Surah Al-Qamar (The Moon) — سورة القمر - **Verse:** 28 / 55 · **Juz:** 27 · **Mushaf page:** 529 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-qamar/verse-28 ## Arabic وَنَبِّئْهُمْ اَنَّ الْمَٓاءَ قِسْمَةٌ بَيْنَهُمْۚ كُلُّ شِرْبٍ مُحْتَضَرٌ ## Transcription Wanabbi/hum anna almaa qismatunbaynahum kullu shirbin muhtadar ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Inform them that the water is to be shared out between them, each drinking by turn. ’ ### Progressive Muslims And inform them that the water shall be divided between them; each shall be allowed to drink in the specified time. ### Shabbir Ahmed And let them know that the water must be shared by all. Every drinking will be witnessed. Every drinking will be witnessed. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Let them know that the water should be divided between them and the she-camel, each availing their turn."[1] _Footnotes_ - [1] This explains the verse: We are sending the she-camel as a trial for them. The trial was that suddenly a she-camel was produced before them and they were told that one day she would drink the water all by herself and the next day they would be allowed to have water for themselves and their cattle. On the day of her turn neither would any of them himself come to any of the springs and wells to take water nor bring his cattle for watering. This challenge was given on behalf of the person about whom they themselves admitted that he had no army and no hosts to support him. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab "And tell them that the water is to be distributed among their number including the she-camel, and that each share falls to each in turn.
