Surah Al-Mursalat (The Emissaries) — سورة المرسلات - **Verse:** 27 / 50 · **Juz:** 29 · **Mushaf page:** 580 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-mursalat/verse-27 ## Arabic وَجَعَلْنَا ف۪يهَا رَوَاسِيَ شَامِخَاتٍ وَاَسْقَيْنَاكُمْ مَٓاءً فُرَاتاًۜ ## Transcription WajaAAalna feeha rawasiyashamikhatin waasqaynakum maan furata ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Did We not place firmly embedded mountains in it, soaring high into the air, and give you sweet fresh water to drink? ### Progressive Muslims And We made massive stabilizers in it, and We gave you to drink fresh water ### Shabbir Ahmed And placed therein firm lofty mountains (serving as water reservoirs), and given you fresh water to drink. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation And We made therein high, firm mountains, and gave you to drink sweet water. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation And We made massive stabilizers in it, and We gave you to drink fresh water? ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament We placed on it high mountains, and provided you with fresh water to drink. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira And placed in it lofty and broad stablisers, and gave you sweet water to drink? ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water. ### Muhammad Asad and have We not set on it proud, firm mountains, and given you sweet water to drink? ### Marmaduke Pickthall And placed therein high mountains and given you to drink sweet water therein? ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary and did We not firmly fix towering mountains on it and give you sweet water to drink?[1] _Footnotes_ - [1] This is yet another argument for the possibility and reasonableness of the Hereafter. It is this very earth which since millions and millions of years has been sustaining and providing for countless different kinds of creatures. Every kind of vegetation and every kind of animal and man are living on it. To meet the requirements of all unmeasureable treasures of provisions of different kinds are coming out of its belly. Then it is on this very earth that countless members of all kinds of creatures die every day, but there exists a wonderful arrangement in that the dead bodies of all creatures are deposited in the same earth, and it again becomes ready for sustaining life and providing home to the new members of every species. This earth has not been shaped like a smooth-surfaced ball either, but here and there on it there have been set high mountains and mountain-ranges, which play an important role in causing the change of seasons and rainfall, the birth of rivers, creation of fertile valleys, growth of trees which supply timber, and provisions of a variety of minerals and stones. Then in the interior of this very earth, sweet water has been stored and on its surface rivers of sweet water have been arranged and also from the saline waters of the sea vapors of pure water are raised and caused to fall as rain from the sky. Is not all this an argument to prove that an All- Powerful Sovereign has created all this and He is not only All-Powerful but All-Knowing and All-Wise as well? Now, if this earth has been thus equipped and provisioned only by His power and wisdom, why should an intelligent man find it difficult to understand that the same Sovereign by His power can wind up this world and create another world on a new pattern, and the demand of His wisdom is that he should create another world after it so that He may call man to account for the deeds he has done in this world? ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Did We not establish therein firm mountains* to afford stabilization, and furnish you with a supply of fresh water from springs, rain fall and other sources, each, in a blessed stead. ### Bijan Moeinian And raised on the earth high mountains and provided you with sweet water which is essential for you to life? ### Al-Hilali & Khan And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains, and have given you to drink sweet water? ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali And made therein mountains standing firm, lofty (in stature); and provided for you water sweet (and wholesome)? ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran and placed upon it towering, firm mountains, and given you fresh water to drink? ### Taqi Usmani And We placed towering mountains therein, and provided you with sweet water to drink. ### Abdul Haleem Did We not place firm, lofty mountains on it and provide you with sweet water? ### Arthur John Arberry Set We not therein soaring mountains?
