_In the name of God, the Almighty, the Merciful._

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ

## Verse 1

الٓـرٰ۠ تِلْكَ اٰيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ وَقُرْاٰنٍ مُب۪ينٍ

Alif-lam-ra tilka ayatualkitabi waqur-anin mubeen

alif lām rā Those are the proofs of the Writ and of a clear recitation.

## Verse 2

رُبَمَا يَوَدُّ الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا لَوْ كَانُوا مُسْلِم۪ينَ

Rubama yawaddu allatheenakafaroo law kanoo muslimeen

Perchance those who ignore warning will wish they were submitting;

## Verse 3

ذَرْهُمْ يَأْكُلُوا وَيَتَمَتَّعُوا وَيُلْهِهِمُ الْاَمَلُ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ

Tharhum ya/kuloo wayatamattaAAoowayulhihimu al-amalu fasawfa yaAAlamoon

Leave thou them to eat and enjoy themselves while hope diverts them; and they will come to know.

## Verse 4

وَمَٓا اَهْلَكْنَا مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ اِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابٌ مَعْلُومٌ

Wama ahlakna min qaryatin illawalaha kitabun maAAloom

And We destroyed no city save it had a known writ;

## Verse 5

مَا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ اُمَّةٍ اَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَأْخِرُونَ

Ma tasbiqu min ommatin ajalahawama yasta/khiroon

No community outstrips its term, nor will they defer.

## Verse 6

وَقَالُوا يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ي نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ الذِّكْرُ اِنَّكَ لَمَجْنُونٌۜ

Waqaloo ya ayyuha allatheenuzzila AAalayhi aththikru innaka lamajnoon

And they say: “O thou upon whom the remembrance has been sent down: thou art possessed.

## Verse 7

لَوْ مَا تَأْت۪ينَا بِالْمَلٰٓئِكَةِ اِنْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الصَّادِق۪ينَ

Law ma ta/teena bilmala-ikatiin kunta mina assadiqeen

“Why bringest thou not the angels to us, if thou be of the truthful?”

## Verse 8

مَا نُنَزِّلُ الْمَلٰٓئِكَةَ اِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُٓوا اِذاً مُنْظَر۪ينَ

Ma nunazzilu almala-ikata illabilhaqqi wama kanoo ithan munthareen

We send down the angels only with justice, and then are they not granted respite.

## Verse 9

اِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَاِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ

Inna nahnu nazzalna aththikrawa-inna lahu lahafithoon

We sent down the remembrance, and We are its custodian.

## Verse 10

وَلَقَدْ اَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ ف۪ي شِيَعِ الْاَوَّل۪ينَ

Walaqad arsalna min qablika feeshiyaAAi al-awwaleen

And We sent before thee, among the sects of the former peoples,

## Verse 11

وَمَا يَأْت۪يهِمْ مِنْ رَسُولٍ اِلَّا كَانُوا بِه۪ يَسْتَهْزِؤُ۫نَ

Wama ya/teehim min rasoolin illakanoo bihi yastahzi-oon

And there came not to them any messenger but they mocked him;

## Verse 12

كَذٰلِكَ نَسْلُكُهُ ف۪ي قُلُوبِ الْمُجْرِم۪ينَۙ

Kathalika naslukuhu fee quloobialmujrimeen

Thus do We insert it in the hearts of the lawbreakers:

## Verse 13

لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِه۪ وَقَدْ خَلَتْ سُنَّةُ الْاَوَّل۪ينَ

La yu/minoona bihi waqad khalatsunnatu al-awwaleen

They believe not in it; and the practice of the former peoples has passed away.

## Verse 14

وَلَوْ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ بَاباً مِنَ السَّمَٓاءِ فَظَلُّوا ف۪يهِ يَعْرُجُونَۙ

Walaw fatahna AAalayhim babanmina assama-i fathalloo feehiyaAArujoon

And had We opened above them a gate of the sky and they continued ascending therein

## Verse 15

لَقَالُٓوا اِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتْ اَبْصَارُنَا بَلْ نَحْنُ قَوْمٌ مَسْحُورُونَ۟

Laqaloo innama sukkirat absarunabal nahnu qawmun mashooroon

They would say: “Our sight is but intoxicated; nay, we are a people taken by sorcery.”

## Verse 16

وَلَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا فِي السَّمَٓاءِ بُرُوجاً وَزَيَّنَّاهَا لِلنَّاظِر۪ينَۙ

Walaqad jaAAalna fee assama-iburoojan wazayyannaha linnathireen

And We have set in the sky constellations, and made them fair for the beholders,

## Verse 17

وَحَفِظْنَاهَا مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ رَج۪يمٍۙ

Wahafithnahamin kulli shaytanin rajeem

And guarded them from every accursed satan

## Verse 18

اِلَّا مَنِ اسْتَرَقَ السَّمْعَ فَاَتْبَعَهُ شِهَابٌ مُب۪ينٌ

Illa mani istaraqa assamAAafaatbaAAahu shihabun mubeen

Save such as steals a hearing; and a clear flame follows him.

