Surah Al-Mujadila (The Pleading Woman) — سورة المجادلة - **Verse:** 22 / 22 · **Juz:** 28 · **Mushaf page:** 544 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-mujadila/verse-22 ## Arabic لَا تَجِدُ قَوْماً يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّٰهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِ يُوَٓادُّونَ مَنْ حَٓادَّ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَلَوْ كَانُٓوا اٰبَٓاءَهُمْ اَوْ اَبْنَٓاءَهُمْ اَوْ اِخْوَانَهُمْ اَوْ عَش۪يرَتَهُمْۜ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ كَتَبَ ف۪ي قُلُوبِهِمُ الْا۪يمَانَ وَاَيَّدَهُمْ بِرُوحٍ مِنْهُۜ وَيُدْخِلُهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْر۪ي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهَارُ خَالِد۪ينَ ف۪يهَاۜ رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا عَنْهُۜ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ حِزْبُ اللّٰهِۜ اَلَٓا اِنَّ حِزْبَ اللّٰهِ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ ## Transcription La tajidu qawman yu/minoona billahiwalyawmi al-akhiri yuwaddoona man haddaAllaha warasoolahu walaw kanoo abaahumaw abnaahum aw ikhwanahum aw AAasheeratahum ola-ikakataba fee quloobihimu al-eemana waayyadahum biroohinminhu wayudkhiluhum jannatin tajree min tahtihaal-anharu khalideena feeha radiya AllahuAAanhum waradoo AAanhu ola-ika hizbu Allahiala inna hizba Allahi humu almuflihoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley You will not find people who have iman in Allah and the Last Day having love for anyone who opposes Allah and His Messenger, though they be their fathers, their sons, their brothers or their clan. Allah has inscribed iman upon such people’s hearts and will reinforce them with a Ruh from Him and admit them into Gardens with rivers flowing under them, remaining in them timelessly, for ever. Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him. Such people are the party of Allah. Truly it is the party of Allah who are successful. ### Progressive Muslims You will not find any people who believe in God and the Last Day befriending those who oppose God and His messenger, even if they were their parents, or their children, or their siblings, or their tribe. For these, He decrees faith into their hearts, and supports them with a spirit from Him, and He admits them into paradises with rivers flowing beneath, wherein they will abide. God is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him. These are the party of God. Most assuredly, the party of God are the winners. ### Shabbir Ahmed You will not find those who truly believe in Allah and the Last Day endear anyone who opposes Allah and His Messenger, even though they be their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their tribe. Allah has inscribed conviction on their hearts, and has strengthened them with Energy from Himself. Hence, He will admit them into Gardens underneath which rivers flow. Well pleased is Allah with them, and well pleased are they with Him. They are the party of Allah. Oh, verily, it is they, the party of Allah, who are truly successful. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation Thou wilt not find people who believe in God and the Last Day loving those who oppose God and His messenger, though they were their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their kindred. For these, He decrees faith into their hearts, and supports them with a Spirit from Him, and He admits them into estates with rivers flowing beneath them; abiding therein. God is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him. These are the party of God. Most assuredly, the party of God are the winners. ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament You will not find people who believe in GOD and the Last Day befriending those who oppose GOD and His messenger, even if they were their parents, or their children, or their siblings, or their tribe. For these, He decrees faith into their hearts, and supports them with inspiration from Him, and admits them into gardens with flowing streams wherein they abide forever. GOD is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him. These are the party of GOD. Most assuredly, GOD's party are the winners. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira You will not find those who believe in God and the Day of Resurrection, loving those who oppose God and His Prophet, even though they be their fathers, sons, or brothers or their kin. God has inscribed on their hearts belief, and has succoured them with His own grace, and will admit them to gardens with rivers flowing by, where they will abide for ever, God accepting them, and they, happy in the pleasure of God. They are verily the army of God. Will not the army of God be victorious? ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) You will not find a people who believe in Allah and the Last Day having affection for those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, even if they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their kindred. Those - He has decreed within their hearts faith and supported them with spirit from Him. And We will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him - those are the party of Allah. Unquestionably, the party of Allah - they are the successful. ### Muhammad Asad Thou canst not find people who [truly] believe in God and the Last Day and [at the same time] love anyone who contends against God and His Apostle - even though they be their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or [others of] their kindred. [As for the true believers,] it is they in whose hearts He has inscribed faith, and whom He has strength­ened with inspiration from Himself, and whom [in time] He will admit into gardens through which running waters flow, therein to abide. Well-pleased is God with them, and well-pleased are they with Him. They are God’s partisans: oh, verily, it is they, the partisans of God, who shall attain to a happy state! ### Marmaduke Pickthall Thou wilt not find folk who believe in Allah and the Last Day loving those who oppose Allah and His messenger, even though they be their fathers or their sons or their brethren or their clan. As for such, He hath written faith upon their hearts and hath strengthened them with a Spirit from Him, and He will bring them into Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide. Allah is well pleased with them, and they are well pleased with Him. They are Allah's party. Lo! is it not Allah's party who are the successful? ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary You shall not find a people who believe in Allah and the Last Day befriending those who oppose Allah and His Messenger even though they be their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their kindred.[1] He has inscribed faith in their hearts and has strengthened them with a spirit from Him, and He shall make them enter Gardens beneath which rivers flow. Therein they shall abide. Allah is well-pleased with them, and they are well-pleased with Him. They belong to Allah's party. Verily Allah's party shall prosper. _Footnotes_ - [1] Two things have been stated in this verse: first, a matter of principle, and the second, a statement of fact. The matter of principle is that faith in the true religion and love of the opponents of the religion are contradictory things, which cannot conceivably co-exist in one and the same place. It is absolutely impossible that love of the faith and love of the enemies of Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him) should co-exist in one and the same heart, just as a person’s love for himself and his love for his enemy cannot co-exist in his heart simultaneously This is as if to say: lf you see a person who professes the faith as well as keeps relations of love with the opponents of Islam, you should never be involved in the misunderstanding that he might perhaps be true in his profession in spite of his this attitude and conduct. Likewise, the people who have established relations with Islam and the opponents of Islam simultaneously, should themselves also consider their position well and see what they actually are. Are they believers or hypocrites? And what actually they want to be. Do they want to live as believers or as hypocrites? If they have any righteousness left in them and any feeling that from a moral viewpoint hypocrisy is the meanest and most abject attitude for man, they should give up their attempt to ride in two boats simultaneously. Faith wants them to be decisive. If they want to remain believers, they should sever and sacrifice all those connections that clash with their relationship with Islam. If they hold another relation dearer to themselves than the relationship with Islam, then they should better give up their false profession of Islam. