Surah An-Nisa (The Women) — سورة النساء - **Verse:** 165 / 176 · **Juz:** 6 · **Mushaf page:** 103 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-165 ## Arabic رُسُلاً مُبَشِّر۪ينَ وَمُنْذِر۪ينَ لِئَلَّا يَكُونَ لِلنَّاسِ عَلَى اللّٰهِ حُجَّةٌ بَعْدَ الرُّسُلِۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ عَز۪يزاً حَك۪يماً ## Transcription Rusulan mubashshireena wamunthireenali-alla yakoona linnasi AAala Allahihujjatun baAAda arrusuli wakana AllahuAAazeezan hakeema ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Messengers bringing good news and giving warning, so that people will have no argument against Allah after the coming of the Messengers. Allah is Almighty, All-Wise. ### Progressive Muslims Messengers who were bearers of good news and warners, so that there will be no excuse for the people with God after the messengers. God is Noble, Wise. ### Shabbir Ahmed All Messengers gave good news, as well as warning, so that humans won't have an argument against God, after the Messengers conveyed to them the Guidance. Allah was ever Mighty, Wise. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary These Messengers were sent as bearers of glad tidings and as warners[1] so that after sending the Messengers people may have no plea against Allah.[2] Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise. _Footnotes_ - [1] It is emphasized that the essential function of all the Prophets was the same: to announce good tidings of salvation and felicity to those who believe in the teachings revealed by God and mend their conduct accordingly, and to warn those who persist in false beliefs and evil ways that they will have to face dire consequences. - [2] God's purpose in sending the Prophets was to establish His plea against mankind. God did not want criminals to have any basis on which to plead that their actions were done in ignorance. Prophets were therefore sent to all parts of the world, and many Scriptures were revealed. These Prophets communicated knowledge of the Truth to large sections of people, and left behind Scriptures which have guided human beings in all ages. If anyone falls a prey to error, in spite of all this, the blame does not lie with God or the Prophets. The blame lies rather with those who have spurned God's message even after having received it, and with those who knew the Truth but failed to enlighten others. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Such Messengers were sent as spectacles and warnings so that people shall have no excuse nor can they hold a plea against Allah in mitigation of censure after they had been warned by Allah's Messengers. And Allah has always been Azizun and Hakimun. ### Bijan Moeinian Prophets have been sent to give good news [about the rewards for their good deeds] and warn people [of the consequences of their evil deeds and their responsibilities. ] They are sent so that people could not justify their wrongdoings by the reason of ignorance.
