Surah Al-Qasas (The Stories) — سورة القصص - **Verse:** 50 / 88 · **Juz:** 20 · **Mushaf page:** 390 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-qasas/verse-50 ## Arabic فَاِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَج۪يبُوا لَكَ فَاعْلَمْ اَنَّمَا يَتَّبِعُونَ اَهْوَٓاءَهُمْۜ وَمَنْ اَضَلُّ مِمَّنِ اتَّبَعَ هَوٰيهُ بِغَيْرِ هُدًى مِنَ اللّٰهِۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِم۪ينَ ## Transcription Fa-in lam yastajeeboo laka faAAlamannama yattabiAAoona ahwaahum waman adallumimmani ittabaAAa hawahu bighayri hudan mina Allahiinna Allaha la yahdee alqawma aththalimeen ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley If they do not respond to you then know that they are merely following their whims and desires. And who could be further astray than someone who follows his whims and desires without any guidance from Allah? Allah does not guide the people of the wrongdoers. ### Progressive Muslims But if they fail to respond to you, then know that they follow only their desires. And who is more astray than one who follows his desire, without guidance from God God does not guide the wicked people. ### Shabbir Ahmed And since they cannot respond to this challenge of yours, know that they are only following their desires. And who could be more astray than he who follows his own desire, devoid of Guidance from Allah? For, Allah does not intervene to guide people who displace Reason with desire. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation And if they respond not to thee, know thou that they but follow their vain desires. And who is further astray than he who follows his vain desire, without guidance from God? And who is more astray than he who follows his desire, without guidance from God? God does not guide the wicked people. ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament If they fail to respond to you, then know that they follow only their own opinions. Who is farther astray than those who follow their own opinions, without guidance from GOD? GOD does not guide such wicked people. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira Then, if they cannot give you an answer, know that they are only following their lusts. And who can be farther astray than he who follows his lust without any guidance from God? And certainly God does not guide an unjust people. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) But if they do not respond to you - then know that they only follow their [own] desires. And who is more astray than one who follows his desire without guidance from Allah ? Indeed, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people. ### Muhammad Asad And since they cannot respond to this thy challenge, know that they are following only their own likes and dislikes: and who could be more astray than he who follows [but] his own likes and dislikes without any guidance from God? Verily, God does not grace with His guidance peo­ple who are given to evildoing! ### Marmaduke Pickthall And if they answer thee not, then know that what they follow is their lusts. And who goeth farther astray than he who followeth his lust without guidance from Allah. Lo! Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary But if they do not hearken to this, know well that they only follow their lusts and who is in greater error than he who follows his lusts without any guidance from Allah? Allah does not guide those given to wrong-doing. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab And if such an undertaking they fail to fulfill (and fail they undoubtedly will) then you will realize O Muhammad that they simply follow their own wishes and that they act upon their own desires. And who is more perverse than him who yields to his own imagination not based upon reason nor upon divine guidance! Allah does not guide the wrongful of actions. ### Bijan Moeinian If they fail to answer, then know that they are simply following their own opinions [which justify their lust] and who is more unjust [to himself] than an opinionated person who rejects the Highest Authority’s guidance. God definitely will not guide the unjust people for the simple reason that they do not deserve it.] ### Al-Hilali & Khan But if they answer you not (i.e. do not bring the Book nor believe in your doctrine of Islâmic Monotheism), then know that they only follow their own lusts. And who is more astray than one who follows his own lusts, without guidance from Allâh? Verily Allâh guides not the people who are Zâlimûn (wrong-doers, disobedient to Allâh, and polytheists). ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali But if they hearken not to thee, know that they only follow their own lusts: and who is more astray than one who follow his own lusts, devoid of guidance from Allah? for Allah guides not people given to wrong-doing. ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran So if they fail to respond to you, then know that they only follow their desires. And who could be more astray than those who follow their desires with no guidance from Allah? Surely Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people. ### Taqi Usmani So if they do not respond to you, be sure that they are only following their desires. And who is more astray than the one who follows his desire without guidance from Allah. Surely Allah does not take the wrongdoing people onto the right path. ### Abdul Haleem If they do not respond to you, you will know that they follow only their own desires. Who is further astray than the one who follows his own desires with no guidance from God? Truly God does not guide those who do wrong. ### Arthur John Arberry Then if they do not answer thee, know that they are only following their caprices; and who is further astray than he who follows his caprice without guidance from God? Surely God guides not the people of the evildoers. ### E. Aziz Say, "Bring, then, a book from Allah which shall be a better guide than both that I may follow it, if you are truthful. " ### Mahmoud Ghali So, in case they do not respond to you, then know that they are only closely following their prejudices. And who is further into error than he who closely follows his prejudice, without guidance from Allah? Surely Allah does not guide the unjust people. ### George Sale But if they return thee no answer, know that they only follow their own desires: And who erreth more widely from the truth than he who followeth his own desire, without a direction from God? Verily God directeth not the unjust people. ### Syed Vickar Ahamed But if they do not listen to you, (You) know that they only follow their own wishes: And who is more lost than one who follows his own wishes without the guidance from Allah? Verily, Allah does not guide people used to doing wrong. ### Amatul Rahman Omar If they (do not accept the challenge and) do not answer you, know that they are just following their own low and evil desires. And who should be more erring than one who leaving aside the guidance from Allâh only follows his own low and evil desires. Verily, Allâh does not guide the wrongdoing people to success. ### Ali Quli Qarai Then if they do not respond to you[r] [summons] know that they only follow their desires. And who is more astray than him who follows his desires without any guidance from Allah? Indeed Allah does not guide the wrongdoing lot. ### Ahmed Hulusi — Türkçe Kur'an Çözümü Çağrına uymazlarsa, bil ki onlar yalnızca kendi asılsız hayallerine tabi oluyorlar! Allah'tan (hakikatleri Esma mertebesinden, kendilerinde açığa çıkan hakikat ilmi olmaksızın), kendi (vehminin getirisi olan) hayal ve tasavvurlarına tabi olandan daha sapkın kimdir? Muhakkak ki Allah zalimler kavmini hidayet etmez. ### Ali Bulaç — Kur'an-ı Kerim ve Türkçe Anlamı Buna rağmen sana icabet etmeyecek olurlarsa, artık bil ki, onlar, gerçekten kendi heva (istek ve tutku)larına uymaktadırlar. Oysa Allah'tan bir kılavuz (doğru yol gösterici) olmaksızın, kendi istek ve tutkularına (hevasına) uyandan daha sapık kimdir? Şüphesiz Allah, haksızlık eden toplumu doğru yola eriştirmez." ### Diyanet İşleri — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Meali Eğer (bu konuda) sana cevap veremezlerse, bil ki onlar sadece kendi nefislerinin arzularına uymaktadırlar. Kim, Allah'tan bir yol gösterme olmaksızın kendi nefsinin arzusuna uyandan daha sapıktır. Şüphesiz Allah, zalimler toplumunu doğruya iletmez. ### Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır — Kur'an-ı Kerim ve Yüce Meali Yine sana icabet etmek istemezlerse artık bil ki onlar sırf kendi hevaları peşinde gidiyorlar, halbuki Allahdan bir doğru delil olmaksızın mücerred kendi hevası peşinde giden kimselerden daha şaşkın kim olabilir? Muhakkak ki Allah zalimler güruhunu muvaffak etmez ### Elmalılı (sadeleştirilmiş) Eğer yine çağrına uymazlarsa, artık bil ki, onlar sadece kendi heveslerinin peşinde gidiyorlar. Allah tarafından bir doğru delil olmaksızın sırf kendi hevesleri peşinde giden kimselerden daha şaşkın kim olabilir? Muhakkak ki Allah zalimler topluluğunu başarıya erdirmez. ### Gültekin Onan Buna rağmen sana icabet etmeyecek olurlarsa, artık bil ki, onlar, gerçekten kendi heva (istek ve tutku)larına uymaktadırlar. Oysa Tanrı'dan bir kılavuz (doğru yol gösterici ) olmaksızın, kendi istek ve tutkularına (hevasına) uyandan daha sapık kimdir? Şüphesiz Tanrı, zulmeden bir kavme hidayet vermez. ### Hasan Basri Çantay — Kur'an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim (Bu kerre de) sana icabet (senin teklifini kabul) etmek istemezlerse bil ki onlar sırf kendi hevalarının arkasında gitmekdedirler. Halbuki Allahdan dosdoğru bir delil olmaksızın (dinde yalınız) kendi havasına uyandan daha sapık kimdir? Şübhe yok ki Allah zaalimler güruhunu muvaffak etmez. ### İbni Kesir Şayet sana cevab vermezlerse, bil ki; onlar, sırf kendi heveslerine uymaktadırlar. Halbuki Allah'tan bir hidayet olmaksızın kendi hevesine uyandan daha sapık kim vardır. Muhakkak ki Allah; zalimler güruhunu hidayete erdirmez. ### Muhammed Esed — Kur'an Mesajı Ve eğer senin bu çağrına da karşılık veremiyorlarsa, artık bil ki, onlar sadece geçici doyumlara tutsak, bencil ve çıkarcı isteklerinin peşindedirler. Allah'tan bir doğru yol bilgisi olmaksızın, geçici aldatıcı doyumlar, bencil ve çıkarcı istekler peşinde kendine yol arayan kişiden daha sapık kim olabilir ki? Gerçek şu ki, Allah zulmü kendine yol edinen toplumu doğru yola eriştirmez! ### Şaban Piriş — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Anlamı Eğer sana cevap veremezlerse, bil ki onlar, ancak arzularına tabi oluyorlar. Allah'ın gösterdiği doğru yolu bırakıp da arzularının peşinden giden kimseden daha sapık kim vardır? Şüphesiz Allah, zalim toplumu doğru yola iletmez. ### Süleyman Ateş — Kur'an-ı Kerim ve Yüce Meali Eğer sana cevap veremezlerse bil ki onlar, keyiflerine uyuyorlar. Allah'tan bir yol gösterici olmadan, yalnız kendi keyfine uyandan daha sapık kim olabilir?
