Surah Ali 'Imran (The Family of Imraan) — سورة آل عمران - **Verse:** 49 / 200 · **Juz:** 3 · **Mushaf page:** 55 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-ali-imran/verse-49 ## Arabic وَرَسُولاً اِلٰى بَن۪ٓي اِسْرَٓائ۪لَ اَنّ۪ي قَدْ جِئْتُكُمْ بِاٰيَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْۙ اَنّ۪ٓي اَخْلُقُ لَكُمْ مِنَ الطّ۪ينِ كَهَيْـَٔةِ الطَّيْرِ فَاَنْفُخُ ف۪يهِ فَيَكُونُ طَيْراً بِاِذْنِ اللّٰهِۚ وَاُبْرِئُ الْاَكْمَهَ وَالْاَبْرَصَ وَاُحْـيِ الْمَوْتٰى بِاِذْنِ اللّٰهِۚ وَاُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا تَأْكُلُونَ وَمَا تَدَّخِرُونَۙ ف۪ي بُيُوتِكُمْۜ اِنَّ ف۪ي ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيَةً لَكُمْ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِن۪ينَۚ ## Transcription Warasoolan ila banee isra-eelaannee qad ji/tukum bi-ayatin min rabbikum annee akhluqulakum mina atteeni kahay-ati attayrifaanfukhu feehi fayakoonu tayran bi-ithni Allahiwaobri-o al-akmaha wal-abrasa waohyeealmawta bi-ithni Allahi waonabbi-okum bimata/kuloona wama taddakhiroona fee buyootikum inna fee thalikalaayatan lakum in kuntum mu/mineen ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley as a Messenger to the tribe of Israel, saying: ‘I have brought you a Sign from your Lord. I will create the shape of a bird out of clay for you and then breathe into it and it will be a bird by Allah’s permission. I will heal the blind and lepers, and bring the dead to life, by Allah’s permission. I will tell you what you eat and what you store up in your homes. There is a Sign for you in that if you are muminun. ### Progressive Muslims And as a messenger to the Children of Israel: "I have come to you with a sign from your Lord; that I create for you from clay the form of a bird, then I blow into it and it becomes a bird by God's leave, and I heal the blind and the leapers, and give life to the dead by God's leave, and I prophesize for you what you shall eat and what to store in your homes. In that is a sign for you if you are believers." ### Shabbir Ahmed And he will be a Messenger to the Children of Israel. He will say to them, "I come to you with Revelation from your Lord. If you follow me, I will raise you from dust to the heights of glory by the Command of Allah (7:176). The blind among you will begin to see the Truth. Those of you who are spotted with sin, I will heal them, and I shall grant real life to those who are just dragging on without purpose; all according to the Laws of Allah. I am here to establish justice and equity. I shall see to it how much you hoard in your houses and how much you spend on the community. My teachings are sufficient signs for you to believe." ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation And as a messenger to the children of Israel: “I have come to you with a proof from your Lord, that I create for you from clay the likeness of a bird; then I blow into it and it becomes a bird by the leave of God. I will heal the blind and the leper, and infuse life into the dead, by the leave of God. I will tell you what you devour and what you hoard in your homes. In this will be a portent for you if you do believe. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) And [make him] a messenger to the Children of Israel, [who will say], 'Indeed I have come to you with a sign from your Lord in that I design for you from clay [that which is] like the form of a bird, then I breathe into it and it becomes a bird by permission of Allah. And I cure the blind and the leper, and I give life to the dead - by permission of Allah . And I inform you of what you eat and what you store in your houses. Indeed in that is a sign for you, if you are believers. ### Muhammad Asad and [will make him] an apostle unto the children of Israel. " "I HAVE COME unto you with a message from your Sustainer. I shall create for you out of clay, as it were, the shape of [your] destiny, and then breathe into it, so that it might become [your] destiny by God's leave; and I shall heal the blind and the leper, and bring the dead back to life by God's leave; and I shall let you know what you may eat and what you should store up in your houses. Behold, in all this there is indeed a message for you, if you are [truly] believers. ### Marmaduke Pickthall And will make him a messenger unto the Children of Israel, (saying): Lo! I come unto you with a sign from your Lord. Lo! I fashion for you out of clay the likeness of a bird, and I breathe into it and it is a bird, by Allah's leave. I heal him who was born blind, and the leper, and I raise the dead, by Allah's leave. And I announce unto you what ye eat and what ye store up in your houses. Lo! herein verily is a portent for you, if ye are to be believers. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary and he will be a Messenger to the Children of Israel.' (And when he came to them he said): 'I have come to you with a sign from your Lord. I will make for you from clay the likeness of a bird and then I will breathe into it and by the leave of Allah it will become a bird. I will also heal the blind and the leper, and by the leave of Allah bring the dead to life. I will also inform you of what things you eat and what you treasure up in your houses. Surely this is a sign for you if you are true believ-ers.[1] _Footnotes_ - [1] It is hinted here that these signs are sufficient proof that Jesus was designated by God, the Creator and Sovereign of the universe, provided people are prepared to accept the truth instead of obstinately clinging to their prejudiced views. This is further proof that Jesus had been entrusted with a mission by God. Had he not been designated by God but by an imposter he would surely have attempted to found an independent religion, exploiting his miracles to lead people away from their original faith. However, Jesus believed in, and confirmed, the validity of the teachings of the original religion which had been preached at God's behest by the earlier Prophets. