Surah As-Sajdah (The Prostration) — سورة السجدة - **Verse:** 22 / 30 · **Juz:** 21 · **Mushaf page:** 416 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-as-sajdah/verse-22 ## Arabic وَمَنْ اَظْلَمُ مِمَّنْ ذُكِّرَ بِاٰيَاتِ رَبِّه۪ ثُمَّ اَعْرَضَ عَنْهَاۜ اِنَّا مِنَ الْمُجْرِم۪ينَ مُنْتَقِمُونَ۟ ## Transcription Waman athlamu mimman thukkirabi-ayati rabbihi thumma aAArada AAanhainna mina almujrimeena muntaqimoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Who could do greater wrong than someone who is reminded of the Signs of his Lord and then turns away from them? We will take revenge on the evildoers. ### Progressive Muslims And who is more wicked than one who is reminded of his Lord's revelations, then he turns away from them We will exact a punishment from the criminals. ### Shabbir Ahmed And who does a greater wrong than he who is reminded of his Lord's Messages, then turns away from them? Verily, We shall requite all those who violate human rights by stealing the fruit of others' labor. ('Mujrim' = One who steals the fruit of the toil of others). ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation And who is more unjust than he who is reminded of the proofs of his Lord, then turns away therefrom? We will take vengeance on the lawbreakers. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation And who is more wicked than he who is reminded of the revelations of his Lord, then he turns away from them? We will exact a punishment from the criminals. ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament Who is more evil than one who is reminded of these revelations of his Lord, then insists upon disregarding them? We will certainly punish the guilty. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira Who is more wicked than he who is reminded of his Lord's revelations yet turns away from them; We will surely requite the sinners. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) And who is more unjust than one who is reminded of the verses of his Lord; then he turns away from them? Indeed We, from the criminals, will take retribution. ### Muhammad Asad And who could be more wicked than he to whom his Sustainer’s messages are conveyed and who thereupon turns away from them? Verily, We shall inflict Our retribution on those who are [thus] lost in sin! ### Marmaduke Pickthall And who doth greater wrong than he who is reminded of the revelations of his Lord, then turneth from them. Lo! We shall requite the guilty. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary And who is more unjust than he who is given good counsel through the Signs of his Lord and yet he turns away from them?[1] Surely We will exact full retribution from such criminals. _Footnotes_ - [1] "The signs of his Lord" include all kinds of the signs. A perusal of all the Quranic verses in this regard shows that these signs are of the following six kinds: ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab And who is more wrongful of actions than he who is reminded of Allah's evident signs and revelations and he shuns and persistently avoids them and abstains from listening to them! Let them just wait, We will take just vengeance on them and afflict them with the torment laid upon the damned. ### Bijan Moeinian Who is more unjust to his own soul than the one who hears direct words of God and then turns away from it? I (God) will certainly take vengeance from such a criminal. ### Al-Hilali & Khan And who does more wrong than he who is reminded of the Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of his Lord, then turns aside therefrom? Verily, We shall exact retribution from the Mujrimûn (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners). ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali And who does more wrong than one to whom are recited the Signs of his Lord, and who then turns away therefrom? Verily from those who transgress We shall exact (due) Retribution. ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran And who does more wrong than the one who is reminded of Allah’s revelations then turns away from them? We will surely inflict punishment upon the wicked. ### Taqi Usmani And who is more unjust than the one who was reminded of the verses of his Lord, then he turned away from them. Surely, We have to take vengeance upon the sinners. ### Abdul Haleem Who does more wrong than someone who, when messages from his Lord are recited to him, turns away from them? We shall inflict retribution on the guilty. ### Arthur John Arberry And who does greater evil than he who is reminded of the signs of his Lord, then turns away from them? We shall take vengeance upon the sinners. ### E. Henry Palmer Who is more unjust than he who is reminded of the signs of his Lord, and then turns away from them? Verily, we will take vengeance on the sinners! ### Hamid S. Aziz And most certainly We will make them taste of the Lesser (or Nearer) Chastisement (i. e. in this life) before the Greater Chastisement (in the Hereafter) that per chance (or possibly) they may turn. ### Mahmoud Ghali And who is more unjust than he who is reminded of the signs of his Lord, thereafter veers away from them? Surely We will be the Avengers against (Literally: avenge (Ourselves) the criminals. ### George Sale Who is more unjust than he who is warned by the signs of his Lord, and then turneth aside from the same? We will surely take vengeance on the wicked. ### Syed Vickar Ahamed And who does more wrong than the one who is reminded of the Signs (verses) of his Lord and he turns away from them (the verses). Surely, We shall take the price from those evildoers who exceed their limits. ### Amatul Rahman Omar And who is more unjust than the person who is reminded through the Messages of his Lord; yet he turns away from them? We will surely punish such of those who have severed their ties (with God). ### Ali Quli Qarai Who is a greater wrongdoer than him who is reminded of his Lord’s signs, whereat he disregards them?
