Surah Al-Isra (The Night Journey) — سورة الإسراء - **Verse:** 66 / 111 · **Juz:** 15 · **Mushaf page:** 287 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-isra/verse-66 ## Arabic رَبُّكُمُ الَّذ۪ي يُزْج۪ي لَكُمُ الْفُلْكَ فِي الْبَحْرِ لِتَبْتَغُوا مِنْ فَضْلِه۪ۜ اِنَّهُ كَانَ بِكُمْ رَح۪يماً ## Transcription Rabbukumu allathee yuzjee lakumualfulka fee albahri litabtaghoo min fadlihi innahukana bikum raheema ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Your Lord is He who propels the ships on the sea for you so that you may seek His bounty. He is indeed Most Merciful to you. ### Progressive Muslims Your Lord in the One Who drives the ships for you in the sea so that you may seek of His bounty. He is Most Merciful towards you. ### Shabbir Ahmed (O Mankind, be mindful of your Lord to ward of your selfish desire). Your Sustainer is He Who causes the ships to move onward for you through the sea that you may seek of His bounty. Indeed, He is ever, to you, Merciful. ### Muhammad Asad YOUR SUSTAINER is He who causes ships to move onward for you through the sea, so that you might go about in quest of some of His bounty: verily, a dispenser of grace is He unto you. ### Marmaduke Pickthall (O mankind), your Lord is He Who driveth for you the ship upon the sea that ye may seek of His bounty. Lo! He was ever Merciful toward you. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Your Lord is He Who steers your vessels across the seas[1] that you may seek of His Bounty.[2] He is ever Merciful towards you. _Footnotes_ - [1] This passage (Ayats 66-72) is closely connected with the previous one. It tells man that if he wants to protect himself from the allurements, temptations and false promises of Satan who has been his avowed enemy from the day of his creation, he should recognize his real Lord and be steadfast in His obedience. Satan intends to prove that man is not worthy of the honor with which Allah has blessed him. Therefore if he follows any other way he cannot escape the snares of Satan. - [2] In this passage, arguments of Tauhid have been put forward in order to make man steadfast in his faith and refrain from shirk. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab It is Allah, your Creator, Who keeps the ships afloat and makes them move on the surface of the sea to be of service in effecting your objects which are sought after of His Bounty. Indeed, He has been always Rahimun (Merciful) to you. ### Bijan Moeinian Your Lord is the One Who is behind the forces that sail your ship through the sea so that you may pick up what He has gracefully provided for you. How merciful is He toward you. ### Al-Hilali & Khan Your Lord is He Who drives the ship for you through the sea, in order that you may seek of His Bounty. Truly He is Ever Most Merciful towards you. ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali Your Lord is He That maketh the Ship go smoothly for you through the sea, in order that ye may seek of his Bounty.