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab You shall not find a people, true and solemn believers, with hearts impressed with the image of religious and spiritual virtues and deeds with wisdom and piety and minds conscious of the Last Day, who would have intimate friendship with those who challenge Allah and His Messenger, albeit they be their fathers or sons, their brothers or relatives. These are people whose hearts has Allah inscribed with the justification of Faith as a conviction operative on their character and will; He has given them moral support, courage and just confidence. He shall welcome them to His heaven's realm and admit them into gardens of surpassing beauty beneath which rivers flow, and in the beatitude of heaven they shall experience that vast forever. Allah has been pleased with them and they with Him. These are members of the Divine party; and who would heaven prosper better than the partisans of this party who are zealous supporters of the cause of Allah which is the heart of His purpose! ### Bijan Moeinian You will never find anyone who believes in God and the Day of Judgment befriending those who have opposed God and His Prophet, even if they were their parents, their sons, their brothers or their dearest ones. Such are the people in whose mind God has put faith and has supported them with Divine inspiration. God will admit them to the Gardens underneath which rivers flow and that they live there forever. God is well pleased with them and they are pleased with their Lord. They are God’s party. Know that the member of God’s party are the true successful ones. ### Al-Hilali & Khan You (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) will not find any people who believe in Allâh and the Last Day, making friendship with those who oppose Allâh and His Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), even though they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their kindred (people). For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with Rûh (proofs, light and true guidance) from Himself. And He will admit them to Gardens (Paradise) under which rivers flow to dwell therein (forever). Allâh is pleased with them, and they with Him. They are the Party of Allâh. Verily, it is the Party of Allâh that will be the successful. ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali Thou wilt not find any people who believe in Allah and the Last Day, loving those who resist Allah and His Messenger, even though they were their fathers or their sons, or their brothers, or their kindred. For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with a spirit from Himself. And He will admit them to Gardens beneath which Rivers flow, to dwell therein (for ever). Allah will be well pleased with them, and they with Him. They are the Party of Allah. Truly it is the Party of Allah that will achieve Felicity. ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran You will never find a people who ˹truly˺ believe in Allah and the Last Day loyal to those who defy Allah and His Messenger, even if they were their parents, children, siblings, or extended family. For those ˹believers˺, Allah has instilled faith in their hearts and strengthened them with a spirit from Him.[1] He will admit them into Gardens under which rivers flow, to stay there forever. Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him. They are the party of Allah. Indeed, Allah’s party is bound to succeed. ### Taqi Usmani You will not find those who believe in Allah and in the Hereafter having friendship with those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, even though they may be their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their clan. They are such that Allah has inscribed faith on their hearts, and has supported them with a spirit from Him. He will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, in which they will live forever. Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Allah. Those are the party of Allah. Be assured that it is (the members of) the party of Allah that are the successful. ### Abdul Haleem [Prophet], you will not find people who truly believe in God and the Last Day giving their loyalty to those who oppose God and His Messenger, even though they may be their fathers, sons, brothers, or other relations: these are the people in whose hearts God has inscribed faith, and whom He has strengthened with His spirit. He will let them enter Gardens graced with flowing streams, where they will stay: God is well pleased with them, and they with Him. They are on God’s side, and God’s side will be the one to prosper. ### Arthur John Arberry Thou shalt not find any people who believe in God and the Last Day who are loving to anyone who opposes. God and His Messenger, not though they were their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their clan. Those -- He has written faith upon their hearts, and He has confirmed them with a Spirit from Himself; and He shall admit them into gardens underneath which rivers flow, therein to dwell forever, God being well-pleased with them, and they well-pleased