Surah Al-Mu'minun (The Believers) — سورة المؤمنون - **Verse:** 27 / 118 · **Juz:** 18 · **Mushaf page:** 342 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-muminun/verse-27 ## Arabic فَاَوْحَيْنَٓا اِلَيْهِ اَنِ اصْنَعِ الْفُلْكَ بِاَعْيُنِنَا وَوَحْيِنَا فَاِذَا جَٓاءَ اَمْرُنَا وَفَارَ التَّنُّورُۙ فَاسْلُكْ ف۪يهَا مِنْ كُلٍّ زَوْجَيْنِ اثْنَيْنِ وَاَهْلَكَ اِلَّا مَنْ سَبَقَ عَلَيْهِ الْقَوْلُ مِنْهُمْۚ وَلَا تُخَاطِبْن۪ي فِي الَّذ۪ينَ ظَلَمُواۚ اِنَّهُمْ مُغْرَقُونَ ## Transcription Faawhayna ilayhi ani isnaAAialfulka bi-aAAyunina wawahyina fa-ithajaa amruna wafara attannooru faslukfeeha min kullin zawjayni ithnayni waahlaka illaman sabaqa AAalayhi alqawlu minhum wala tukhatibneefee allatheena thalamoo innahum mughraqoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley We revealed to him: ‘Build the Ship under Our supervision and as We reveal. When Our command comes and water bubbles up from the earth, load into it a pair of every species, and your family – except for those among them against whom the word has already gone ahead. And do not address Me concerning those who do wrong. They shall be drowned. ### Progressive Muslims So We inspired him: "Construct the Ship under Our eyes and Our inspiration. Then, when Our command comes and the volcano erupts, then you shall take on the Ship two from every pair and your family, except for those of them upon whom the word has come. And do not address Me regarding those who have done wrong, for they will be drowned." ### Shabbir Ahmed Then We revealed unto him thus, "Build, under Our eyes and according to Our revealed instructions, the ark. Then, as Our Command comes to pass and the torrent gushes forth, take on board a couple each of the domesticated animals. As well as your family and followers except him against whom the Word has already gone forth (for his persistent denial). And do not plead with Me on behalf of the oppressors. Verily, they will be drowned." ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation And We instructed him: “Make thou the ship under Our eyes and Our instruction; then when Our command comes and the oven boils over, load thou therein of each kind two, and thy household save him against whom the word has gone forth among them. Then, when Our command comes and the chamber erupts, then you shall take in it a pair from each kind, and your family; except for those of them upon whom the word has come. And do not address Me regarding those who have done wrong, for they will be drowned." ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament We then inspired him: "Make the watercraft under our watchful eyes, and in accordance with our inspiration. When our command comes, and the atmosphere boils up, put on it a pair of every kind (of your domesticated animals), and your family, except those condemned to be doomed. Do not speak to Me on behalf of those who transgressed; they will be drowned., ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira So We asked him to build the ark under Our eyes and guidance, (and said): "When Our command is issued and the source of water boils over, put a pair of every species in it, and your family except those for whom Our sentence has been passed already; and do not speak to Me for those who are wicked: They will be drowned. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) So We inspired to him, "Construct the ship under Our observation, and Our inspiration, and when Our command comes and the oven overflows, put into the ship from each [creature] two mates and your family, except those for whom the decree [of destruction] has proceeded. And do not address Me concerning those who have wronged; indeed, they are to be drowned. ### Muhammad Asad Thereupon We inspired him thus: "Build, un­der Our eyes and according to Our inspiration, the ark [that shall save thee and those who follow thee]. And when Our judgment comes to pass, and waters gush forth in torrents over the face of the earth, place on