Surah Ar-Rum (The Romans) — سورة الروم - **Verse:** 19 / 60 · **Juz:** 21 · **Mushaf page:** 405 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-ar-rum/verse-19 ## Arabic يُخْرِجُ الْحَيَّ مِنَ الْمَيِّتِ وَيُخْرِجُ الْمَيِّتَ مِنَ الْحَيِّ وَيُحْـيِ الْاَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَاۜ وَكَذٰلِكَ تُخْرَجُونَ۟ ## Transcription Yukhriju alhayya mina almayyitiwayukhriju almayyita mina alhayyi wayuhyee al-ardabaAAda mawtiha wakathalika tukhrajoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley He brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living and brings the earth to life after it was dead. In the same way you too will be brought forth. ### Progressive Muslims He brings the living out of the dead, and He brings the dead out of the living. And He revives the land after its death. And similarly you will be brought out. ### Shabbir Ahmed He it is Who brings forth the living out of the dead and brings forth the dead out of the living. And gives life to the earth after it had been lifeless. And thus it is - that you will be brought forth. And even so will ye be brought forth. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary He brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living, and revives the earth after it is dead.[1] Likewise will you be raised to life (after you die). _Footnotes_ - [1] That is, how can that God Who is doing all this perpetually in front of your eyes, be helpless in raising man to life after death? He is causing absolutely dead matter to be discharged from living man and animals. He is ever bringing into existence countless animals and human beings by breathing life into dead matter, whereas the substances themselves which make up the bodies of the living beings are absolutely without life. He is making you witness the phenomenon that wherever water becomes available, lands previously lying barren start blooming and blossoming with animal and vegetable life. In spite of witnessing all this if a person thinks that the God Who is sustaining the universe will be helpless to raise man back to life after death, he is fully devoid of the common sense. His heart does not see the clear realities gleaming from the manifestations which his eyes see. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab He causes the living to issue Jorth from the dead and He causes the dead to fall from the living and He revives the earth after it has suffered death; similarly shall you be resurrected. ### Bijan Moeinian God is the One Who gives life to dead things [all living species are made of the matter which by its very definition is dead] and makes a living being die [a dead corps was a living being just a few seconds ago!] He gives life [in front of your very own eyes] to a dead land, [how can you then deny the resurrection which takes place in front of your eyes every day?].
