Surah Al-Qasas (The Stories) — سورة القصص - **Verse:** 63 / 88 · **Juz:** 20 · **Mushaf page:** 392 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-qasas/verse-63 ## Arabic قَالَ الَّذ۪ينَ حَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقَوْلُ رَبَّنَا هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ الَّذ۪ينَ اَغْوَيْنَاۚ اَغْوَيْنَاهُمْ كَمَا غَوَيْنَاۚ تَبَرَّأْنَٓا اِلَيْكَۘ مَا كَانُٓوا اِيَّانَا يَعْبُدُونَ ## Transcription Qala allatheena haqqaAAalayhimu alqawlu rabbana haola-i allatheenaaghwayna aghwaynahum kama ghawaynatabarra/na ilayka ma kanoo iyyanayaAAbudoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Those against whom the Word has been justly carried out will say, ‘Our Lord, those people we misled, we only misled them as we too were misled. We declare our innocence to You. It was not us they were worshipping!’ ### Progressive Muslims Those who have deserved the retribution will Say: "Our Lord, these are the ones we misled; we misled them only because we ourselves were misled. We seek to absolve ourselves to You, it was not us that they worshipped." ### Shabbir Ahmed Those against whom the charge will be proved, will say, "Our Lord! These are the ones we misled. We misled them only because we were astray ourselves. We now disown them before you. It was not us they worshiped." ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation Those upon whom the word has become binding will say: “Our Lord: these are they whom we caused to err. We caused them to err even as we ourselves did err. We seek to absolve ourselves to You, it was not us that they worshipped." ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament Those who incurred the judgment will say, "Our Lord, these are the ones we misled; we misled them only because we ourselves had gone astray. We now devote ourselves totally to You. They were not really worshipping us." ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira Those against whom the sentence is justified will say: "O Lord, these are those we had led astray as we had ourselves gone astray. We clear ourselves before You: They never worshipped us." ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) Those upon whom the word will have come into effect will say, "Our Lord, these are the ones we led to error. We led them to error just as we were in error. We declare our disassociation [from them] to You. They did not used to worship us." ### Muhammad Asad [whereupon] they against whom the word [of truth] shall thus stand revealed will exclaim: O our Sustainer! Those whom we caused to err so grievously, we but caused to err as we our­selves had been erring. We [now] disavow them before Thee: it was not us that they worshipped!" ### Marmaduke Pickthall Those concerning whom the Word will have come true will say: Our Lord! These are they whom we led astray. We led them astray even as we ourselves were astray. We declare our innocence before Thee: us they never worshipped. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Those against whom the Word will be realised[1] will say: "Our Lord, these are the ones whom we led astray just as we ourselves strayed. We absolve ourselves before You of all blame.[2] It was not us that they worshipped."[3] _Footnotes_ - [1] This implies those satans from among jinns and men, who had been set up as associates of God in the world, whose teachings had been followed in preference to divine commandments, and dependence on whom had made the people give up the right way and adopt the wrong ways of life. Such persons may not have been called gods and lords as such, but since they were worshiped and obeyed as one should worship and obey only God, they were inevitably made partners in Godhead. - [2] That is, "We did not lead them astray forcibly. We neither deprived them of their powers of seeing and hearing nor of their powers of thinking, nor there ever arose a situation when they wanted to follow the right way but we might have forcibly pulled them to the wrong way. But just as we ourselves had gone astray of our own free will, so they also of their own free will accepted the wrong way when we presented it before them. Therefore, we are not responsible for what they did: we are responsible for our acts and they are responsible for theirs." - [3] There is a subtle point to be noted here. Allah, in fact, will question those who had set up others as associates with Him, but before they make an answer, those who had been set up as associates will speak up. The reason is: When the common polytheists will be questioned thus, their leaders and guides will feel that their doomsday had come, for their followers will certainly blame them for their deviation. Therefore, even before the followers say something in response, the leaders will forestall them and start pleading their innocence. