Surah An-Nisa (The Women) — سورة النساء - **Verse:** 104 / 176 · **Juz:** 5 · **Mushaf page:** 94 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-104 ## Arabic وَلَا تَهِنُوا فِي ابْتِغَٓاءِ الْقَوْمِۜ اِنْ تَكُونُوا تَأْلَمُونَ فَاِنَّهُمْ يَأْلَمُونَ كَمَا تَأْلَمُونَۚ وَتَرْجُونَ مِنَ اللّٰهِ مَا لَا يَرْجُونَۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ عَل۪يماً حَك۪يماً۟ ## Transcription Wala tahinoo fee ibtigha-ialqawmi in takoonoo ta/lamoona fa-innahum ya/lamoona kamata/lamoona watarjoona mina Allahi ma layarjoona wakana Allahu AAaleeman hakeema ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Do not relax in pursuit of the enemy. If you feel pain, they too are feeling it just as you are, but you hope for something from Allah which they cannot hope for. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise. ### Progressive Muslims And do not falter in the pursuit of the remaining group. If you are feeling pain, then they are also feeling pain as you are; and you seek from God what they do not seek. God is Knowledgeable, Wise. ### Shabbir Ahmed Do not show weakness in pursuing the enemy. If you suffer hardship they too suffer hardship, but you have hope to receive Allah's reward that they cannot rightfully hope. Allah is ever Knower, Wise. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Do not be faint of heart in pursuing these people:[1] if you happen to suffer harm they too are suffering just as you are, while you may hope from Allah what they cannot hope for.[2] Allah is All-Knowing, All- Wise. _Footnotes_ - [1] This refers to those unbelievers who adamantly opposed the cause of Islam and the establishment of the Islamic order. - [2] It is astonishing that men of faith should not be prepared to endure the same degree of hardship for the sake of the Truth as unbelievers do for the sake of falsehood. This is strange insofar as the latter merely seek the transient benefits of worldly life whereas the faithful seek to please, and secure the proximity of the Lord of the Universe and look forward to everlasting rewards. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab And do not relax in point of strictness and severity nor weaken in your fighting power against those who are an open enemy of the faith. If you are suffering misery and hardship, they are suffering just the same, but unlike them, you are hopeful of Allah's tutelage, mercy and blessings whereas they are staking their very lives on some dark hope. And Allah is ever 'Alimun and Hakimun. ### Bijan Moeinian Show no weakness in following up the enemy. If you are suffering a hardship (such as a wound of war), they also suffer. Besides, you expect a reward from your Lord while they do not hope for nothing. Indeed God is the Most Knowledgeable and the Most Wise. ### Al-Hilali & Khan And don’t be weak in the pursuit of the enemy; if you are suffering (hardships) then surely, they (too) are suffering (hardships) as you are suffering, but you have a hope from Allâh (for the reward, i.e. Paradise) that for which they hope not; and Allâh is Ever All-Knowing, All-Wise. ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali And slacken not in following up the enemy: If ye are suffering hardships, they are suffering similar hardships; but ye have Hope from Allah, while they have none. Siz acı çekiyorsanız, şüphesiz onlar da, sizin acı çektiğiniz gibi acı çekiyorlar. Oysa siz, onların umud etmediklerini Tanrı'dan umuyorsunuz. Tanrı, bilendir, hüküm ve hikmet sahibidir. ### Hasan Basri Çantay — Kur'an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim (Düşmanlarınız olan) kavmi aramakda (ta'kib etmekde) gevşek davranmayın. Siz acı duyuyorsanız, şübhesiz ki onlar da sizin duyduğunuz o acı gibi acı duyuyorlar. Halbuki siz Allahdan onların ümid edemeyecekleri şeyleri umuyorsunuz. Eğer sıkıntı çekerseniz, bilin ki onlar da sizin gibi sıkıntı çekiyorlar; ama siz, Allahtan onların ümit etmediklerini (alacağınızı) ümit ediyorsunuz.
