Surah An-Nur (The Light) — سورة النور - **Verse:** 47 / 64 · **Juz:** 18 · **Mushaf page:** 355 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-an-nur/verse-47 ## Arabic وَيَقُولُونَ اٰمَنَّا بِاللّٰهِ وَبِالرَّسُولِ وَاَطَعْنَا ثُمَّ يَتَوَلّٰى فَر۪يقٌ مِنْهُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ ذٰلِكَۜ وَمَٓا اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ بِالْمُؤْمِن۪ينَ ## Transcription Wayaqooloona amanna billahiwabirrasooli waataAAna thumma yatawallafareequn minhum min baAAdi thalika wama ola-ikabilmu/mineen ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley They say, ‘We have iman in Allah and in the Messenger and we obey. ’ Then after that a group of them turn away. Such people are not muminun. ### Progressive Muslims And they Say: "We believe in God and in the messenger, and we obey," but a group of them turn away after that. These are not believers. ### Shabbir Ahmed For, some people say, "We believe in Allah and the Messenger and we obey. " Then after that a faction of them turns away. Such are not believers. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation And they say: “We believe in God and the Messenger, and we obey”; then a faction among them turns away after that — and those are not believers. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation And they say: "We believe in God and in the messenger, and we obey," but a group of them turn away after that. These are not believers. ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament They say, "We believe in GOD and in the messenger, and we obey," but then some of them slide back afterwards. These are not believers. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira They say they believe in God and the Prophet, and have come to believe, yet a section of them turns back even after this; and these are not believers. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) But the hypocrites say, "We have believed in Allah and in the Messenger, and we obey"; then a party of them turns away after that. And those are not believers. ### Muhammad Asad For, [many are] they [who] say, "We believe in God and in the Apostle, and we pay heed!" - but then, some of them turn away after this [assertion]: and these are by no means [true] believers. ### Marmaduke Pickthall And they say: We believe in Allah and the messenger, and we obey; then after that a faction of them turn away. Such are not believers. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary They say: "We believe in Allah and the Messenger, and we obey," but thereafter a faction of them turns away (from obedience). These indeed are not believers.[1] _Footnotes_ - [1] That is, their turning away from obedience itself belies their claim that they are believers and their conduct clearly shows that their profession of faith and submission was absolutely false. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab And they say: We have conformed to Allah's system of faith and worship and acknowledged His Messenger, recognized his mission and obeyed his principles and commands. Then some of them have second thoughts and their behaviour proves that their words together with their actions do not accord. They refrained from joining the faithful in serving Allah's cause They are not really faithful. ### Bijan Moeinian Some say: "We bear witness that we have chosen to believe in God and His Messenger and we are going to submit ourselves. " Soon after, however, a group of them forget their pledges. The latter are definitely not the believers. ### Al-Hilali & Khan They (hypocrites) say: "We have believed in Allâh and in the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), and we obey," then a party of them turn away thereafter, such are not believers. ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali They say, "We believe in Allah and in the messenger, and we obey": but even after that, some of them turn away: they are not (really) Believers. ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran And the hypocrites say, "We believe in Allah and the Messenger, and we obey." Then a group of them turns away soon after that. These are not ˹true˺ believers. ### Taqi Usmani They say, "We have believed in Allah and in the messenger, and have adopted obedience", then a group from them goes back after all this. Those are no believers. ### Abdul Haleem They say, ‘We believe in God and the Messenger; we obey,’ but then some of them turn away: these people are not true believers ### Arthur John Arberry They say, 'We believe in God and the Messenger, and we obey. ' Then after that a party of them turn away; those -- they are not believers. ### E. Henry Palmer They will say, 'We believe in God and in the Apostle, and we obey. ' Then a sect of them turned their backs after that, and they are not believers. ### Hamid S. Aziz We have, indeed, sent down revelations which make things (hidden) manifest, and Allah guides whom He pleases unto the Straight Way. ### Mahmoud Ghali And they say, "We believe in Allah and in the Messenger, and we obey. " Thereafter a group of them turn away even after that, and in no way are those ever the believers. ### George Sale The hypocrites say, we believe in God, and on his apostle; and we obey them: Yet a part of them turneth back, after this; but these are not really believers. ### Syed Vickar Ahamed They say, "We believe in Allah and in the Messenger (Muhammad) and we obey:" But even after (saying) that, some of them turn away: They are not (true) believers. ### Amatul Rahman Omar And (some of the) people say, `We believe in Allâh and the Messenger and obey (them). But even after (professing) this a section of them (- the hypocrites) turn away. Such are no believers at all. ### Ali Quli Qarai They say, ‘We have faith in Allah and His Apostle, and we obey. ’ Then after that a part of them refuse to comply, and they do not have faith. ### Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır — Kur'an-ı Kerim ve Yüce Meali Bir de Allaha ve Resulüne inandık ve itaat ettik diyorlar da sonra bunun arkasından yan çiziyorlar, bunlar mü'min değillerdir ### Ahmed Hulusi — Türkçe Kur'an Çözümü "Esma'sıyla hakikatimiz olan Allah'a ve Bir-Rasul'e (Rasulü olarak hükmüne) iman ettik, itaat ettik" diyorlar; ama onlardan bir grup bunu dedikten sonra geri dönüyor! Onlar imanlı değillerdir! ### Ali Bulaç — Kur'an-ı Kerim ve Türkçe Anlamı Onlar derler ki: "Allah'a ve elçisine iman ettik ve itaat ettik" sonra bunun ardından onlardan bir grup sırt çevirir. Bunlar inançlı değildirler. ### Hasan Basri Çantay — Kur'an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim (Münafıklar): "Allaha da, peygambere de inandık, itaat etdik" derler de sonra bunun arkasından içlerinden bir zümre yüz çevirirler. Bunlar mü'min adamlar değildir. ### İbni Kesir Allah'a da Peygambere de inandık ve itaat ettik, derler. Sonra da bunun ardından bir takımı yüz çevirir. Bunlar inanmış kimseler değillerdir. ### Muhammed Esed — Kur'an Mesajı Çünkü, (niceleri) "Allah'a ve Rasul'e inandık, itaat ettik!" derler de, sonra onlardan bir kısmı, bu (sözlerine) rağmen, (doğru yoldan) geri dönerler; işte böyleleri hiçbir zaman (gerçek) müminler değillerdir. ### Şaban Piriş — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Anlamı -Allah'a ve peygamberine iman ettik, itaat ettik, diyorlar; sonra bunlardan bir grup, böyle söylemesine rağmen yüz çeviriyor.
