Surah Ash-Shuraa (Consultation) — سورة الشورى - **Verse:** 17 / 53 · **Juz:** 25 · **Mushaf page:** 484 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-ash-shuraa/verse-17 ## Arabic اَللّٰهُ الَّـذ۪ٓي اَنْزَلَ الْكِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ وَالْم۪يزَانَۜ وَمَا يُدْر۪يكَ لَعَلَّ السَّاعَةَ قَر۪يبٌ ## Transcription Allahu allathee anzala alkitababilhaqqi walmeezani wamayudreeka laAAalla assaAAata qareeb ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley It is Allah who has sent down the Book with truth and with the Just Balance. What will make you realise? Perhaps the Hour is close. ### Progressive Muslims God is the One who sent down the Scripture with truth, and the balance. And for all that you know, the Hour may be very near. ### Shabbir Ahmed Allah it is Who has revealed the Book setting forth the Truth, and the Balance (for people to weigh right and wrong. ) And what will make you realize that the Hour (the consequence of your actions) might be close? ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation God it is who has sent down the Writ with the truth and the balance. It may be that the Hour is nigh. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Allah it is Who sent down this Book with the Truth and the Balance.[1] And what would make you know that the Hour (of Judgement) has drawn near?[2] _Footnotes_ - [1] Mizan (Balance): the Shariah of Allah, which, like a balance, brings out clearly the distinction between the right and the wrong, the truth and falsehood, justice and injustice, and righteousness and wickedness. In( verse 15) above, the Prophet (peace be upon him) has been made to say: I have been commanded to do justice between you. Here, it has been told that with this Book the Balance has come by which justice will be established. - [2] That is, the one who is inclined to mend his ways, must mend his ways forthwith, he should not lose time under the delusion that the Hour of Judgment is yet far off. Man cannot be sure whether he will be able to take another breath or not, his present breath may be his last. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Allah is He Who has sent down the Book -The Quran- and the Books sent down before; He sent them down in conformity with truth and in agreement with reality and with the balance of reason and justice, And you never know; the predetermined Hour may well be drawing near and be soon in sight. ### Bijan Moeinian Know that it is God Who has sent down this Book to be used as a balance [as it is the symbol of any legal system]; as you do not know how close the Hour of Judgment is. ### Al-Hilali & Khan It is Allâh Who has sent down the Book (the Qur’ân) in truth, and the Balance (i.e. to act justly).