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab And there, those whose destiny as losers has been fulfilled shall say: "O Allah, our Creator", "it is these whom we led astray and caused to deviate in mind" "We caused them to deviate in purpose as we deviated in mind. We repudiate them and denounce them in Your August presence. In fact it was not us they really worshipped!" ### Bijan Moeinian Those who had introduced alternative ideologies [and were literally taken to the Heaven by their followers] would speak up and confess: "Our Lord, we misled them [with our opinionated thoughts] for the simple reason that we were misled ourselves. Now [that we know the truth,] we throw ourselves at Your mercy; our fans did not literally worship us." ### Al-Hilali & Khan Those about whom the Word will have come true (to be punished) will say: "Our Lord! These are they whom we led astray. We led them astray, as we were astray ourselves. We declare our innocence (from them) before You. It was not us they worshipped." ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali Those against whom the charge will be proved, will say: "Our Lord! These are the ones whom we led astray: we led them astray, as we were astray ourselves: we free ourselves (from them) in Thy presence: it was not us they worshipped." ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran Those ˹misleaders˺ against whom the decree ˹of torment˺ is justified will cry, "Our Lord! These ˹followers˺ are the ones we caused to deviate. We led them into deviance, for we ourselves were deviant. We disassociate ourselves ˹from them˺ before You. It was not us that they used to worship." ### Taqi Usmani Those against whom the word will come true will say, "Our Lord, these are the ones whom we led astray. We led them astray as we ourselves went astray. We negate before you our responsibility (in respect of them); it was not we whom they worshipped." ### Abdul Haleem and those [ringleaders] against whom the verdict will be passed will say, ‘Our Lord, these are the ones we caused to deviate. We caused them to deviate as we ourselves deviated, but now we disown them before You: they did not really serve us.’ ### Arthur John Arberry Those against whom the Word is realized they shall say, 'Our Lord, those whom we perverted, we perverted them even as we ourselves erred. We declare our innocence unto Thee; it was not us that they were serving.' ### E. Henry Palmer And those against whom the sentence is due shall say, 'Our Lord! these are those whom we have seduced; we seduced them as we were seduced ourselves: but we clear ourselves to thee;- they,did not worship us!' ### Hamid S. Aziz And on the Day when He will call them and say, "Where are My partners which you imagined?" ### Mahmoud Ghali The ones against whom the Word (Literally: the Saying) came true will say, "Our Lord, these are the ones whom we have misguided; we misguided them even as we ourselves were misguided. We declare quit (i.e., We are not responsible for their being misguided) to You; in no way was it us that they were worshiping." ### George Sale And they upon whom the sentence of damnation shall be justly pronounced, shall answer, these, O Lord, are those whom we seduced; we seduced them as we also had been seduced: But now we clearly quit them, and turn unto Thee. They did not worship Us, but their own lusts. ### Syed Vickar Ahamed Those against whom the charge will be proved, will say: "Our Lord! These are the ones whom we led astray: Because we were astray ourselves: We free ourselves (from them) in Your Presence: They did not worship us. " ### Amatul Rahman Omar (Thus) those who have been doomed to condemnation will say, `Our Lord! these are the people whom we led astray, we led them astray even as we had gone astray ourselves. (Now we declare before You that) we have nothing to do with them and we turn to You. It was not us that they worshipped.' ### Ali Quli Qarai Those against whom the word had become due will say, ‘Our Lord! These are the ones whom we have perverted. We perverted them as we were perverse ourselves. We plead for non-liability before You: it was not us that they worshipped.’ ### Ahmed Hulusi — Türkçe Kur'an Çözümü Bildirilen sözü hak etmiş olanlar dedi ki: "Rabbimiz. . . İşte şunlar saptırıp azdırdığımız kimseler. . . Kendimiz sapıp azdığımız gibi onları da azdırdık. . . Sana yöneldik, hüküm senin. . . Zaten onlar bize tapınmıyorlardı. " ### Ali Bulaç — Kur'an-ı Kerim ve Türkçe Anlamı Üzerlerine (azab) sözü hak olanlar derler ki: "Rabbimiz, işte bizim azdırıp saptırdıklarımız bunlar; kendimiz azıp saptığımız gibi, onları da azdırıp saptırdık. (Şimdiyse) Sana (gelip onlardan) uzaklaşmış bulunmaktayız. Onlar bize tapıyor da değillerdi." ### Bayraktar Bayraklı — Yeni Bir Anlayışın Işığında Kur'an Meali O gün, söz aleyhlerine gerçekleşmiş olanlar, "Ey Rabbimiz! Şunlar azdırdığımız kimselerdir. Biz nasıl azmışsak, onları da öyle azdırdık. Onlardan uzaklaşıp sana geldik, zaten onlar bize tapmıyorlardı" derler. ### Diyanet İşleri — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Meali Haklarında azap hükmü gerçekleşenler, "Ey Rabbimiz! İşte şunlar bizim azdırdıklarımızdır. Kendimiz azdığımız gibi onları da azdırdık. Şimdi de onlardan uzaklaşıp sana döndük. Zaten (gerçekte) onlar bize tapmıyorlardı" diyeceklerdir. ### Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır — Kur'an-ı Kerim ve Yüce Meali Aleyhlerinde söz hakk olmuş olanlar şöyle demektedir: ey bizim yegane rabbımız! daha işte şunlar: o azdırdığımız kimseler, biz onları kendi azdığımız gibi azdırdık sana teberri ettik onlar bizlere tapmıyorlardı ### Elmalılı (sadeleştirilmiş) Aleyhlerinde hüküm verilmiş olanlar: "Ey Rabbimiz, işte azdırdığımız kimseler! Biz onları kendi azdığımız gibi azdırdık. Sana masum olduğumuzu arzettik; onlar bize tapmıyorlardı. ### Gültekin Onan Üzerlerine (azab) sözü hak olanlar derler ki: "Rabbimiz, işte bizim azdırıp saptırdıklarımız bunlar; kendimiz azıp saptığımız gibi, onları da azdırıp saptırdık. (Şimdiyse) Sana (gelip onlardan) uzaklaşmış bulunmaktayız. Onlar bize tapıyor da değillerdi." ### Hasan Basri Çantay — Kur'an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim (O gün) aleyhlerinde söz hak olanlar (şöyle) demişdir (diyecekdir): "Ey Rabbimiz, işte bunlar bizim azdırdığımız kimselerdir. Kendimiz nasıl azmışsak onları da öylece azdırdık. Uzaklaşdık, sana (döndük. Zaten) onlar bize tapmıyorlardı". ### İbni Kesir Aleyhlerine hüküm gerçekleşen kimseler: Rabbımız; işte bunlar azdırdığımız kimselerdir. Kendimiz nasıl azmışsak onları da öylece biz azdırdık. Onlardan uzaklaşıp sana geldik, zaten onlar bize tapmıyorlardı, derler. ### Muhammed Esed — Kur'an Mesajı (Bunun üzerine, vaktiyle yapılan) uyarının apaçık aleyhlerine tecelli ettiğini gören kimseler: "Ey Rabbimiz!" diyecekler, "Bunlar bizim azdırdığımız kimselerdir; (evet,) biz kendimiz azdığımız gibi, onları da azdırdık (Ama şimdi) onları Senin hükmüne bırakıyoruz; zaten onların tapındığı gerçekte biz değildik". ### Şaban Piriş — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Anlamı Hüküm aleyhlerinde gerçekleşmiş olanlar: -Rabb'imiz, işte azdırdıklarımız onlardır. Kendimiz azdığımız gibi onları da azdırdık. Onlardan uzaklaştık, sana geldik. Zaten onlar bize de kulluk etmiyorlardı, dediler. ### Süleyman Ateş — Kur'an-ı Kerim ve Yüce Meali (Azab) söz(ü) üzerlerine hak olanlar: "Rabbimiz, azdırdıklarımız şunlar. Kendimiz azdığımız gibi onları da azdırdık. (Biz azdık, onlar da bize uydular. Onların yaptıklarından) uzak olduğumuzu, (bu hususta bizim suçumuz olmadığını) sana arz ederiz. Zaten onlar bize tapmıyorlardı (kendi arzularına tapıyorlardı)." derler. ### Yaşar Nuri Öztürk — Kur'an-ı Kerim Meali Üzerlerine hüküm hak olanlar şöyle diyecekler: "Rabbimiz, azdırdıklarımız işte şunlar! Kendimiz azdığımız gibi onları da azdırdık. Onlardan uzak olduğumuzu sana arz ediyoruz. Bunlar, hayallere daldırdığımız kimselerdir; tıpkı bizim daldığımız gibi daldırdık. Onlardan ilişkimizi kesip sana yöneldik. Zaten kulluk ettikleri yalnız biz değildik". ### Mehmet Okuyan — Kur’an Meal-Tefsir (O gün) hüküm aleyhlerine gerçekleşmiş olanlar şöyle diyeceklerdir: "Rabbimiz! Şunlar, azdırdığımız kişilerdir. Biz nasıl azmışsak onları da öyle azdırdık. (Kendilerinden) uzak olduğumuzu sana (arz ederiz).
