Surah Ar-Ra'd (The Thunder) — سورة الرعد - **Verse:** 36 / 43 · **Juz:** 13 · **Mushaf page:** 253 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-ar-rad/verse-36 ## Arabic وَالَّذ۪ينَ اٰتَيْنَاهُمُ الْكِتَابَ يَفْرَحُونَ بِمَٓا اُنْزِلَ اِلَيْكَ وَمِنَ الْاَحْزَابِ مَنْ يُنْكِرُ بَعْضَهُۜ قُلْ اِنَّـمَٓا اُمِرْتُ اَنْ اَعْبُدَ اللّٰهَ وَلَٓا اُشْرِكَ بِه۪ۜ اِلَيْهِ اَدْعُوا وَاِلَيْهِ مَاٰبِ ## Transcription Wallatheena ataynahumualkitaba yafrahoona bima onzila ilaykawamina al-ahzabi man yunkiru baAAdahu qulinnama omirtu an aAAbuda Allaha wala oshrikabihi ilayhi adAAoo wa-ilayhi maab ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Those to whom We gave the Book rejoice at what has been sent down to you but some of the parties refuse to acknowledge part of it. Say: ‘I have only been ordered to worship Allah and not to associate anything with Him. I summon to Him and to Him I will return.’ ### Progressive Muslims And those to whom We have previously given the Scripture rejoice at what has been sent down to you, but there are some of the groups that reject parts of it. Say: "I am only ordered to serve God and not join any partner with Him. To Him I pray and to Him is the return." ### Shabbir Ahmed Hence, they unto whom We have given the Book rejoice in what is revealed to you (O Prophet). But among the groups that follow other creeds, there are such who deny some of it. (They even preach that some of the verses have been abrogated, or that they have a hidden meaning!) Say, "I am commanded only that I serve Allah and associate none with Him. To Him I invite, and to Him is my return." ### Muhammad Asad Hence, they unto whom We have vouchsafed this revelation rejoice at all that has been bestowed upon thee [O Prophet] from on high; but among the followers of other creeds there are such as deny the validity of some of it. Say [unto them, O Prophet]: "I have only been bidden to worship God, and not to ascribe divine. powers to aught beside Him: unto Him do I call [all mankind], and He is my goal!" ### Marmaduke Pickthall Those unto whom We gave the Scripture rejoice in that which is revealed unto thee. And of the clans there are who deny some of it. Say: I am commanded only that I serve Allah and ascribe unto Him no partner. Unto Him I cry, and unto Him is my return. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Those upon whom We bestowed the Scriptures earlier rejoice at the Book revealed to you, while there are also some among different groups that reject part of it. Tell them: "I have only been commanded to serve Allah and not to associate anyone with Him. To Him do I call, and to Him is my return."[1] _Footnotes_ - [1] This is in reply to a specific objection which was then raised by the disbelievers. They would say: If he has brought the same message that was brought by the Messengers before him (as he claims), why don’t the Jews and the Christians who are the followers of the former Prophets come forward and welcome it? The verse answers the objection and says that the true followers of the former Prophets really rejoice in the message of the Quran, but the false ones have been offended by it. Then it asks the Prophet (peace be upon him) not to worry at all about this, saying: O Prophet, you should not mind at all whether they are pleased or offended by it. Tell them plainly that this is the guidance I have received from my Lord and I will follow it at all costs. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Ahl AL-Kitab (The People of the Book) -the Jews- who lift to Allah their inward sight rejoice at the Quran and at all that has been revealed to you O Muhammad They find in it an extension of the basic principles of the Oneness of Allah, the validation of previous Scriptures and the unity of purpose, feeling and action. But among the sects are those who receive a part of the Quran with consenting mind and reject other parts not falling in with their vain desires. Say to them: "I have been commanded to worship Allah and never to incorporate with Him other deities and to present inducements to the people to turn to Him; and to Him shall all return". ### Bijan Moeinian Those who have grasped the Scripture, welcome this Book which is revealed to you. Different sects among them, however, rejects part of it. Say to them: "I am ordered to worship God and associate none with Him. I invite you to Him and to Him I give myself up." ### Al-Hilali & Khan Those to whom We have given the Book (such as ‘Abdullâh bin Salâm and other Jews who embraced Islâm), rejoice at what has been revealed unto you (i.e. the Qur’ân),[1] but there are among the Confederates (from the Jews and pagans) those who reject a part thereof. Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم): "I am commanded only to worship Allâh (Alone) and not to join partners with Him. Fakat (peygamberlerin aleyhinde birleşen) güruh içinde onun bir kısmını inkar eden kimseler de vardır. De ki: "Ben ancak Allaha kulluk edib Ona ortak koşmamamla emrolundum. Ben ancak Ona düa ederim. Dönüşüm de yalınız Onadır." ### İbni Kesir Kendilerine kitab verdiklerimiz, sana indirilenden memnun olurlar. Karşı gruplar içinde de onun bir kısmını inkar edenler vardır. De ki: Ben, ancak Allah'a ibadet etmek ve O'na şirk koşmamakla emrolundum. Ben, hepinizi O'na çağırıyorum ve dönüşüm de O'nadır. ### Muhammed Esed — Kur'an Mesajı Bunun içindir ki, kendilerine bu vahyi bahşettiğimiz kimseler (ey Peygamber,) sana indirdiklerimizden ötürü sevinir, hoşnut olurlar; fakat başka inançların bağlıları arasında onun bir kısmının geçerliliğini inkar edenler var. (Ey Peygamber, onlara) de ki: "Ben yalnızca Allah'a kulluk etmekle ve O'ndan başkasına tanrısal güçler, tanrısal nitelikler yakıştırmamakla emrolundum: (bütün insanlığı) O'na çağırıyorum ve dönüşüm de O'nadır!" ### Şaban Piriş — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Anlamı Kendilerine kitap verdiklerimiz, sana indirilene memnun olurlar. Kulluğun Allah'a özgü olması özgürlüktür, Allah'tan başkasına ki bu bir güce, dünya malına, insanın kendi hevasına, iktidara, düşünceye, kişiye vs. olması ise köleliktir. Kulluk seçiminde tevhid gerçekleştirilmezse inanca dair her şey anlamını ve önemini yitirir, yaşam ve inanç şirke dönüşür. İnsanın yaşamında kulluğun kapsamadığı hiçbir alan yoktur. İnsan yaşamında kulluğun kapsamadığı, kulluğun dışına tutulabilecek hiçbir alan yoktur. Bir Mü'min için kulluk, insanın ruhen ve bedenen bütün varlığı ile Allah'a bilinçli bir bağlılık ile yönelmesidir.
