_In the name of God, the Almighty, the Merciful._

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ

## Verse 1

حٰمٓۜ

Ha-meem

ḥā mīm

## Verse 2

تَنْز۪يلُ الْـكِتَابِ مِنَ اللّٰهِ الْعَز۪يزِ الْحَك۪يمِ

Tanzeelu alkitabi mina AllahialAAazeezi alhakeem

The revelation of the Writ is from God, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

## Verse 3

اِنَّ فِي السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضِ لَاٰيَاتٍ لِلْمُؤْمِن۪ينَۜ

Inna fee assamawati wal-ardilaayatin lilmu/mineen

In the heavens and the earth are proofs for the believers;

## Verse 4

وَف۪ي خَلْقِكُمْ وَمَا يَبُثُّ مِنْ دَٓابَّةٍ اٰيَاتٌ لِقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَۙ

Wafee khalqikum wama yabuththu min dabbatinayatun liqawmin yooqinoon

And in your creation and the creatures He scatters in the earth are proofs for people who are certain;

## Verse 5

وَاخْتِلَافِ الَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَمَٓا اَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ مِنَ السَّمَٓاءِ مِنْ رِزْقٍ فَاَحْيَا بِهِ الْاَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا وَتَصْر۪يفِ الرِّيَاحِ اٰيَاتٌ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ

Wakhtilafi allayli wannahariwama anzala Allahu mina assama-i minrizqin faahya bihi al-arda baAAda mawtihawatasreefi arriyahi ayatunliqawmin yaAAqiloon

And in the alternation of night and day, and in what God sends down from the sky of provision and gives life thereby to the earth after its death, and in the circulation of the winds are proofs for people who reason.

## Verse 6

تِلْكَ اٰيَاتُ اللّٰهِ نَتْلُوهَا عَلَيْكَ بِالْحَقِّۚ فَبِاَيِّ حَد۪يثٍ بَعْدَ اللّٰهِ وَاٰيَاتِه۪ يُؤْمِنُونَ

Tilka ayatu Allahinatlooha AAalayka bilhaqqi fabi-ayyi hadeethinbaAAda Allahi waayatihi yu/minoon

Those are the proofs of God; We recite them to thee in truth. Then in what narration after God and His proofs will they believe?

## Verse 7

وَيْلٌ لِكُلِّ اَفَّاكٍ اَث۪يمٍۙ

Waylun likulli affakin atheem

Woe to every sinful deceiver,

## Verse 8

يَسْمَعُ اٰيَاتِ اللّٰهِ تُتْلٰى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ يُصِرُّ مُسْتَكْبِراً كَاَنْ لَمْ يَسْمَعْهَاۚ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِعَذَابٍ اَل۪يمٍ

YasmaAAu ayati Allahitutla AAalayhi thumma yusirru mustakbiran kaan lamyasmaAAha fabashshirhu biAAathabin aleem

Who hears the proofs of God recited to him then persists in waxing proud as if he heard them not! Then give thou him tidings of a painful punishment.

## Verse 9

وَاِذَا عَلِمَ مِنْ اٰيَاتِنَا شَيْـٔاًۨ اتَّخَذَهَا هُزُواًۜ  اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُه۪ينٌۜ

Wa-itha AAalima min ayatinashay-an ittakhathaha huzuwan ola-ika lahumAAathabun muheen

And when he knows anything of Our proofs, he takes them in mockery; those have a humiliating punishment.

## Verse 10

مِنْ وَرَٓائِهِمْ جَهَنَّمُۚ وَلَا يُغْن۪ي عَنْهُمْ مَا كَسَبُوا شَيْـٔاً وَلَا مَا اتَّخَذُوا مِنْ دُونِ اللّٰهِ اَوْلِيَٓاءَۚ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظ۪يمٌۜ

Min wara-ihim jahannamu walayughnee AAanhum ma kasaboo shay-an wala maittakhathoo min dooni Allahi awliyaa walahumAAathabun AAatheem

Behind them is Gehenna; and that which they have earned will avail them nothing, nor what they took as allies besides God; and they have a great punishment.

## Verse 11

هٰذَا هُدًىۚ وَالَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا بِاٰيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مِنْ رِجْزٍ اَل۪يمٌ۟

Hatha hudan wallatheenakafaroo bi-ayati rabbihim lahum AAathabunmin rijzin aleem

This is guidance. And those who deny the proofs of their Lord: they have a punishment of a painful scourge.

