Surah Ar-Rum (The Romans) — سورة الروم - **Verse:** 44 / 60 · **Juz:** 21 · **Mushaf page:** 408 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-ar-rum/verse-44 ## Arabic مَنْ كَفَرَ فَعَلَيْهِ كُفْرُهُۚ وَمَنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحاً فَلِاَنْفُسِهِمْ يَمْهَدُونَۙ ## Transcription Man kafara faAAalayhi kufruhu waman AAamila salihanfali-anfusihim yamhadoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Those who were kafir will find that their kufr was against themselves. Those who did right were making the way easy for themselves; ### Progressive Muslims Whosoever rejects, then he will suffer his rejection; and whosoever does good works, then it is for themselves that they are preparing a good place. ### Shabbir Ahmed Whoever rejects the Truth will suffer from that rejection, whereas all who do constructive deeds, will make goodly provision for themselves. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation Whoso denies, upon him is his denial; and whoso works righteousness, then are they preparing for themselves, ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation Whoever rejects, then he will suffer his rejection; and whoever does good works, then it is for themselves that they are preparing a good place. ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament Whoever disbelieves, disbelieves to the detriment of his own soul, while those who lead a righteous life, do so to strengthen and develop their own souls. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira So that he who disbelieves will bear the consequence of his unbelief; and he who does the right will straighten out the way for himself, ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) Whoever disbelieves - upon him is [the consequence of] his disbelief. And whoever does righteousness - they are for themselves preparing, ### Muhammad Asad he who has denied the truth will have to bear [the burden of] his denial, whereas all who did what is right and just will have made goodly provision for themselves, ### Marmaduke Pickthall Whoso disbelieveth must (then) bear the consequences of his disbelief, while those who do right make provision for themselves - ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary He who disbelieves will suffer the consequence of it[1] and he who acts righteously, they will pave the way for their own good _Footnotes_ - [1] This is a comprehensive sentence which encompasses all those harms which can afflict a disbeliever on account of his disbelief. No list of the harms could be so comprehensive as this. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab And he who denies Allah's system of faith and worship or incorporates with Him other deities shall find that the consequence of his infidelity rebounds back on him. And those who imprint their deeds with wisdom and piety, simply pave the way for a blissful abode in the beatitude of heaven, Allah willing, ### Bijan Moeinian The one who chooses the disbelief, is hurting his own soul.
