Surah An-Naml (The Ant) — سورة النمل - **Verse:** 12 / 93 · **Juz:** 19 · **Mushaf page:** 376 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-an-naml/verse-12 ## Arabic وَاَدْخِلْ يَدَكَ ف۪ي جَيْبِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَٓاءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُٓوءٍ ف۪ي تِسْعِ اٰيَاتٍ اِلٰى فِرْعَوْنَ وَقَوْمِه۪ۜ اِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْماً فَاسِق۪ينَ ## Transcription Waadkhil yadaka fee jaybika takhruj baydaamin ghayri soo-in fee tisAAi ayatin ilafirAAawna waqawmihi innahum kanoo qawman fasiqeen ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Put your hand inside your shirt front. It will emerge pure white, yet quite unharmed – one of nine Signs to Pharaoh and his people. (This will be one) among nine tokens unto Pharaoh and his people Lo! they were ever evil-living folk. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Now put your hand into your bosom, and it will come forth shining without any blemish. (These are two of the) nine Signs[1] to be carried to Pharaoh and his people. They are surely a wicked people." _Footnotes_ - [1] According to (Surah Bani-Israil: Ayat 101), the Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) had been granted nine clearly visible signs, which according to the details given in Surah Al-Aaraf were the following: (1) The staff’s turning into a serpent, (2) the shining hand when it was drawn out of the armpit, (3) public triumph over the magicians, (4) occurrence of a widespread famine in the land as foretold by the Prophet Moses (peace be upon him), (5) the storm, (6) the locusts, (7) the incidence of weevils in the grain stores and of lice among human beings and animals, (8) the frogs, and (9) the rain of blood. (See (E.N. 43 of Surah Az- Zukhruf). ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab And, Allah added, "put your hand into your bosom it shall come out transfigured in a radiance of white divine light unharmed and all sound, one of nine divine signs you shall present to Pharaoh and his people who have confirmed themselves in the horrid purpose and the ill intention". ### Bijan Moeinian "Now put your hand into your pocket; when you take it out, it will shine white [like an intense fire] without hurting you.