## Verse 12

اَللّٰهُ الَّذ۪ي سَخَّرَ لَكُمُ الْبَحْرَ لِتَجْرِيَ الْفُلْكُ ف۪يهِ بِاَمْرِه۪ وَلِتَبْتَغُوا مِنْ فَضْلِه۪ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَۚ

Allahu allathee sakhkharalakumu albahra litajriya alfulku feehi bi-amrihiwalitabtaghoo min fadlihi walaAAallakum tashkuroon

God it is who made subject for you the sea, that the ships might run therein by His command, and that you might seek of His bounty; and that you might be grateful.

## Verse 13

وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمْ مَا فِي السَّمٰوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْاَرْضِ جَم۪يعاً مِنْهُۜ اِنَّ ف۪ي ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

Wasakhkhara lakum ma fee assamawatiwama fee al-ardi jameeAAan minhu inna fee thalikalaayatin liqawmin yatafakkaroon

And He made subject for you what is in the heavens and what is in the earth — altogether from Him. In that are proofs for people who reflect.

## Verse 14

قُلْ لِلَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا يَغْفِرُوا لِلَّذ۪ينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ اَيَّامَ اللّٰهِ لِيَجْزِيَ قَوْماً بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ

Qul lillatheena amanooyaghfiroo lillatheena la yarjoona ayyama Allahiliyajziya qawman bima kanoo yaksiboon

Say thou to those who heed warning, that they forgive those who look not for the days of God, that He might reward people for what they earned.

## Verse 15

مَنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحاً فَلِنَفْسِه۪ۚ وَمَنْ اَسَٓاءَ فَعَلَيْهَاۘ ثُمَّ اِلٰى رَبِّكُمْ تُرْجَعُونَ

Man AAamila salihanfalinafsihi waman asaa faAAalayha thumma ilarabbikum turjaAAoon

Whoso works righteousness, it is for his soul; and whoso does evil, it is against it; then to your Lord will you be returned.

## Verse 16

وَلَقَدْ اٰتَيْنَا بَن۪ٓي اِسْرَٓائ۪ـلَ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحُكْمَ وَالنُّبُوَّةَ وَرَزَقْنَاهُمْ مِنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَفَضَّلْنَاهُمْ عَلَى الْعَالَم۪ينَۚ

Walaqad atayna banee isra-eelaalkitaba walhukma wannubuwwatawarazaqnahum mina attayyibati wafaddalnahumAAala alAAalameen

And We gave the children of Israel the Writ, and judgment, and prophethood, and provided them with good things, and favoured them above all mankind,

## Verse 17

وَاٰتَيْنَاهُمْ بَيِّنَاتٍ مِنَ الْاَمْرِۚ فَمَا اخْتَلَفُٓوا اِلَّا مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جَٓاءَهُمُ الْعِلْمُۙ بَغْياً بَيْنَهُمْۜ اِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقْض۪ي بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ ف۪يمَا كَانُوا ف۪يهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ

Waataynahum bayyinatinmina al-amri fama ikhtalafoo illa min baAAdi majaahumu alAAilmu baghyan baynahum inna rabbaka yaqdeebaynahum yawma alqiyamati feema kanoo feehiyakhtalifoon

And We gave them clear signs of the command; and they differed only after knowledge had come to them, through sectarian zealotry between them. Thy Lord will decide between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that wherein they differed.

## Verse 18

ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَاكَ عَلٰى شَر۪يعَةٍ مِنَ الْاَمْرِ فَاتَّبِعْهَا وَلَا تَتَّبِـعْ اَهْوَٓاءَ الَّذ۪ينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

Thumma jaAAalnaka AAalashareeAAatin mina al-amri fattabiAAha walatattabiAA ahwaa allatheena la yaAAlamoon

Then set We thee upon a way of the command; follow thou it, and follow thou not the vain desires of those who know not;

## Verse 19

اِنَّهُمْ لَنْ يُغْنُوا عَنْكَ مِنَ اللّٰهِ شَيْـٔاًۜ وَاِنَّ الظَّالِم۪ينَ بَعْضُهُمْ اَوْلِيَٓاءُ بَعْضٍۚ وَاللّٰهُ وَلِيُّ الْمُتَّق۪ينَ

Innahum lan yughnoo AAanka mina Allahishay-an wa-inna aththalimeena baAAduhumawliyao baAAdin wallahu waliyyualmuttaqeen

They will avail thee nothing against God. And the wrongdoers are allies of one another; and God is the ally of those of prudent fear.

## Verse 20

هٰذَا بَصَٓائِرُ لِلنَّاسِ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ

Hatha basa-iru linnasiwahudan warahmatun liqawmin yooqinoon

This is a means of insight for mankind, and guidance, and a mercy for people who are certain.