board of this [ark] one pair of each [kind of animal] of either sex, as well as thy family - excepting those on whom sentence has already been passed; and do not appeal to Me [any more] in behalf of those who are bent on evildoing - for, behold, they are destined to be drowned! ### Marmaduke Pickthall Then We inspired in him, saying: Make the ship under Our eyes and Our inspiration. Then, when Our command cometh and the oven gusheth water, introduce therein of every (kind) two spouses, and thy household save him thereof against whom the Word hath already gone forth. And plead not with Me on behalf of those who have done wrong. Lo! they will be drowned. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Thereupon We revealed to him, saying: "Build the Ark under Our eyes and according to Our revelation. And when Our command comes to pass[1] and the oven boils over, take on board a pair each from every species, and also take your household except those of them against whom sentence has already been passed and do not plead to Me on behalf of the wrong-doers. They are doomed to be drowned. _Footnotes_ - [1] Some commentators think that tannur means the earth; others take it for the highest part of the earth; and still others think that the words far-at-tannur in the text have been used for the break of dawn. There are some who express the opinion that the words have been used metaphorically for the creation of turmoil. But in view of the context, we see no reason why one should take a far fetched figurative meaning of a clear word of the Quran. It appears that a particular oven (tannur) had been earmarked for the deluge to start from, which was to all appearances an unexpected origin of the doom of the wretched people. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab There and then, We inspired him. " Construct the Ark, " We said, "under Our supervision and according to Our inspired divine instructions. "And when Our command comes to pass and you see the water bubbling up and rising in billows and erupting through the earth's surface inundating the land, you just carry with you on board ship a pair-a male and a female- of every kind (or possibly two pairs of every species of the living creatures) together with your family except those against whom Allah has already pledged His word." "And do not talk to Me O NUh about those wrongful of actions nor plead on their behalf They shall most certainly be drowned." ### Bijan Moeinian I replied: "Start making a ship under My supervision. Then, when the springs starts to gush the water, I will command you to take on board a pair of each animal as well as your folks (except those who are already condemned.) Do not ask me to change My mind about the wrongdoers as they must be drowned. ### Al-Hilali & Khan So We revealed to him (saying): "Construct the ship under Our Eyes and under Our Revelation (guidance). Then, when Our Command comes, and water gushes forth from the oven, take on board of each kind two (male and female), and your family, except those thereof against whom the Word has already gone forth. And address Me not in favour of those who have done wrong. Verily, they are to be drowned. ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali So We inspired him (with this message): "Construct the Ark within Our sight and under Our guidance: then when comes Our Command, and the fountains of the earth gush forth, take thou on board pairs of every species, male and female, and thy family- except those of them against whom the Word has already gone forth: And address Me not in favour of the wrong-doers; for they shall be drowned (in the Flood). ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran So We inspired him: "Build the Ark under Our ˹watchful˺ Eyes and directions. Then when Our command comes and the oven bursts ˹with water˺,[1] take on board a pair from every species along with your family—except those against whom the decree ˹to drown˺ has already been passed. And do not plead with Me for those who have done wrong, for they will surely be drowned." ### Taqi Usmani So, We sent Our revelation to him, saying, "Make the ship under Our eyes and Our revelation. So, when Our command will come, and the oven will gush forth, take on its board a pair of two from each (species) along with your family, except those of them against whom the word has already come to pass. And do not speak to Me (in favor) of those who have done wrong. They are sure to be drowned. ### Abdul Haleem and so We revealed to him: ‘Build the Ark under Our watchful eye and according to Our revelation. " ### Mahmoud Ghali So We revealed to him, (saying), "Work the ship under Our Eyes and Our Revelation; so, when Our Command comes and the oven boils over, then dispatch therein two pairs (Or: spouses) of every kind and your family- except for him against whom the Saying has already gone before. And do not address Me concerning the ones who have done injustice; surely they will be drowned. ### George Sale And We revealed our orders unto him, saying, make the ark in our sight; and according to our revelation. And when our decree cometh to be executed, and the oven shall boil and pour forth water, carry into it of every species of animals one pair; and also thy family, except such of them on whom a previous sentence of destruction hath passed: And speak not unto Me in behalf of those who have been unjust; for they shall be drowned. ### Syed Vickar Ahamed So, We revealed to him (this command): "Build the Ark within Our view and under Our guidance: Then when Our command comes (true), and the fountains of the earth open up, you take (into the Ark) pairs of every species, male and female, and your family— Except those of them against whom the word has already gone out: And do not ask Me for favor to the wrongdoers; Surely, they will be drowned (in the flood). ### Amatul Rahman Omar Then We sent Our revelation to him (directing him), `Make the Ark under Our eyes and (according to the dictates of) Our revelation. And when (the time of) Our judgment comes and the waters of the valley gush forth, then embark there in (the Ark) two of every species, a pair (of every thing that you may need), and your companions, except those of them against whom (Our) word (of condemnation for their misdeeds) has already gone forth. But do not plead with Me in favour of those who have acted unjustly for they are (doomed) to be drowned. ### Ali Quli Qarai So We revealed to him: ‘Build the ark before Our eyes and by Our revelation. When Our edict comes and the oven gushes [a stream of water], bring into it a pair of every kind [of animal], and your family, except those of them against whom the decree has gone beforehand, and do not plead with Me for those who are wrongdoers: they shall indeed be drowned.’ ### Ahmed Hulusi — Türkçe Kur'an Çözümü Bunun üzerine Ona (Nuh'a) vahyettik ki: "Gözlerimiz olarak (gözetimimiz anlamına gelse de burada maiyet sırrına işaret vardır) ve vahyimizle gemiyi yap. . . İş başladığında (sular yükseldiğinde) ve fırın kaynadığı (buhar kazanı mı vardı acaba) vakit, her eşi olandan bir çift ve onlardan, aleyhine daha önce hüküm verilmiş olanlar hariç ehlini, gemiye al. Emrimiz gelip de sular kaynayınca, her cinsten birer çifti ve aleyhinde hüküm verilmiş olanlar dışında aileni de gemiye bindir. Zalimler hakkında benden bir şey isteme!Şüphesiz onlar boğulacaklardır." ### Diyanet İşleri — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Meali Bunun üzerine Nuh'a, "Bizim gözetimimiz altında ve vahyimize göre o gemiyi yap" diye vahyettik. "Bizim emrimiz gelip de tandır kaynamaya başlayınca, (sular coşup taştığında Nuh'a) dedik ki: "Her cins canlıdan (erkekli dişili) birer çift, bir de kendileri aleyhinde daha önce hüküm verilmiş olanlardan başka aileni gemiye al ve zulmeden kimseler hakkında bana hiç yalvarma! Şüphesiz onlar suda boğulacaklardır." ### Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır — Kur'an-ı Kerim ve Yüce