Surah Al-Jumu'ah (Gathering day) — سورة الجمعة - **Verse:** 7 / 11 · **Juz:** 28 · **Mushaf page:** 552 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-jumuah/verse-7 ## Arabic وَلَا يَتَمَنَّوْنَهُٓ اَبَداً بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ اَيْد۪يهِمْۜ وَاللّٰهُ عَل۪يمٌ بِالظَّالِم۪ينَ ## Transcription Wala yatamannawnahu abadan bimaqaddamat aydeehim wallahu AAaleemun biththalimeen ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley But they will never ever wish for it because of what they have done. Allah knows the wrongdoers. ### Progressive Muslims But they will never long for it, because of what their hands have brought forth. God is fully aware of the wicked. ### Shabbir Ahmed But never will they long for it because of the deeds their hands have sent ahead. And Allah is fully Aware of those who relegate the Truth. (2:94-96). ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation But never will they wish for it, because of what their hands have sent ahead. And Allah is Knowing of the wrongdoers. ### Muhammad Asad But never will they long for it, because [they are aware] of what their hands have wrought in this world; and God has full knowledge of evildoers. ### Marmaduke Pickthall But they will never long for it because of all that their own hands have sent before, and Allah is Aware of evil-doers. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary But they shall never wish for death because of the (evil) deeds they have committed.[1] Allah is well aware of these evil-doers. _Footnotes_ - [1] In other words, their flight from death is not without a reason. Whatever they may say, their conscience is fully aware of how they are behaving towards Allah and His religion and what consequences can be expected of the misdeeds they are committing in the world. That is why they are afraid to appear at the court of God. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab But never will they make a supplication for the fulfillment of this desire Owing to what had rested of wrong-doing earlier upon their unclean hands, And Allah is well acquainted with those who are given to wickedness. ### Bijan Moeinian They are too in love with this world and aware of their wrong doings to wish for death; God is fully aware of the nature of the wicked ones. ### Al-Hilali & Khan But they will never long for it (death), because of what (deeds) their hands have sent before them! And Allâh knows well the Zâlimûn (polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers). ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali But never will they express their desire (for Death), because of the (deeds) their hands have sent on before them! and Allah knows well those that do wrong! ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran But they will never wish for that because of what their hands have done.[1] And Allah has ˹perfect˺ knowledge of the wrongdoers. ### Taqi Usmani And they will never express this desire, because of what their hands have sent ahead.