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab "He shall be a Messenger to Bani Isra‘il, conveying acts of miraculous nature serving to demonstrate his delegated divine power and authority to influence their conduct and their actions. He shall be instructed to say to them "I have brought you an outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace. I shall create for you from clay the figure of a bird and bring it to life and there it shall be a living bird by Allah’s command. I shall restore the sight of the man who is congenitally blind and heal the leper, and with delegated divine authority I shall raise the dead by Allah’s command. I shall also inform you of what you eat and of what you store in reserve in your homes. This should be enough divine evidence to bring you to acknowledge the truth of my mission if indeed your hearts have been impressed with the image of religious and spiritual virtues". ### Bijan Moeinian And Jesus said: "I have been appointed as a Prophet to the Jewish nation. I am blessed by my Lord with the following miracles: I will make a bird out of clay; then I will blow into it and make it a real bird by the will of God (see John 8-28.) I will restore the vision to the blind, heal the leprous and bring dead back to life by the will of the Lord (se John 12-49.) I will tell you what you eat and what you have stored at the privacy of your home. All these miracles in order to convince those who believe in God (see John 3-2.)" ### Al-Hilali & Khan And will make him [(‘Îsâ (Jesus)] a Messenger to the Children of Israel (saying): "I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, that I design for you out of clay, a figure like that of a bird, and breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by Allâh’s Leave; and I heal him who was born blind, and the leper, and I bring the dead to life by Allâh’s Leave. And I inform you of what you eat, and what you store in your houses. Surely, therein is a sign for you, if you believe. ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali "And (appoint him) a messenger to the Children of Israel, (with this message): "'I have come to you, with a Sign from your Lord, in that I make for you out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, and breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by Allah's leave: And I heal those born blind, and the lepers, and I quicken the dead, by Allah's leave; and I declare to you what ye eat, and what ye store in your houses. In this there is surely a sign for you, if you are (truly) believers. ### Abdul Haleem He will send him as a messenger to the Children of Israel: "I have come to you with a sign from your Lord: I will make the shape of a bird for you out of clay, then breathe into it and, with God’s permission, it will become a real bird; I will heal the blind and the leper, and bring the dead back to life with God’s permission; I will tell you what you may eat and what you may store up in your houses. Aziz And he shall be a Messenger to the people of Israel (saying), "Verily, I have come to you, with a sign from Allah, namely, that I will create for you out of clay a form of a bird, and I will blow thereon and it shall become a bird by Allah's permission; and I will heal those blind from birth, and lepers; and I will raise the dead to life by Allah's permission; and I will tell you what you eat and what you store up in your houses. Verily, in these are signs for you if you have faith. ### Mahmoud Ghali And a Messenger to the Seeds (Or: sons) of Israel) (saying) that, "I have already come to you with a sign from your Lord that I create for you out of clay as the semblance of a bird, then I blow into it, so it is a bird by the permission of Allah; and I heal him (who was born) blind and the leper, and give life to the dead by the permission of Allah; and I (fully) inform you of what things you eat, and what you (safely) store in your homes. Surely in that is indeed a sign for you, in case you are (true) believers. ### George Sale and shall appoint him his apostle to the children of Israel; and he shall say, verily I come unto you with a sign from your Lord; for I will make before you, of clay, as it were the figure of a bird; then I will breathe thereon, and it shall become a bird, by the permission of God: And I will heal him that hath been blind from his birth; and the leper: And I will raise the dead by the permission of God: And I will prophesy unto you what ye eat, and what ye lay up for store in your houses. (I have come so that) I determine for your benefit from clay (a person) after the manner of a bird, then I shall breathe into him (a new spirit) so that he becomes a flier (- a spiritual person) by the authority of Allâh, and I absolve the blind and the leprous, and I quicken the (spiritually) dead by the authority of Allâh, and I inform you as to what you should eat and what you should store in your houses. Behold! these facts will surely serve you as a definite sign if you are believers. ### Ali Quli Qarai and [he will be] an apostle to the Children of Israel, [and he will declare,] ‘I have certainly brought you a sign from your Lord: I will create for you out of clay the form of a bird, then I will breathe into it, and it will become a bird by Allah’s leave. And I heal the blind and the leper and I revive the dead by Allah’s leave. And I will tell you what you have eaten and what you have stored in your houses. There is indeed a sign in that for you, should you be faithful. ### Ahmed Hulusi — Türkçe Kur'an Çözümü İsrailoğullarına Rasul olarak gönderecek. (O) diyecek ki: "Ben size Rabbinizden, varlığında O'na dair işareti taşıyan biri olarak geldim. Ben, size çamurdan kuş gibi bir şey yapıp ona üfleyeceğim de Allah'ın izniyle, hemen kuş olacak. Anadan doğma körleri ve alacalıları iyi edeceğim. Allah'ın izniyle ölüleri dirilteceğim. Yediklerinizi ve evlerinizde sakladıklarınızı da size haber vereceğim. Eğer iman edenlerden iseniz; elbette bunda sizin için ayet vardır. ### Muhammed Esed — Kur'an Mesajı Ve o'nu İsrailoğulları'na elçi (yapacak)". "Ben, size Rabbinizden bir mesaj getirdim. İsa peygamberin, sağlığı bozuk olanları iyileştirmek için topraktan kuş biçiminde yapılmış tütsülük kullandığı biçiminde yorumlayanlar da olmuştur.