Meali Biz de ona şöyle vahyettik: bizim nezaretimiz ve vahyimizle gemiyi yap, sonra emrimiz gelip de tennur feveran edince hemen ona topundan bir iki çift ve aleyhinde söz sebketmiş olandan başka ehlini sok ve o zulm edenler hakkında bana bir hıtabda bulunma, çünkü onlar gark olunacaklardır ### Elmalılı (sadeleştirilmiş) Biz de ona şöyle vahyettik: "Bizim gözetimimiz altında ve vahyimizle gemiyi yap sonra emrimiz gelip de tandır (kazan) kaynayınca hemen ona topundan bir iki çifti ve aleyhinde önceden huküm verilmiş olanların dışında aileni ona bindir ve o zulmedenler hakkında bana yakarışta bulunma; çünkü onlar kesinlikle boğulacaklardır! ### Gültekin Onan Böylelikle biz ona: "Gözetimimiz altında ve vahyimizle gemi yap. Nitekim bizim buyruğumuz gelip de tandır kızışınca, onun içine her (tür hayvandan) ikişer çift ile, içlerinden aleyhlerine söz geçmiş olanlar dışında ehlini (aileni) de alıp koy; zulmedenler konusunda bana muhatap olma, çünkü onlar boğulacaklardır" diye vahyettik. ### Hasan Basri Çantay — Kur'an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim Biz de ona (şöyle) vahyetdik: "Bizim nezaaretimiz ve vahyimizle gemi yap sen. Nihayet (helaklerine) emrimiz gelib de o fırın kaynayınca ona her (nev'i hayvanlardan erkek ve dişi) ikişer çift ile aileni alıb içerisine gir. (Kavminin) içinden aleyhlerine söz geçmiş (hüküm giymiş) olanlar müstesna. O zulmedenler (in kurtulması) hakkında bana hitabda bulunma. Çünkü onlar boğul (mıya mahkum ol) muşlardır". ### İbni Kesir Ona vahyettik ki: Gözetimimiz altında sana bildirdiğimiz gibi gemiyi yap. Buyruğumuz gelip de sular kaynayınca her cinsten ikişer çiftive aleyhine hüküm verilmiş olanın dışında kalan çoluk çocuğunu alıp gemiye bindir. Zalimler için bana başvurma. Çünkü onlar boğulacaklardır. ### Muhammed Esed — Kur'an Mesajı Bunun üzerine, Biz de o'na: "Bizim gözetimimiz altında ve (sana) vahyettiğimiz yöntemlerle (seni ve seninle beraber olanları kurtaracak olan) gemiyi yap;" diye vahyettik, "ve hükmümüz gerçekleşip de seller halinde yeryüzünü sular kapladığı zaman her cins (hayvandan) bir çiftle birlikte -haklarında ceza hükmü verilmiş olanlar dışında- aileni bu (gemiye) bindir; ve sakın, o haksızlık yapmış olanlar için Bana başvurma, çünkü onlar kaçınılmaz olarak boğulacaklar! ### Şaban Piriş — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Anlamı Biz de ona şöyle vahyettik: "Gözetimimiz altında bildirdiğimiz gibi bir gemi yap. Buyruğumuz gelip de tandır kaynayınca, her cinsten ikişer çift ve aleyhinde hüküm verilmiş olanlar dışında kalan aileni gemiye bindir. Zalimler için bana baş vurma, çünkü onlar boğulacaklardır." ### Süleyman Ateş — Kur'an-ı Kerim ve Yüce Meali Biz de ona vahyettik ki: "Gözlerimizin önünde ve vahyimiz(öğretimimiz)le o gemiyi yap. Bizim buyruğumuz gelip de tandır kaynayınca her cinsten iki çift ve aileni de alıp ona sok. Yalnız onlar içinde alehylerine söz geçmiş (azabımıza uğrama hükmü giymiş) olanları bırak. O zulmedenler hakkında bana yalvarma; onlar, mutlaka boğulacaklardır! ### Yaşar Nuri Öztürk — Kur'an-ı Kerim Meali Bunun üzerine biz, Nuh'a şöyle vahyettik: "Gözlerimizin önünde ve vahyimize uygun olarak gemiyi yap. Emrimiz gelip tandır kaynayınca, ailenle birlikte her türden iki çifti gemiye sok. İçlerinden, haklarında daha önce hüküm verilmiş olanları dışta bırak. Zulmetmiş olanlar hakkında bana yakarıp durma. Onlar kesinlikle boğulacaklardır." ### Mustafa İslamoğlu — Hayat Kitabı Kur’an Bunun üzerine ona şöyle vahyetmiştik: "Bizim rehberliğimiz altında ve bildirdiğimiz şekilde gemiyi inşa et; unutma ki hükmümüzün vakti gelip çattığında, tandır da kaynamaya başlar. Bu takdirde sen yanına her tür (canlıdan) birer çift ve bir de kendileri hakkında hüküm kesinleşmiş olanlar hariç, aile efradını al! Ama sakın kendilerine kıymakta ısrar eden kimseler hakkında Benimle muhatap olayım deme! Karar kesin: onlar boğulacaklar! ### Ali Bulaç — Kur'an-ı Kerim ve Türkçe Anlamı Böylelikle biz ona: 'Gözetimimiz altında ve vahyimizle gemi yap.
