Surah An-Naml (The Ant) — سورة النمل - **Verse:** 81 / 93 · **Juz:** 20 · **Mushaf page:** 383 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-an-naml/verse-81 ## Arabic وَمَٓا اَنْتَ بِهَادِي الْعُمْيِ عَنْ ضَلَالَتِهِمْۜ اِنْ تُسْمِــعُ اِلَّا مَنْ يُؤْمِنُ بِاٰيَاتِنَا فَهُمْ مُسْلِمُونَ ## Transcription Wama anta bihadee alAAumyiAAan dalalatihim in tusmiAAu illa manyu/minu bi-ayatina fahum muslimoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley You will not guide blind men out of their error. You will not make anyone hear except for those who have iman in Our Signs and so are Muslims. ### Progressive Muslims Nor can you guide the blind from their misguidance. You can only make those who believe in Our revelations hear you, for they have surrendered. ### Shabbir Ahmed Nor can you lead the blind of reason out of their error. You can only make those hear who believe in Our Signs, so they submit. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation And thou wilt not guide the blind out of their error. Thou wilt only make hear him who believes in Our proofs, so they are submitting. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation Nor can you guide the blind from their misguidance. You will only make hear those who believe in Our verses so they are Muslims [submitting to Allah ]. ### Muhammad Asad just as thou canst not lead the blind [of heart] out of their error; none canst thou make hear save such as [are willing to] believe in Our messages, and thus surrender themselves unto Us. ### Marmaduke Pickthall Nor canst thou lead the blind out of their error. Thou canst make none to hear, save those who believe Our revelations and who have surrendered. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary nor can you direct the blind to the Right Way,[1] preventing them from falling into error. You can make only those who believe in Our verses to hear the call and then submit. _Footnotes_ - [1] That is, "It is none of your job to pull them forcibly to the right way and drag them along with you. You can only tell them by the word of mouth and by your example that this is the right way and the way they are following is the wrong way. But how can you guide the one who has closed his eyes and is not at all inclined to see anything?" ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Nor shall you be able to guide those who lack intellectual or spiritual perception and their minds' eyes are blind nor can you extricate them or disengage out of the entangled wood of error. You can only influence those who listen to you and give credence to Our revelations and to Our authoritative divine signs with hearts impressed with the image of religious and spiritual virtues, for such persons have indeed conformed to Islam. ### Bijan Moeinian You can not guide the blind [to the right path] in spite of his will. You can deliver the message only to those who have chosen to believe and then submit themselves wholeheartedly. ### Al-Hilali & Khan Nor can you lead the blind out of their error.
