Surah Ash-Shuraa (Consultation) — سورة الشورى - **Verse:** 33 / 53 · **Juz:** 25 · **Mushaf page:** 486 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-ash-shuraa/verse-33 ## Arabic اِنْ يَشَأْ يُسْكِنِ الرّ۪يحَ فَيَظْلَلْنَ رَوَاكِدَ عَلٰى ظَهْرِه۪ۜ اِنَّ ف۪ي ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيَاتٍ لِكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ شَكُورٍۙ ## Transcription In yasha/ yuskini arreehafayathlalna rawakida AAala thahrihiinna fee thalika laayatin likulli sabbarinshakoor ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley If He wills He makes the wind stop blowing and then they lie motionless on its back. There are certainly Signs in that for everyone who is steadfast and thankful. ### Progressive Muslims If He willed, He could still the winds, leaving them motionless on top of it. In that are signs for every one who is patient, thankful. ### Shabbir Ahmed And if He so wills He calms the winds so that they come to a halt on its surface. A grateful person is every such person who regards it as a bounty of Allah and not the result of any merit or excellence in himself when he is exalted to any high place of honor in life by a divine decree, and keeps his mind concentrated on the blessings which remain available to man even under the worst circumstances instead of his deprivations when deposed to the lowest of the low position. Thus, he continues to thank his Lord in both prosperity and adversity with his tongue and heart. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab If it be His will, not a breath of wind would cross. the heavens and He would take the wind out of the sails, and motionless shall they remain on its surface, tokens indeed symbolic of Allah's Omnipotence and Authority; tokens giving insight to those who bear well all calamities, and the good events live ever in their thankful hearts. ### Bijan Moeinian If God wills, He may order the winds to stop and let your ship stay still.
