Surah Al-Qasas (The Stories) — سورة القصص - **Verse:** 32 / 88 · **Juz:** 20 · **Mushaf page:** 388 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-qasas/verse-32 ## Arabic اُسْلُكْ يَدَكَ ف۪ي جَيْبِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَٓاءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُٓوءٍۘ وَاضْمُمْ اِلَيْكَ جَنَاحَكَ مِنَ الرَّهْبِ فَذَانِكَ بُرْهَانَانِ مِنْ رَبِّكَ اِلٰى فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَا۬ئِه۪ۜ اِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْماً فَاسِق۪ينَ ## Transcription Osluk yadaka fee jaybika takhruj baydaamin ghayri soo-in wadmum ilayka janahakamina arrahbi fathanika burhanani minrabbika ila firAAawna wamala-ihi innahum kanooqawman fasiqeen ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Put your hand inside your shirt front. It will emerge pure white yet quite unharmed. And hug your arms to your sides to still your fear. These are two proofs from your Lord for Pharaoh and his ruling circle. And guard thy heart from fear. Then these shall be two proofs from your Lord unto Pharaoh and his chiefs. Lo! they are evil-living folk. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Put your hand into your bosom, and it will come out shining without any blemish;[1] and draw your hand close to your body to still your fear.[2] Those are the two clear Signs from your Lord for Pharaoh and his chiefs, for truly they are a disobedient people."[3] _Footnotes_ - [1] These two miracles were shown to the Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) at that time so that, firstly, he himself is fully convinced that the same Being Who is speaking to him is, in fact, the Creator and Master and Ruler of the whole system of the universe and secondly, he should have full satisfaction that he was not going unarmed before Pharaoh, to perform the dangerous mission assigned to him, but would go well armed with the two powerful weapons. - [2] That is, "Whenever you experience the fear of any danger, fold back your arm to yourself: this will strengthen your heart and will deliver you completely from every feeling of fear and dread." - [3] The arm probably implies the right arm. The arm can be folded back in two ways: either by bringing the arm and pressing it against the side, or by pressing one hand under the armpit of the other. Probably the first way was implied, for in that case the other person cannot perceive that one is specially doing so in order to ward off fear. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab "Put your hand", He was told, "into your bosom and it shall come out transfigured in a radiance of white divine light unharmed and all sound, and draw your hand to your side to put off the robe of fear". "These are two divine signs evincing both My Omnipotence and Authority to present to Pharaoh and his peers, for they have been a people who confirmed themselves in the horrid purpose and the ill-intention". ### Bijan Moeinian "Put your hand into your pocket; when you take it out of your pocket, you will find it shining without burning you. This practice will deliver you from any fear. These are two miracles that you will show to Pharaoh and his people; they have become very wicked." ### Al-Hilali & Khan "Put your hand in your bosom, it will come forth white without a disease; and draw your hand close to your side to be free from the fear (which you suffered from the snake, and also your hand will return to its original state). These are two Burhâns (signs, miracles, evidence, proofs) from your Lord to Fir‘aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs. Verily, they are the people who are Fâsiqûn (rebellious, disobedient to Allâh). ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali "Move thy hand into thy bosom, and it will come forth white without stain (or harm), and draw thy hand close to thy side (to guard) against fear. Those are the two credentials from thy Lord to Pharaoh and his Chiefs: for truly they are a people rebellious and wicked." ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran Now put your hand through ˹the opening of˺ your collar, it will come out ˹shining˺ white, unblemished.[1] And cross your arms tightly to calm your fears.[2] These are two proofs from your Lord to Pharaoh and his chiefs.