with Him. Those are God's party; why, surely God's party -- they are the prosperers. ### E. Truly, it is the Party of Allah who are the successful. ### Mahmoud Ghali You will not find any people who believe in Allah and the Last Day having affection for the ones who contravene Allah and His Messenger, even if they were their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their kinsmen. (As for) those, He has written belief in their hearts, and He has aided them with a Spirit from Himself; and He will cause them to enter Gardens from beneath which rivers run, eternally (abiding) therein. Allah is satisfied with them, and they are satisfied with Him. Those are the party of Allah; verily the party of Allah are surely they (who) are the prosperers. ### George Sale Thou shalt not find people who believe in God and the last day, to love him who opposeth God and his apostle; although they be their fathers, or their sons, or their brethren, or their nearest relations. In the hearts of these hath God written faith; and He hath strengthened them with his spirit: And He will lead them into gardens, beneath which rivers flow, to remain therein for ever. God is well pleased in them; and they are well pleased in Him. These are the party of God: And shall not the party of God prosper? ### Syed Vickar Ahamed You will not find any people who believe in Allah and the Last Day, loving those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, even though they were their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their kindred (by blood relationship). For such (people who believe) He (Allah) has written Faith in their hearts, and (He has) strengthened them with a spirit from Himself. And He will admit them to Gardens beneath which rivers flow, to live in there (for ever). Allah will be well pleased with them, and they (will be well pleased) with Him. They are the party of Allah. Truly, it is the party of Allah who will be successful (and the ultimate happiness). ### Amatul Rahman Omar You will find no such people who (truly) believe in Allâh and the Last Day, loving those who oppose Allâh and His Messenger, even though they (the opponents of Allâh) be their fathers, or their sons or their brethren or their kindred. It is they in whose hearts Allâh has inscribed (true) faith and has strengthened them with His own revelation. He will admit them to Gardens served with running streams. They shall abide there for ever. Allâh is well pleased with them and they are well pleased with Him. They are Allâh's party. Behold! it is Allâh's party alone that are the winners of the goal. ### Ali Quli Qarai You will not find a people believing in Allah and the Last Day endearing those who oppose Allah and His Apostle even though they were their own parents, or children, or brothers, or kinsfolk. [For] such, He has written faith into their hearts and strengthened them with a spirit from Him. He will admit them into gardens with streams running in them, to remain in them [forever], Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him. They are Allah’s confederates. Look! The confederates of Allah are indeed felicitous! ### Ahmed Hulusi — Türkçe Kur'an Çözümü Esma'sıyla hakikatleri olan Allah'a ve sonsuz yaşam sürecine iman eden bir topluluğu, Allah ve Rasulü ile zıtlaşanlarla sevişir bulamazsın! Bunlar, onların babaları, yahut oğulları, yahut kardeşleri veya aşiretleri olsalar bile! İşte bunlar kalplerinin içine imanı yazdığı (şuurlarında imanı yaşattığı) ve tarafından ruhu olarak teyit ettikleridir! Dikkat edin; şüphesiz Allah'ın fırkası olanlar, felah (umutlarını gerçekleştirip kurtuluş) bulanların ta kendileridir. ### Bayraktar Bayraklı — Yeni Bir Anlayışın Işığında Kur'an Meali Allah'a ve ahiret gününe inanan bir toplumun, onlar kendilerinin babaları veya oğulları veya kardeşleri ya da akrabaları olsa da, Allah'a ve Peygamberine karşı gelenlere sevgi beslediklerini göremezsin. İşte onlar, kalplerine imanı yazdığı, katından bir ruh ile desteklediği kimselerdir. Onları içinden ırmaklar akan cennetlere koyacak, orada süreli olarak kalacaklardır. İyi biliniz ki, Allah'ın tarafında olanlar kurtuluşa erenlerdir. ### Diyanet İşleri — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Meali Allah'a ve ahiret gününe iman eden hiçbir topluluğun, babaları, oğulları, kardeşleri yahut kendi soy sopları olsalar bile, Allah'a ve peygamberine düşman olan kimselere sevgi beslediğini göremezsin. İşte Allah onların kalplerine imanı yazmış ve onları kendi katından bir ruh ile desteklemiştir. Onları, içlerinden ırmaklar akan ve içlerinde ebedi kalacakları cennetlere sokacaktır. İyi bilin ki, Allah'ın