Surah Al-Isra (The Night Journey) — سورة الإسراء - **Verse:** 8 / 111 · **Juz:** 15 · **Mushaf page:** 282 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-isra/verse-8 ## Arabic عَسٰى رَبُّكُمْ اَنْ يَرْحَمَكُمْۚ وَاِنْ عُدْتُمْ عُدْنَاۢ وَجَعَلْنَا جَهَنَّمَ لِلْكَافِر۪ينَ حَص۪يراً ## Transcription AAasa rabbukum an yarhamakumwa-in AAudtum AAudna wajaAAalna jahannama lilkafireenahaseera ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley It may well be that your Lord will have mercy on you. But if you revert to what you did, We also will revert. We have made Hell a prison for the kafirun.’ ### Progressive Muslims Perhaps your Lord will have mercy on you, and if you revert then so will We. And We made Hell a gathering place for the rejecters. ### Shabbir Ahmed Now is the time that your Lord may Bless you with His Mercy (as the Final Messenger is in your midst (7:157)). We have made Hell a prison for those who are thankless[1] of Allah's bounties. _Footnotes_ - [1] Though this admonition has been given as a parenthesis at the end of the address to the children of Israel, it does not mean that this and the address itself are solely meant for them. As a matter of fact, the whole address is really directed towards the disbelievers of Makkah but, instead of addressing them directly, some important historical events from the history of the children of Israel have been cited in order to serve as admonition for them. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab May Allah, your Creator have mercy on you; but should you resume your iniquities, We will in turn resume Our retributive punishment.
