Surah An-Nur (The Light) — سورة النور - **Verse:** 44 / 64 · **Juz:** 18 · **Mushaf page:** 355 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-an-nur/verse-44 ## Arabic يُقَلِّبُ اللّٰهُ الَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَۜ اِنَّ ف۪ي ذٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِاُو۬لِي الْاَبْصَارِ ## Transcription Yuqallibu Allahu allayla wannaharainna fee thalika laAAibratan li-olee al-absar ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Allah revolves night and day. There is surely a lesson in that for people with inner sight. ### Progressive Muslims God rotates the night and the day. In that is a lesson for those who have insight. ### Shabbir Ahmed Allah causes the revolution of the night and the day. Herein indeed is a lesson for men and women of vision and understanding. (Of straying and guidance, of death and life, of calculating time, of rest and work etc.) ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation God turns about the night and the day; in that is a lesson for those of vision. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation God rotates the night and the day. Indeed in that is a lesson for those who have vision. ### Muhammad Asad It is God who causes night and day to alter­nate: in this [too], behold, there is surely a lesson for all who have eyes to see! ### Marmaduke Pickthall Allah causeth the revolution of the day and the night. Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for those who see. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary It is Allah Who alternates the night and the day. Surely there is a lesson in it for those that have sight. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Allah is He Who causes the day and the night to succeed one another or occur in alternation. This is indeed an instructive example, a great incitement and a lesson to those of intellect who open their minds' eyes and lift to Allah their inward sight. ### Bijan Moeinian God alternates night and the day. In this alone, there are lessons for those who have inquisitive mind (to discover the rotation of the earth and appreciate the power which makes the earth turn around its axel.) ### Al-Hilali & Khan Allâh causes the night and the day to succeed each other (i.e. if the day is gone, the night comes, and if the night is gone, the day comes, and so on).