tarafında olanlar kurtuluşa erenlerin ta kendileridir. ### Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır — Kur'an-ı Kerim ve Yüce Meali Allaha ve Ahıret gününe iyman eder hiç bir kavmı Allah ve Resulüne hudud yarışına kalkışan kimselerle sevişir bulamazsın, babaları veya oğulları veya kardeşleri veya hısımları, hemşerileri olsalar bile, işte Allah öyle kimseleri sevmeyen bir kavmın kalblerine iymanı yazmış ve kendilerini tarafından bir ruh ile te'yid buyurmuştur ve onları altından ırmaklar akar Cennetlere koyacak, içlerinde ebediyyen kalacaklardır, öyle ki Allah onlardan hoşnud, onlar Allahdan hoşnud, işte onlar Allah hizbidir, uyanık ol ki Allahın hizbi muhakkak hep felaha irenlerdir ### Elmalılı (sadeleştirilmiş) Allah'a ve ahiret gününe iman eden hiçbir topluluğun Allah'a ve peygamberine karşı kanunlar koymaya kalkışan kimselerle sevişir bulamazsın; babaları veya oğulları, kardeşleri veya akrabaları olsalar bile. İşte Allah'ı öyle kimseleri sevmeyen bir topluluğun kalplerine imanı yazmış ve kendilerini tarafından bir ruh ile desteklemiştir. Onları içlerinde sonsuza dek kalmak üzere altından ırmaklar akan cennetlere koyacaktır. Allah onlardan hoşnut olmuş, onlar da O'ndan hoşnut olmuşlardır. İşte onlar, Allah'ın taraftarıdırlar. Uyanık ol ki, Allah'ın taraftarları hep kurtuluşa erenlerdir. ### Gültekin Onan Tanrı'ya ve ahiret gününe inanan hiçbir kavim bulamazsın ki, Tanrı'ya ve elçisine başkaldıran kimselerle bir sevgi (ve dostluk) bağı kurmuş olsunlar; bunlar, ister babaları, ister çocukları, ister kardeşleri, isterse kendi aşiretleri (soyları) olsun. Onlar, öyle kimselerdir ki, (Tanrı) kalplerine inancı yazmış ve onları kendinden bir ruh ile desteklemiştir. Onları, altlarından ırmaklar akan cennetlere sokacaktır; orada süresiz olarak kalacaklardır. Tanrı, onlardan razı olmuş, onlar da O'ndan razı olmuşlardır. İşte onlar Tanrı'nın fırkasıdır. Dikkat edin; şüphesiz Tanrı'nın fırkası olanlar, felah (umutlarını gerçekleştirip kurtuluş) bulanların ta kendileridir. ### Hasan Basri Çantay — Kur'an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim Allaha ve ahiret gününe imanda sebat eden hiçbir kavmin Allaha ve resulüne muhaalefet eden kimselerle — velev ki onlar, bunların babaları, ya oğulları, ya biraderleri, yahud soysopları olsunlar — dostlaşacaklarını görmezsin. Onlar, o kimselerdir ki (Allah) imanı kalblerine yazmış, bunları kendinden bir ruuh ile desteklemişdir. Bunları altlarından ırmaklar akan cennetlere sokacakdır. Bunlar orada ebedi kalıcıdırlar. Allah onlardan raazi olmuşdur. Onlar da Allahdan hoşnud olmuşlardır, işte onlar Allah fırkasıdır. Gözünüzü açın ki Allah fırkası (mensubları) umduklarına erenlerin ta kendileridir. ### İbni Kesir Allah'a ve ahiret gününe iman eden bir kavmin; kendi babaları, oğulları, kardeşleri veya akrabaları da olsa Allah ve Peygamberine muhalefet eden kimselere sevgi beslediğini göremezsin. İşte onların kalbine Allah, iman yazmış ve katından bir ruh ile onları desteklemiştir. Onları altlarından ırmaklar akan cennetlere sokacaktır. Bunlar orada ebediyyen kalacaklardır. Allah; onlardan razı olmuştur, onlar da Allah'tan hoşnud olmuşlardır. İşte onlar; Allah'ın hizbidir. Dikkat edin; Allah'ın hizbi, felaha erenlerin kendileridir. ### Muhammed Esed — Kur'an Mesajı Allah'a ve Ahiret Günü'ne (gerçekten) inanan, ama (aynı zamanda) -babaları, oğulları, kardeşleri yahut (öteki) akrabaları bile olsa- Allah'a ve Elçisi'ne karşı çıkanları seven bir toplum göremezsin. (Gerçek müminlere gelince,) Allah'ın kalplerine imanı nakşettiği ve ilhamı ile güçlendirdiği kimseler onlardır ve (zamanı gelince) onları içlerinden ırmaklar akan bahçelerde barındıracaktır. Allah onlardan hoşnuttur ve onlar da Allah'tan. İşte onlar Allah'tan yana olanlardır. İşte onlar, Allah'tan yana olanlar, mutluluğa ulaşacaklardır! ### Şaban Piriş — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Anlamı Allah'a ve ahiret gününe iman eden bir toplumun; babaları, oğulları, kardeşleri veya yakınları dahi olsa, Allah'a ve Elçisi'ne muhalefet eden kimseler için bir sevgi beslediklerini göremezsin. İşte onlar, Allah'ın kalplerine inancı kaydettiği ve kendinden bir vahiy ile güçlendirdiği kimselerdir. Allah, onları alt tarafından ırmaklar akan ve içinde ebedi kalacakları cennetlere girdirecektir. İşte onlar Allah'ın askerleridir. Allah, onlardan razı olmuş, onlar da ondan razı olmuştur. İyi bilin ki, kurtuluşa erecek olanlar Allah'ın askerleri/taraftarlarıdır. ### Süleyman Ateş — Kur'an-ı Kerim ve Yüce Meali Allah'a ve ahiret gününe inanan bir milletin babaları, oğulları, kardeşleri, yahut akrabaları da olsa Allah'a ve Elçisine düşman olanlarla dostluk ettiğini görmezsin.
