Surah An-Nisa (The Women) — سورة النساء - **Verse:** 80 / 176 · **Juz:** 5 · **Mushaf page:** 90 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-80 ## Arabic مَنْ يُطِـعِ الرَّسُولَ فَقَدْ اَطَاعَ اللّٰهَۚ وَمَنْ تَوَلّٰى فَمَٓا اَرْسَلْنَاكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَف۪يظاًۜ ## Transcription Man yutiAAi arrasoola faqad ataAAaAllaha waman tawalla fama arsalnakaAAalayhim hafeetha ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Whoever obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah. If anyone turns away, We did not send you to them as their keeper. ### Progressive Muslims Whoever obeys the messenger has obeyed God; and whoever turns away, We have not sent you as a guardian over them. ### Shabbir Ahmed Whoever obeys the Messenger, automatically obeys Allah since he rules by the Book of Allah (5:44). It is they rather than the Prophet (peace be on him) who will be censured. The task entrusted to the Prophet (peace be on him) was merely to communicate to them the ordinances and directives of God and he acquitted himself of it very well. It was not his duty to compel them to follow the right way, so that if they failed to follow the teachings communicated to them by the Prophet (peace be on him) the responsibility was entirely theirs. The Prophet (peace be on him) would not be questioned as to why they disobeyed. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab He who obeys the Messenger has in effect obeyed Allah, and he who turns a deaf ear must realize that We did not send you to watch over their innocence and folly. ### Bijan Moeinian Whoever obeys the Prophet, has obeyed God [for the simple reason that he carries the orders of God]. As to those who disobey you (Mohammad), never mind them as you are not responsible for their deeds [and attitudes.] ### Al-Hilali & Khan He who obeys the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), has indeed obeyed Allâh, but he who turns away, then we have not sent you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) as a watcher over them.[1] ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali He who obeys the Messenger, obeys Allah: But if any turn away, We have not sent thee to watch over their (evil deeds). ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran Whoever obeys the Messenger has truly obeyed Allah.
