You will be paid your wages in full on the Day of Rising. Anyone who is distanced from the Fire and admitted to the Garden has triumphed. The life of this world is just the enjoyment of delusion. ### Progressive Muslims Every soul will taste death, and you will be recompensed your dues on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever is swayed from the Fire and entered into Paradise, he has indeed won. This worldly life is nothing more than the enjoyment of vanity. ### Shabbir Ahmed Every living being shall have to taste death. On the Resurrection Day you shall be paid in full what you have earned. Whoever is drawn away from the Fire, and gets admitted to Paradise, will have gained supreme triumph. Those who consider the life of the world as the end in itself should know that it is only a comfort of self-deception. The real success depends on striving for this world and for the Hereafter (2:201), (10:63-64), (14:27). ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation Every soul will taste death; and you will but be paid in full your rewards on the Day of Resurrection. And whoso is removed from the Fire and made to enter the Garden: he has attained; and the life of this world is only the enjoyment of delusion. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation Every soul will taste death, and you will be recompensed your dues on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever misses Hell, barely, and makes it to Paradise, has attained a great triumph. You will get your recompense in full on the Day of Resurrection; and he who is spared the Fire and finds his way to Paradise will meet his desire. As for the life of this world, it is nothing but a merchandise of vanity. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion. ### Muhammad Asad Every human being is bound to taste death: but only on the Day of Resurrection will you be requited in full [for whatever you have done] - whereupon he that shall be drawn away from the fire and brought into paradise will indeed have gained a triumph: for the life of this world is nothing but an enjoyment of self-delusion. ### Marmaduke Pickthall Every soul will taste of death. The life of this world is but comfort of illusion. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Everyone is bound to taste death and you shall receive your full reward on the Day of Resurrection. Then, whoever is spared the Fire and is admitted to Paradise has indeed been successful. The life of this world is merely an illusory enjoyment.[1] _Footnotes_ - [1] Whoever considers the effects of his actions in this earthly life to be of crucial significance, and sees in them the criteria of right and wrong, the criteria of that which leads either to one's ultimate salvation or to one's doom, falls prey to a serious misconception. The fact that a person is outstandingly successful in life does not necessarily prove that he is either not prove that he has either strayed from the right way or is out of favour with God. The earthly results of a man's actions are often quite different from the ones he will see in the Next Life. What is of true importance is what will happen in that eternal life rather than in this transient one. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Every soul is destined to the encounter with death and in Day of Judgement shall you be requited only with what is due to you. He who is diverted from the path leading to Hell to the path bounding for Paradise will have triumphed. Life here below is but an animate existence affording pleasure, deceiving those with foolishly credulous ambition and vain employment of time. ### Bijan Moeinian Every soul will taste the death. It is only on the Day of Resurrection that you will get your reward (the real life in Paradise.) Only those who are saved from the Fire and admitted to the Gardens of Paradise, have attained the main objective of life. As to this worldly life, it is nothing but an illusion and deceptive vanities. ### Al-Hilali & Khan Everyone shall taste death. And only on the Day of Resurrection shall you be paid your wages in full. And whoever is removed away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise, he indeed is successful. The life of this world is only the enjoyment of deception (a deceiving thing). ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali Every soul shall have a taste of death: And only on the Day of Judgment shall you be paid your full recompense. Only he who is saved far from the Fire and admitted to the Garden will have attained the object (of Life): For the life of this world is but goods and chattels of deception. ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran Every soul will taste death. And you will only receive your full reward on the Day of Judgment. Whoever is spared from the Fire and is admitted into Paradise will ˹indeed˺ triumph, whereas the life of this world is no more than the delusion of enjoyment. ### Taqi Usmani Every soul has to taste death. It is on the Day of Judgement that you shall be paid your rewards in full. So, whoever has been kept away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has really succeeded. The worldly life is nothing but an illusionary enjoyment. ### Abdul Haleem Every soul will taste death and you will be paid in full only on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever is kept away from the Fire and admitted to the Garden will have triumphed. Whoever is delivered from the Fire and admitted to paradise has certainly succeeded.
