Surah An-Nisa (The Women) — سورة النساء - **Verse:** 75 / 176 · **Juz:** 5 · **Mushaf page:** 89 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-75 ## Arabic وَمَا لَكُمْ لَا تُقَاتِلُونَ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِ وَالْمُسْتَضْعَف۪ينَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ وَالنِّسَٓاءِ وَالْوِلْدَانِ الَّذ۪ينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَٓا اَخْرِجْنَا مِنْ هٰذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ الظَّالِمِ اَهْلُهَاۚ وَاجْعَلْ لَنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ وَلِياًّۚ وَاجْعَلْ لَنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ نَص۪يراًۜ ## Transcription Wama lakum la tuqatiloonafee sabeeli Allahi walmustadAAafeena mina arrijaliwannisa-i walwildani allatheenayaqooloona rabbana akhrijna min hathihialqaryati aththalimi ahluhawajAAal lana min ladunka waliyyan wajAAallana min ladunka naseera ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley What reason could you have for not fighting in the Way of Allah – for those men, women and children who are oppressed and say, ‘Our Lord, take us out of this city whose inhabitants are wrongdoers! Give us a protector from You! Oh, give us from Thy presence some defender! ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary How is it that you do not fight in the way of Allah and in support of the helpless - men, women and children -who pray: 'Our Lord, bring us out of this land whose people are oppressors and appoint for us from Yourself, a protector, and appoint for us from Yourself a helper'?[1] . _Footnotes_ - [1] This refers to those wronged, persecuted men, women and children of Makka and of the other tribes in Arabia who had embraced Islam, but were able neither to emigrate nor to protect themselves from the wrongs to which they were subjected.
