Surah Al-Isra (The Night Journey) — سورة الإسراء - **Verse:** 102 / 111 · **Juz:** 15 · **Mushaf page:** 291 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-isra/verse-102 ## Arabic قَالَ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ مَٓا اَنْزَلَ هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ اِلَّا رَبُّ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضِ بَصَٓائِرَۚ وَاِنّ۪ي لَاَظُنُّكَ يَا فِرْعَوْنُ مَثْبُوراً ## Transcription Qala laqad AAalimta ma anzalahaola-i illa rabbu assamawatiwal-ardi basa-ira wa-innee laathunnukaya firAAawnu mathboora ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley He said, ‘You know that no one sent these down but the Lord of the heavens and earth to be clear proofs. Pharaoh, I think you are destroyed.’ ### Progressive Muslims He said: "You know that no one has sent these down except for the Lord of the heavens and the Earth as visible proofs. And I think that you Pharaoh are doomed!" ### Shabbir Ahmed Answered Moses, "You know well that no one but the Lord of the heavens and the earth has revealed these eye-opening Messages and, verily, O Pharaoh! I truly think, O Pharaoh, your days are done." ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) [Moses] said, "You have already known that none has sent down these [signs] except the Lord of the heavens and the earth as evidence, and indeed I think, O Pharaoh, that you are destroyed. " ### Muhammad Asad Answered [Moses]: "Thou knowest well that none but the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth has bestowed these [miraculous signs] from on high, as a means of insight [for thee]; and, verily, O Pharaoh, [since thou hast chosen to reject them;] I think that thou art utterly lost!" ### Marmaduke Pickthall He said: In truth thou knowest that none sent down these (portents) save the Lord of the heavens and the earth as proofs, and lo! (for my part) I deem thee lost, O Pharaoh. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Moses replied: "You know well that no one but the Lord of the heavens and the earth has sent these as eye-opening proofs.[1] I truly think, O Pharaoh, that you are indeed doomed."[2] _Footnotes_ - [1] That is, I am not a bewitched man but you are indeed a doomed person. As you have been persistent in your disbelief even after seeing such obvious divine signs, you are surety doomed to destruction. - [2] This part of the story of Pharaoh has been related here because it applied exactly to the mushriks of Makkah who were doing their best to uproot the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the believers from the land of Arabia. This story, so to say, tells them: Pharaoh resolved to uproot Moses (peace be upon him) and the Israelites but was himself completely annihilated along with his followers. But Moses (peace be upon him) and his followers settled down in the land. Likewise, if you persist on the same way, you will surely meet with the same end. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab "But you know", said Mussa, "That no one could have sent down these divine and evident signs but the Omnipotent Who is the Creator of the heavens and the earth; He made them clear to the understanding and judgement" "In effect I think that you Pharaoh are obstinate and unyielding to the truth and with unerring doom you shall see what is to come". ### Bijan Moeinian Moses replied: "You know very well that none but the Lord of the heavens and the earth is capable of presenting such miracles. I am afraid that you, Pharaoh, are doomed [in account of your denial.]" ### Al-Hilali & Khan [Mûsâ (Moses)] said: "Verily, you know that these signs have been sent down by none but the Lord of the heavens and the earth (as clear evidence i.e. proofs of Allâh’s Oneness and His Omnipotence.). And I think you are, indeed, O Fir‘aun (Pharaoh) doomed to destruction (away from all good)!" ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali Moses said, "Thou knowest well that these things have been sent down by none but the Lord of the heavens and the earth as eye-opening evidence: and I consider thee indeed, O Pharaoh, to be one doomed to destruction!" ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran Moses replied, "You know well that none has sent these ˹signs˺ down except the Lord of the heavens and the earth as insights. And I really think that you, O  Pharaoh, are doomed." ### Taqi Usmani He (Mūsā) said, "You know well that these (signs) are sent down by none but by the Lord of the heavens and the earth as eye-openers. And, I am afraid O Pharaoh, you are going to be destroyed." ### Abdul Haleem He said, ‘You know very well that only the Lord of the heavens and earth could have sent these signs as clear proof. I think that you, Pharaoh, are doomed.’ ### Arthur John Arberry He said, 'Indeed thou knowest that none sent these down, except the Lord of the heavens and earth, as clear proofs; and, Pharaoh, I think thou art accursed. " ### Mahmoud Ghali He said, "Indeed you already know (that) in no way did anyone send these down except Allah) The Lord of the heavens and the earth, as supreme demonstrations.
