Surah Al-Isra (The Night Journey) — سورة الإسراء - **Verse:** 101 / 111 · **Juz:** 15 · **Mushaf page:** 291 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-isra/verse-101 ## Arabic وَلَقَدْ اٰتَيْنَا مُوسٰى تِسْعَ اٰيَاتٍ بَيِّنَاتٍ فَسْـَٔلْ بَن۪ٓي اِسْرَٓائ۪لَ اِذْ جَٓاءَهُمْ فَقَالَ لَهُ فِرْعَوْنُ اِنّ۪ي لَاَظُنُّكَ يَا مُوسٰى مَسْحُوراً ## Transcription Walaqad atayna moosatisAAa ayatin bayyinatin fas-albanee isra-eela ith jaahum faqalalahu firAAawnu innee laathunnuka ya moosamashoora ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley We gave Musa nine Clear Signs. Ask the tribe of Israel about when he came to them and Pharaoh said to him, ‘Musa, I think you are bewitched.’ ### Progressive Muslims And We had given Moses nine clear signs. So ask the Children of Israel, when he came to them, then Pharaoh said: "I think that you Moses are bewitched!" ### Shabbir Ahmed (We have been sending Prophets for the reformation of this mentality. ) Indeed We gave unto Moses nine clear Messages. Ask then, the Children of Israel what happened when he came unto them and Pharaoh said to him, "Verily, O Moses! I think you are bewitched." When (Moses) came to them the Pharaoh said: "I think, O Moses, you have been deluded." ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) And We had certainly given Moses nine evident signs, so ask the Children of Israel [about] when he came to them and Pharaoh said to him, "Indeed I think, O Moses, that you are affected by magic. " ### Muhammad Asad AND, INDEED, We gave unto Moses nine clear messages. Ask, then, the children of Israel [to tell thee what happened] when he came unto them, [and appealed to Pharaoh,] and Pharaoh said unto him, "Verily, O Moses, I think that thou art full of sorcery!" ### Marmaduke Pickthall And verily We gave unto Moses nine tokens, clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty). Do but ask the Children of Israel how he came unto them, then Pharaoh said unto him: Lo! I deem thee one bewitched, O Moses. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary We granted Moses nine clear signs.[1] Ask the Children of Israel about that: when these signs came forth, Pharaoh said to him: "Moses, I think that you are bewitched."[2] _Footnotes_ - [1] It should be noted that this is the third answer to the demand of the disbelievers of Makkah for signs. They said: We will not believe in you until you do this and do that before our eyes. In answer to this demand, they are being warned: Nine clear signs, like the ones you are demanding, were shown one after the other to Pharaoh before you and you also know well what he said, simply because he did not want to believe in Moses (peace be upon him); you also know that when he rejected the Prophet, even after seeing the signs, We drowned him. - [2] The nine signs mentioned here have also been mentioned in(Surah Al-Aaraf, Ayat 133). These were: (1) The staff which turned into a monster snake. (2) Moses’ bright hand which shone like the sun. (3) The public defeat of the sorcery of the magicians. (4) Universal famine. (5) Storm. (6) Locusts. (7) Lice. (8) Frogs. (9) Rain of blood. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab We went Mussa with nine divine signs. You Muhammad just ask Bani Israel about the course of events relative to Mussa as he presented himself to Pharaoh and his people. Pharaoh said to him: "I do think that you Mussa are indeed bewitched". ### Bijan Moeinian I supported Moses with nine undeniable miracles; you may inquire the Jews about it. Pharaoh’s only response was: "I am afraid that you are a magician!" ### Al-Hilali & Khan And indeed We gave Mûsâ (Moses) nine clear signs. Ask then the Children of Israel, when he came to them, then Fir‘aun (Pharaoh) said to him: "O Mûsâ (Moses)! I think you are indeed bewitched." ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali To Moses We did give Nine Clear Signs: As the Children of Israel: when he came to them, Pharaoh said to him: "O Moses! As he came to them, (then) Firaawn (Pharaoh) said to him, "Surely I indeed surmise, O Mûsa, that you are bewitched." ### George Sale We heretofore gave unto Moses the power of working nine evident signs. Nitekim, sor İsrailoğulları'na, (Musa) onlara geldiğinde (ve Firavun'a başvurduğunda neler olduğunu sana anlatsınlar).
