Surah Al-Ma'idah (The Feast) — سورة المائدة - **Verse:** 20 / 120 · **Juz:** 6 · **Mushaf page:** 110 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-maidah/verse-20 ## Arabic وَاِذْ قَالَ مُوسٰى لِقَوْمِه۪ يَا قَوْمِ اذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْكُمْ اِذْ جَعَلَ ف۪يكُمْ اَنْبِيَٓاءَ وَجَعَلَكُمْ مُلُوكاًۗ وَاٰتٰيكُمْ مَا لَمْ يُؤْتِ اَحَداً مِنَ الْعَالَم۪ينَ ## Transcription Wa-ith qala moosaliqawmihi ya qawmi othkuroo niAAmata AllahiAAalaykum ith jaAAala feekum anbiyaa wajaAAalakummulookan waatakum ma lam yu/ti ahadanmina alAAalameen ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Remember when Musa said to his people, ‘My people! remember Allah’s blessing to you when He appointed Prophets among you and appointed kings for you, and gave you what He had not given to anyone else in all the worlds! ### Progressive Muslims And Moses said to his people: "My people, remember God's favour upon you that he made amongst you prophets, and made you kings, and he gave you what He had not given any from the worlds. There had appeared among them such great Prophets as Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph. Moreover, from the time of Joseph they were able to achieve very considerable power and authority in Egypt. For a considerable period they were the greatest rulers of the civilized world, reigning supreme in Egypt and the surrounding territories. People are generally inclined to regard the time of Moses as the starting point for the rise of the Israelites. The Qur'an, however, states categorically that the truly glorious period of their history had passed long before Moses, and that Moses himself drew the attention of his people to that period as their time of glory. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab And for once Mussa (Moses) said to his people: "My people render solemn acknowledgement of Allah’s divine favour upon you; how He raised in your midst Prophets and conferred on you sovereignty and made all grace abound in you and graced you with favours and privileges and such prerogatives He never bestowed on other people*. ### Bijan Moeinian Recite [the true story of Moses] when Moses said to his people: "O my people, remember how Graceful God has been to you.
