They — when it was said to them: “There is no god save God,” — waxed proud,
When they were told, ‘There is no god but Allah,’ they were arrogant.
When it was said to them: "There is no god except God, " they would be arrogant.
For when it was said to them, "There is no god but Allah", they showed arrogance.
They — when it was said to them: “There is no god save God,” — waxed proud,
When it was said to them: "There is no god except God," they would be arrogant.
When it was said to them: "There is no god except God," they would be arrogant.
When they were told, "Laa Elaaha Ella Allah
They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence,
Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant
for, behold, whenever they were told, "There is no deity save God," they would glory in their arrogance
For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful
Whenever it was said to them: "There is no true deity apart from Allah," they waxed proud
When they were told in life: "There is no supreme being but Allah", they responded with extravagance in their accounts of themselves and displayed inordinate self-esteem.
These are the same people that when they were told: "There is no other god beside God", they revealed their arrogant nature.
Truly, when it was said to them: Lâ ilâha illallâh "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allâh)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it).
For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride,
For whenever it was said to them ˹in the world˺, "There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Allah," they acted arrogantly
They were those to whom when it was said: "There is no god but Allah", they waxed proud,
Whenever it was said to them, ‘There is no deity but God,’ they became arrogant,
for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud,
Verily, when it is said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they get too big with pride,
Surely they used to behave arrogantly when it was said to them, "There is no God but Allah. "
Surely when it was said to them, "There is no god except Allah, " they were waxing proud.
Because when it is said unto them, there is no god besides the true God, they swell with arrogance,
Truly, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, they would fill themselves up with (false) pride,
For when it was said to them, `There is no other, cannot be and will never be One worthy of worship but Allâh,' they ever turned away in disdain.
Indeed it was they who, when they were told, ‘There is no god except Allah,’ used to be disdainful,
