Surah Ar-Rum (The Romans) — سورة الروم - **Verse:** 16 / 60 · **Juz:** 21 · **Mushaf page:** 405 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-ar-rum/verse-16 ## Arabic وَاَمَّا الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا وَكَذَّبُوا بِاٰيَاتِنَا وَلِقَٓائِ الْاٰخِرَةِ فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ فِي الْعَذَابِ مُحْضَرُونَ ## Transcription Waamma allatheena kafaroo wakaththaboobi-ayatina waliqa-i al-akhiratifaola-ika fee alAAathabi muhdaroon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley But as for those who were kafir and denied Our Signs and the meeting of the Next World, they will be summoned to the punishment. ### Progressive Muslims And as for those who rejected and denied Our revelations and the meeting of the Hereafter, they shall be brought forth for the retribution. ### Shabbir Ahmed Whereas those who rejected Our Messages in word or denied them in action, and denied the inevitable life to come, such will be given over to doom. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation But as for those who ignore warning and deny Our proofs and the meeting of the Hereafter: those will be summoned to the punishment. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation And as for those who rejected and denied Our revelations and the meeting of the Hereafter, they shall be brought forth for the retribution. ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament As for those who disbelieve, and reject our revelations and the meeting of the Hereafter, they will last in the retribution forever. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira Those who did not believe and rejected Our signs and the meeting in the Hereafter, will be given over to punishment. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) But as for those who disbelieved and denied Our verses and the meeting of the Hereafter, those will be brought into the punishment [to remain]. ### Muhammad Asad but as for those who refused to acknowledge the truth and gave the lie to Our messages - and (thus) to the announce­ment of a life to come - they will be given over to suffering. ### Marmaduke Pickthall But as for those who disbelieved and denied Our revelations, and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, such will be brought to doom. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary As for those who disbelieved[1] and gave the lie to Our Signs and to the encounter of the Hereafter, they will be arraigned for chastisement. _Footnotes_ - [1] One thing here is noteworthy. Good works have been mentioned as a necessary adjunct of the faith, which will earn one the blissful Garden. But no mention has been made of the evil acts while mentioning the evil end of disbelief. This clearly indicates that disbelief by itself is enough to mar the destiny of a person, whether it is accompanied by the evil act or not. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab But as for those who denied Allah and/or His system of faith and worship and dismissed the idea of assembling before Him Hereafter, they shall have much to answer for.
