Surah An-Nahl (The Bee) — سورة النحل - **Verse:** 113 / 128 · **Juz:** 14 · **Mushaf page:** 279 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-an-nahl/verse-113 ## Arabic وَلَقَدْ جَٓاءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مِنْهُمْ فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَاَخَذَهُمُ الْعَذَابُ وَهُمْ ظَالِمُونَ ## Transcription Walaqad jaahum rasoolun minhum fakaththaboohufaakhathahumu alAAathabu wahum thalimoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley A Messenger from among them came to them but they denied him. So the punishment seized them and they were wrongdoers. ### Progressive Muslims And a messenger came to them from themselves, but they denied him, so the punishment took them while they were wicked. ### Shabbir Ahmed A Messenger came to them from among themselves, but they denied him. Therefore chastisement seized them while they engaged in wrong-doing.[1] _Footnotes_ - [1] That habitation has not been specified here nor have the commentators definitely pointed out which that habitation was. However, there is a saying of Ibn Abbas (which seems to be correct) that the place referred to is Makkah itself. In that case, hunger and fear will mean the famine which prevailed over the people of Makkah for several years during the Prophethood of Muhammad (peace be upon him). ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab A Messenger who evolved in their midst was sent to them with the spirit of truth guiding into all truth, but they denied Our message and accused him of falsehood. In consequence, they came within the measure of Our wrath and were made to suffer for their perpetual iniquities. ### Bijan Moeinian Then a Prophet, from among themselves, was appointed to them. Unfortunately (instead of listening to him) they treated him as an imposter (as mentioned in vs. 103.) At last, they were subjected to their doom in account of being so unjust. ### Al-Hilali & Khan And verily, there had come unto them a Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) from among themselves, but they denied him, so the torment overtook them while they were Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers). ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali And there came to them a Messenger from among themselves, but they falsely rejected him; so the Wrath seized them even in the midst of their iniquities. ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran A messenger of their own actually did come to them, but they denied him.
