Surah Ali 'Imran (The Family of Imraan) — سورة آل عمران - **Verse:** 178 / 200 · **Juz:** 4 · **Mushaf page:** 72 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-ali-imran/verse-178 ## Arabic وَلَا يَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُٓوا اَنَّمَا نُمْل۪ي لَهُمْ خَيْرٌ لِاَنْفُسِهِمْۜ اِنَّمَا نُمْل۪ي لَهُمْ لِيَزْدَادُٓوا اِثْماًۚ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُه۪ينٌ ## Transcription Wala yahsabanna allatheenakafaroo annama numlee lahum khayrun li-anfusihim innamanumlee lahum liyazdadoo ithman walahum AAathabunmuheen ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Those who are kafir should not imagine that the extra time We grant to them is good for them. We only allow them more time so they will increase in evildoing. They will have a humiliating punishment. ### Progressive Muslims And let not those who reject think that We are providing for them out of the goodness of themselves. We are only providing for them so that they may increase in transgression, and they will have a humiliating retribution. ### Shabbir Ahmed Let not the rejecters imagine that the Law of Requital is unreal. We give reprieve to Our servants to rethink and mend their ways. We postpone the punishment only so that they may increase in sinfulness.
