Surah Al-Mu'minun (The Believers) — سورة المؤمنون - **Verse:** 117 / 118 · **Juz:** 18 · **Mushaf page:** 348 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-muminun/verse-117 ## Arabic وَمَنْ يَدْعُ مَعَ اللّٰهِ اِلٰهاً اٰخَرَۙ لَا بُرْهَانَ لَهُ بِه۪ۙ فَاِنَّمَا حِسَابُهُ عِنْدَ رَبِّه۪ۜ اِنَّهُ لَا يُفْلِحُ الْكَافِرُونَ ## Transcription Waman yadAAu maAAa Allahi ilahanakhara la burhana lahu bihi fa-innamahisabuhu AAinda rabbihi innahu la yuflihualkafiroon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Whoever calls on another god together with Allah, has no grounds for doing so at all and his reckoning is with his Lord. Truly the kafirun have no success. ### Progressive Muslims And whosoever calls on another god with God when he has no proof for such, then his judgment is with his Lord. The rejecters will never succeed. ### Shabbir Ahmed Hence, anyone who calls upon gods besides Allah, has no evidence of it. And his account rests with his Lord? Verily, such deniers of the Truth will not attain the ultimate prosperity. (23:1). ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation And whoso calls, with God, to another god, whereof he has no evidence, then is his reckoning but with his Lord; the false claimers of guidance will not be successful. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation And whoever calls on another god with God when he has no proof for such, then his judgment is with his Lord. The rejecters will never succeed. ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament Anyone who idolizes beside GOD any other god, and without any kind of proof, his reckoning rests with his Lord. The disbelievers never succeed. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira Whoever worships another god apart from God, for which he holds no proof, will have to account for it before his Lord. Verily the unbelievers will not prosper. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) And whoever invokes besides Allah another deity for which he has no proof - then his account is only with his Lord. Indeed, the disbelievers will not succeed. ### Muhammad Asad Hence, he who invokes, side by side with God, any other deity [- a deity] for whose existence he has no evidence - shall but find his reckoning with his Sustainer: [and,] verily, such deniers of the truth will never attain to a happy state! ### Marmaduke Pickthall He who crieth unto any other god along with Allah hath no proof thereof. His reckoning is only with his Lord. Lo! disbelievers will not be successful. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary He who invokes any other god along with Allah " one for whom he has no evidence"[1] his reckoning is with his Lord alone.[2] Indeed, these unbelievers shall not prosper.[3] _Footnotes_ - [1] It may also be translated as: The one who invokes any other deity along with Allah, has nothing to support him in this act. - [2] That is, he cannot escape accountability. - [3] Again, the reference is to those who will attain the success and to those who will be deprived of it. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab And he who invokes, or incorporates with Allah, another llah without presenting evidence convincing the mind shall have much to answer for. This is in reply to the charges put against him by Allah, his Creator, in Day of Judgement. Never shall the infidels who deny Allah and His statutes find an instance of physical or spiritual prosperity Hereafter. ### Bijan Moeinian Whoever worship any other "Unproven to exist god" beside God, has to answer to God. The disbelievers are surely the losers. ### Al-Hilali & Khan And whoever invokes (or worships), besides Allâh, any other ilâh (god), of whom he has no proof; then his reckoning is only with his Lord. Surely! Al-Kâfirûn (the disbelievers in Allâh and in the Oneness of Allâh, polytheists, pagans, idolaters) will not be successful. ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali If anyone invokes, besides Allah, Any other god, he has no authority therefor; and his reckoning will be only with his Lord! and verily the Unbelievers will fail to win through! ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran Whoever invokes, besides Allah, another god—for which they can have no proof—they will surely find their penalty with their Lord. Indeed, the disbelievers will never succeed. ### Taqi Usmani And whoever invokes another god with Allah, while he has no proof for it, his reckoning is only with his Lord. Surely, the infidels will not achieve success. ### Abdul Haleem Whoever prays to another god alongside Him- a god for whose existence he has no evidence- will face his reckoning with his Lord. Those who reject the truth will not prosper. ### Arthur John Arberry And whosoever calls upon another god with God, whereof he has no proof, his reckoning is with his Lord; surely the unbelievers shall not prosper. ### E. Şüphesiz kafirler kurtuluşa eremezler. ### Hasan Basri Çantay — Kur'an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim Kim Allah ile beraber diğer bir Tanrıya, bunu (isbat edecek) hiçbir delili olmamasına rağmen, taparsa onun hesabı (cezası) ancak Rabbi nezdindedir. Hakıykat şudur ki kafirler korkduklarından emin, umduklarına nail olamıyacaklardır. ### İbni Kesir Kim, başka bir tanrıya taparsa; onun hiç bir delili yoktur ve onun hesabı Rabbının katındadır. Gerçek şu ki, kafirler felah bulamazlar. ### Muhammed Esed — Kur'an Mesajı Öyleyse artık, kim ki, hakkında hiçbir delile sahip olmadığı halde Allah'la beraber başka bir tanrıya yakarırsa bunun hesabını Rabbinin katında mutlaka verecektir; (ve) şüphesiz, hakkı böylece inkar etmiş olanlar asla kurtuluşa, esenliğe erişemeyeceklerdir! ### Şaban Piriş — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Anlamı Kim Allah ile beraber, varlığına hiçbir belge bulunmayan başka bir ilaha dua ve kulluk ederse, onun hesabı ancak Rabbinin yanındadır.
