Surah Al-Kahf (The Cave) — سورة الكهف - **Verse:** 8 / 110 · **Juz:** 15 · **Mushaf page:** 293 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-kahf/verse-8 ## Arabic وَاِنَّا لَجَاعِلُونَ مَا عَلَيْهَا صَع۪يداً جُرُزاًۜ ## Transcription Wa-inna lajaAAiloona maAAalayha saAAeedan juruza ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley We will certainly make everything on it a barren wasteland. ### Progressive Muslims And We will then make what is on it a barren wasteland. ### Shabbir Ahmed And, verily, We shall reduce all that is on earth to barren dust! ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation And We will make what is thereon barren ground. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation And We will surely make what is on it completely barren. ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament Inevitably, we will wipe out everything on it, leaving it completely barren., ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira For We shall certainly turn it to barren dust. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) And indeed, We will make that which is upon it [into] a barren ground. ### Muhammad Asad and, verily, [in time] We shall reduce all that is on it to barren dust! ### Marmaduke Pickthall And lo! We shall make all that is thereon a barren mound. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary In the ultimate, We shall reduce all that is on the earth to a barren plain.[1] _Footnotes_ - [1] (Ayat 6 )was addressed to the Prophet (peace be upon him), but ( Ayats 7-8 )have been directed to the disbelievers indirectly, as if to say: You must understand it clearly that all the things that you see in the world and which allure you, are a transitory adornment which has been arranged merely to test you, but it is a pity that you have been involved in the misunderstanding that all these things have been created to cater for your pleasure and enjoyment. That is why the only aim and object of life you have set before you is: Eat, drink and be merry. As a result of this you do not pay any attention to your true and real well wisher. You must understand it well that these things have not been provided for pleasure but are actually a means of testing you. You have been placed among them to see which of you is allured by these from the real aim of life and which of you keeps steadfast in the worship of Allah, for which you have been sent to the world. All these things and means of pleasure shall come to an end on the Day, your examination is over and nothing will remain on the earth because it will be turned into a bare plain. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab One day We will render the face of the earth dry and barren - terra firma- destitute of vegetation. ### Bijan Moeinian One day, I will turn this glittering world (that the materialistic people are in love with so much) into a lifeless desert like planet. ### Al-Hilali & Khan And verily We shall make all that is on it (the earth) a bare dry soil (without any vegetation or trees.). ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali Verily what is on earth we shall make but as dust and dry soil (without growth or herbage). ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran And We will certainly reduce whatever is on it to barren ground. ### Taqi Usmani And surely, We are going to turn whatever is thereon into a barren land. ### Abdul Haleem but We shall reduce all this to barren dust. ### Arthur John Arberry and We shall surely make all that is on it barren dust. ### E.