## Verse 21

اَمْ حَسِبَ الَّذ۪ينَ اجْتَرَحُوا السَّيِّـَٔاتِ اَنْ نَجْعَلَهُمْ كَالَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِۙ سَوَٓاءً مَحْيَاهُمْ وَمَمَاتُهُمْۜ سَٓاءَ مَا يَحْكُمُونَ۟

Am hasiba allatheena ijtarahooassayyi-ati an najAAalahum kallatheenaamanoo waAAamiloo assalihati sawaanmahyahum wamamatuhum saa ma yahkumoon

If those who commit evil deeds think that We will make them like those who heed warning and do righteous deeds: — the same in their living and their dying — evil is what they judge.

## Verse 22

وَخَلَقَ اللّٰهُ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضَ بِالْحَقِّ وَلِتُجْزٰى كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ

Wakhalaqa Allahu assamawatiwal-arda bilhaqqi walitujzakullu nafsin bima kasabat wahum la yuthlamoon

And God created the heavens and the earth in truth, and that every soul might be rewarded for what it earned; and they will not be wronged.

## Verse 23

اَفَرَاَيْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ اِلٰهَهُ هَوٰيهُ وَاَضَلَّهُ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى عِلْمٍ وَخَتَمَ عَلٰى سَمْعِه۪ وَقَلْبِه۪ وَجَعَلَ عَلٰى بَصَرِه۪ غِشَاوَةًۜ  فَمَنْ يَهْد۪يهِ مِنْ بَعْدِ اللّٰهِۜ  اَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ

Afaraayta mani ittakhatha ilahahuhawahu waadallahu Allahu AAalaAAilmin wakhatama AAala samAAihi waqalbihi wajaAAala AAalabasarihi ghishawatan faman yahdeehi min baAAdi Allahiafala tathakkaroon

Hast thou then considered him who takes as his god his vain desire, and God sent him astray according to knowledge and sealed his hearing and his heart and set over his sight a covering? Then who will guide him after God? Will you then not take heed!

## Verse 24

وَقَالُوا مَا هِيَ اِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا الدُّنْيَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحْيَا وَمَا يُهْلِكُنَٓا اِلَّا الدَّهْرُۚ وَمَا لَهُمْ بِذٰلِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍۚ  اِنْ هُمْ اِلَّا يَظُنُّونَ

Waqaloo ma hiya illa hayatunaaddunya namootu wanahya wamayuhlikuna illa addahru wama lahum bithalikamin AAilmin in hum illa yathunnoon

And they say: “There is only our life of this world: we die, and we live, and there destroys us only time.” But they have no knowledge of that; they are only guessing.

## Verse 25

وَاِذَا تُتْلٰى عَلَيْهِمْ اٰيَاتُنَا بَيِّنَاتٍ مَا كَانَ حُجَّتَهُمْ اِلَّٓا اَنْ قَالُوا ائْتُوا بِاٰبَٓائِنَٓا اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِق۪ينَ

Wa-itha tutla AAalayhim ayatunabayyinatin ma kana hujjatahum illaan qaloo i/too bi-aba-ina in kuntum sadiqeen

And when Our proofs are recited to them as clear signs, their argument is only that they say: “Bring us our fathers, if you be truthful.”

## Verse 26

قُلِ اللّٰهُ يُحْي۪يكُمْ ثُمَّ يُم۪يتُكُمْ ثُمَّ يَجْمَعُكُمْ اِلٰى يَوْمِ الْقِيٰمَةِ لَا رَيْبَ ف۪يهِ وَلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ۟

Quli Allahu yuhyeekum thummayumeetukum thumma yajmaAAukum ila yawmi alqiyamatila rayba feehi walakinna akthara annasila yaAAlamoon

Say thou: “God gives you life; then He gives you death; then will He gather you to the Day of Resurrection whereof there is no doubt; but most men know not.”

## Verse 27

وَلِلّٰهِ مُلْكُ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضِۜ وَيَوْمَ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَخْسَرُ الْمُبْطِلُونَ

Walillahi mulku assamawatiwal-ardi wayawma taqoomu assaAAatuyawma-ithin yakhsaru almubtiloon

And to God belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And the day the Hour strikes, that day the creators of vanity will lose.

## Verse 28

وَتَرٰى كُلَّ اُمَّةٍ جَاثِيَةً۠   كُلُّ اُمَّةٍ تُدْعٰٓى اِلٰى كِتَابِهَاۜ اَلْيَوْمَ تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

Watara kulla ommatin jathiyatankullu ommatin tudAAa ila kitabihaalyawma tujzawna ma kuntum taAAmaloon

And thou wilt see every community on its knees, every community called to its writ: “This day will you be rewarded for what you did!

