# 82. Surah Al-Infitar

_In the name of God, the Almighty, the Merciful._

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ

## Verse 1

اِذَا السَّمَٓاءُ انْفَطَرَتْۙ

Itha assamao infatarat

When the sky splits open,

## Verse 2

وَاِذَا الْـكَوَاكِبُ انْتَثَرَتْۙ

Wa-itha alkawakibu intatharat

And when the stars are scattered,

## Verse 3

وَاِذَا الْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْۙ

Wa-itha albiharu fujjirat

And when the seas are made to gush forth,

## Verse 4

وَاِذَا الْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْۙ

Wa-itha alqubooru buAAthirat

And when the graves are overturned,

## Verse 5

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَا قَدَّمَتْ وَاَخَّرَتْۜ

AAalimat nafsun ma qaddamatwaakhkharat

A soul will know what it has sent ahead and held back.

## Verse 6

يَٓا اَيُّهَا الْاِنْسَانُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ الْـكَر۪يمِۙ

Ya ayyuha al-insanu magharraka birabbika alkareem

O man: what deluded thee concerning thy Lord, the Noble,

## Verse 7

اَلَّذ۪ي خَلَقَكَ فَسَوّٰيكَ فَعَدَلَكَۙ

Allathee khalaqaka fasawwakafaAAadalak

Who created thee and fashioned thee and proportioned thee in balance,

## Verse 8

ف۪ٓي اَيِّ صُورَةٍ مَا شَٓاءَ رَكَّبَكَۜ

Fee ayyi sooratin ma shaarakkabak

In what form He willed assembling thee?

## Verse 9

كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِالدّ۪ينِۙ

Kalla bal tukaththiboona biddeen

No, indeed! The truth is, you deny the Judgment.

## Verse 10

وَاِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَافِظ۪ينَۙ

Wa-inna AAalaykum lahafitheen

And there are over you custodians,

## Verse 11

كِرَاماً كَاتِب۪ينَۙ

Kiraman katibeen

Noble and writing.

## Verse 12

يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ

YaAAlamoona ma tafAAaloon

They know what you do.

## Verse 13

اِنَّ الْاَبْرَارَ لَف۪ي نَع۪يمٍۚ

Inna al-abrara lafee naAAeem

The virtuous will be in bliss,

## Verse 14

وَاِنَّ الْفُجَّارَ لَف۪ي جَح۪يمٍۚ

Wa-inna alfujjara lafee jaheem

And the licentious will be in Hell.

## Verse 15

يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ الدّ۪ينِ

Yaslawnaha yawma addeen

They will burn therein on the Day of Judgment,

## Verse 16

وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَٓائِب۪ينَۜ

Wama hum AAanha bigha-ibeen

And they will not therefrom be absent.

## Verse 17

وَمَٓا اَدْرٰيكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدّ۪ينِۙ

Wama adraka ma yawmu addeeni

And what will convey to thee what the Day of Judgment is?

## Verse 18

ثُمَّ مَٓا اَدْرٰيكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدّ۪ينِۜ

Thumma ma adraka mayawmu addeen

Then what will convey to thee what the Day of Judgment is! —

## Verse 19

يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِنَفْسٍ شَيْـٔاًۜ وَالْاَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلّٰهِ

Yawma la tamliku nafsun linafsinshay-an wal-amru yawma-ithin lillah

The day no soul will possess power for another soul in anything, and the command, that day, belongs to God.
