Surah An-Naml (The Ant) — سورة النمل - **Verse:** 91 / 93 · **Juz:** 20 · **Mushaf page:** 384 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-an-naml/verse-91 ## Arabic اِنَّـمَٓا اُمِرْتُ اَنْ اَعْبُدَ رَبَّ هٰذِهِ الْبَلْدَةِ الَّذ۪ي حَرَّمَهَا وَلَهُ كُلُّ شَيْءٍۘ وَاُمِرْتُ اَنْ اَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُسْلِم۪ينَۙ ## Transcription Innama omirtu an aAAbuda rabba hathihialbaldati allathee harramaha walahu kullushay-in waomirtu an akoona mina almuslimeen ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley ‘I have simply been ordered to worship the Lord of this land which He has declared sacred – everything belongs to Him – and I have been ordered to be one of the Muslims ### Progressive Muslims "I have been ordered to serve the Lord of this town that He has made restricted, and to Him are all things, and I have been ordered to be of those who surrender. And I am commanded to be of those who surrender (unto Him), ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary (Tell them, O Muhammad): "I have been commanded only to serve the Lord of this city that He has made inviolable, to serve Him to Whom all things belong.[1] I have been commanded to be of those that submit to Allah, _Footnotes_ - [1] At several places in the Quran it has been stated clearly that an evil will be punished in the Hereafter only to the extent of the evil committed, but a good act will be rewarded much more generously by Allah than what the doer will actually deserve for it. I am commanded to submit to Him (to be a Muslim) and to recite Qur’an."… ### Al-Hilali & Khan I (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) have been commanded only to worship the Lord of this city (Makkah), Who has sanctified it and to Whom belongs everything.