## Verse 29

هٰذَا كِتَابُنَا يَنْطِقُ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْحَقِّۜ اِنَّا كُنَّا نَسْتَنْسِخُ مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

Hatha kitabuna yantiquAAalaykum bilhaqqi inna kunnanastansikhu ma kuntum taAAmaloon

“This, Our writ, speaks against you the truth; We have caused to be recorded what you did.”

## Verse 30

فَاَمَّا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فَيُدْخِلُهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ ف۪ي رَحْمَتِه۪ۜ  ذٰلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْمُب۪ينُ

Faamma allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati fayudkhiluhumrabbuhum fee rahmatihi thalika huwa alfawzualmubeen

Then as for those who heed warning and do righteous deeds: their Lord will make them enter into His mercy; that is the clear achievement.

## Verse 31

وَاَمَّا الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا۠  اَفَلَمْ تَكُنْ اٰيَات۪ي تُتْلٰى عَلَيْكُمْ فَاسْتَكْـبَرْتُمْ وَكُنْتُمْ قَوْماً مُجْرِم۪ينَ

Waamma allatheena kafarooafalam takun ayatee tutla AAalaykum fastakbartumwakuntum qawman mujrimeen

And as for those who ignore warning: “Were not Our proofs recited to you? But you had waxed proud and were a people of lawbreakers.

## Verse 32

وَاِذَا ق۪يلَ اِنَّ وَعْدَ اللّٰهِ حَقٌّ وَالسَّاعَةُ لَا رَيْبَ ف۪يهَا قُلْتُمْ مَا نَدْر۪ي مَا السَّاعَةُۙ اِنْ نَظُنُّ اِلَّا ظَناًّ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُسْتَيْقِن۪ينَ

Wa-itha qeela inna waAAda Allahihaqqun wassaAAatu la rayba feehaqultum ma nadree ma assaAAatu in nathunnuilla thannan wama nahnubimustayqineen

“And when it was said: ‘The promise of God is true, as is the Hour about which there is no doubt,’ you said: ‘We know not what the Hour is; we think only assumption, and We are not convinced.’”

## Verse 33

وَبَدَا لَهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتُ مَا عَمِلُوا وَحَاقَ بِهِمْ مَا كَانُوا بِه۪ يَسْتَهْزِؤُ۫نَ

Wabada lahum sayyi-atu maAAamiloo wahaqa bihim ma kanoo bihiyastahzi-oon

And the evil deeds they did will appear to them, and there will surround them that whereat they mocked.

## Verse 34

وَق۪يلَ الْيَوْمَ نَنْسٰيكُمْ كَمَا نَس۪يتُمْ لِقَٓاءَ يَوْمِكُمْ هٰذَا وَمَأْوٰيكُمُ النَّارُ وَمَا لَكُمْ مِنْ نَاصِر۪ينَ

Waqeela alyawma nansakum kamanaseetum liqaa yawmikum hatha wama/wakumu annaruwama lakum min nasireen

And it will be said: “This day do We forget you, as you forgot the meeting of this day of yours. And your shelter is the Fire, and you have no helpers.

## Verse 35

ذٰلِكُمْ بِاَنَّكُمُ اتَّخَذْتُمْ اٰيَاتِ اللّٰهِ هُزُواً وَغَرَّتْكُمُ الْحَيٰوةُ الدُّنْيَاۚ فَالْيَوْمَ لَا يُخْرَجُونَ مِنْهَا وَلَا هُمْ يُسْتَعْتَبُونَ

Thalikum bi-annakumu ittakhathtumayati Allahi huzuwan wagharratkumu alhayatuaddunya falyawma la yukhrajoonaminha wala hum yustaAAtaboon

“That is because you took the proofs of God in mockery, and the life of this world deluded you.” So, that day, they will not be brought forth therefrom, nor will they be allowed to make amends.

## Verse 36

فَلِلّٰهِ الْحَمْدُ رَبِّ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَرَبِّ الْاَرْضِ رَبِّ الْعَالَم۪ينَ

Falillahi alhamdu rabbi assamawatiwarabbi al-ardi rabbi alAAalameen

And to God belongs the praise — “The Lord of the Heavens! And the Lord of the Earth! The Lord of All Creation!” —

## Verse 37

وَلَهُ الْكِبْرِيَٓاءُ فِي السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضِۖ وَهُوَ الْعَز۪يزُ الْحَك۪يمُ

Walahu alkibriyao fee assamawatiwal-ardi wahuwa alAAazeezu alhakeem

And to Him belongs the majesty in the heavens and the earth; and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
