Surah Al-Mu'minun (The Believers) — سورة المؤمنون - **Verse:** 14 / 118 · **Juz:** 18 · **Mushaf page:** 341 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-muminun/verse-14 ## Arabic ثُمَّ خَلَقْنَا النُّطْفَةَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقْنَا الْعَلَقَةَ مُضْغَةً فَخَلَقْنَا الْمُضْغَةَ عِظَاماً فَكَسَوْنَا الْعِظَامَ لَحْماًۗ ثُمَّ اَنْشَأْنَاهُ خَلْقاً اٰخَرَۜ فَتَبَارَكَ اللّٰهُ اَحْسَنُ الْخَالِق۪ينَۜ ## Transcription Thumma khalaqna annutfataAAalaqatan fakhalaqna alAAalaqata mudghatanfakhalaqna almudghata AAithamanfakasawna alAAithama lahmanthumma ansha/nahu khalqan akhara fatabarakaAllahu ahsanu alkhaliqeen ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley then formed the drop into a clot and formed the clot into a lump and formed the lump into bones and clothed the bones in flesh; and then brought him into being as another creature. Blessed be Allah, the Best of Creators! ### Progressive Muslims Then We created the seed into an embryo, then We created the embryo into a fetus, then We created the fetus into bone, then We covered the bone with flesh, then We brought forth a new creation. So blessed be Allah, the Best of creators! ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary then We made this drop into a clot, then We made the clot into a lump, then We made the lump into bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh,[1] and then We caused it to grow into another creation.[2] Thus Most Blessed is Allah, the Best of all those that create.[3] _Footnotes_ - [1] For explanation see( E.Ns 5, 6 and9 of Surah Al-Hajj). - [2] Now let the disbelievers consider the message of the Prophet (peace be upon him) by observing their own creation, for this will convince them of its truth by proving its doctrine of Tauhid. The origin of man is from a mere inanimate sperm-drop, which undergoes several changes in the womb of the mother. But after this, when it sees the light of the day, it is quite a different creation from the embryo in the womb. Now it can hear, it can see, and in due course of time it can talk and think. Then, when he reaches adulthood and maturity, he is capable of performing wonderful deeds. It is obvious that Allah alone could create all these characteristics in an inanimate sperm-drop. - [3] The various stages of the creation of man have been cited to prove that Allah is All-Blessed and there is no human language which can describe the praise of which He is worthy, as if to say: That Allah Who is able to develop an essence of clay into a perfect man, does not have any partner in His Godhead. Moreover, He has the power to raise him up again after his death, and is capable of working even greater wonders. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Then We made the Notfa develop into a clinging organism*, Then We made the clinging organism develop into a bolus** -like mass of coherent body of matter. Then We made the bolus- like mass develop into bones and We clothed the bones with flesh. Out of this We raised a different being. Glorified be Allah and extolled be His glorious attributes; He is the Unique Creator. ### Bijan Moeinian From the fertilized egg, I created the embryo; from the embryo I led him into a little lump; then I created his bones; then I covered the bones with flesh; and then, I introduced him to the world in his final stage of evolution.