## Verse 19

وَالْاَرْضَ مَدَدْنَاهَا وَاَلْقَيْنَا ف۪يهَا رَوَاسِيَ وَاَنْبَتْنَا ف۪يهَا مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مَوْزُونٍ

Wal-arda madadnahawaalqayna feeha rawasiya waanbatnafeeha min kulli shay-in mawzoon

And the earth, We spread it out and cast therein firm mountains, and caused to grow therein every balanced thing,

## Verse 20

وَجَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ ف۪يهَا مَعَايِشَ وَمَنْ لَسْتُمْ لَهُ بِرَازِق۪ينَ

WajaAAalna lakum feeha maAAayishawaman lastum lahu biraziqeen

And We made therein livelihoods, for you and those for whom you are not providers.

## Verse 21

وَاِنْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ اِلَّا عِنْدَنَا خَزَٓائِنُهُۘ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُـهُٓ اِلَّا بِقَدَرٍ مَعْلُومٍ

Wa-in min shay-in illa AAindanakhaza-inuhu wama nunazziluhu illa biqadarinmaAAloom

And of any thing, with Us only are the treasuries thereof; and We send it down only in known measure.

## Verse 22

وَاَرْسَلْنَا الرِّيَاحَ لَوَاقِـحَ فَاَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَٓاءِ مَٓاءً فَاَسْقَيْنَاكُمُوهُۚ وَمَٓا اَنْتُمْ لَهُ بِخَازِن۪ينَ

Waarsalna arriyaha lawaqihafaanzalna mina assama-i maanfaasqaynakumoohu wama antum lahu bikhazineen

And We sent the fecundating winds, and sent down water from the sky, and gave it to you to drink; and it is not you who are its treasurers.

## Verse 23

وَاِنَّا لَنَحْنُ نُحْـي۪ وَنُم۪يتُ وَنَحْنُ الْوَارِثُونَ

Wa-inna lanahnu nuhyeewanumeetu wanahnu alwarithoon

And We give life, and We give death; and We are the inheritor.

## Verse 24

وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا الْمُسْتَقْدِم۪ينَ مِنْكُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا الْمُسْتَأْخِر۪ينَ

Walaqad AAalimna almustaqdimeenaminkum walaqad AAalimna almusta/khireen

And We know those who press forward among you; and We know those who lag behind.

## Verse 25

وَاِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَحْشُرُهُمْۜ اِنَّهُ حَك۪يمٌ عَل۪يمٌ۟

Wa-inna rabbaka huwa yahshuruhuminnahu hakeemun AAaleem

And thy Lord, He will gather them; He is wise and knowing.

## Verse 26

وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْاِنْسَانَ مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ مِنْ حَمَأٍ مَسْنُونٍۚ

Walaqad khalaqna al-insana minsalsalin min hama-in masnoon

And We created man from sounding clay, from dark slime transmuted.

## Verse 27

وَالْجَٓانَّ خَلَقْنَاهُ مِنْ قَبْلُ مِنْ نَارِ السَّمُومِ

Waljanna khalaqnahumin qablu min nari assamoom

And the demon dominus created We before of the fire of scorching wind.

## Verse 28

وَاِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلٰٓئِكَةِ اِنّ۪ي خَالِقٌ بَشَراً مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ مِنْ حَمَأٍ مَسْنُونٍ

Wa-ith qala rabbuka lilmala-ikatiinnee khaliqun basharan min salsalin min hama-inmasnoon

And when thy Lord said to the angels: “I am creating a mortal from sounding clay, from dark slime transmuted,

## Verse 29

فَاِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ وَنَفَخْتُ ف۪يهِ مِنْ رُوح۪ي فَقَعُوا لَهُ سَاجِد۪ينَ

Fa-itha sawwaytuhu wanafakhtu feehimin roohee faqaAAoo lahu sajideen

“And when I have formed him and breathed into him of My Spirit, then fall down, to him in submission,”

## Verse 30

فَسَجَدَ الْمَلٰٓئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ اَجْمَعُونَۙ

Fasajada almala-ikatu kulluhumajmaAAoon

Then the angels submitted, all of them together.

## Verse 31

اِلَّٓا اِبْل۪يسَۜ اَبٰٓى اَنْ يَكُونَ مَعَ السَّاجِد۪ينَ

Illa ibleesa aba an yakoonamaAAa assajideen

Not so Iblīs; he refused to be with those who submit.

## Verse 32

قَالَ يَٓا اِبْل۪يسُ مَا لَكَ اَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ السَّاجِد۪ينَ

Qala ya ibleesu ma lakaalla takoona maAAa assajideen

He said: “O Iblīs: what ails thee that thou art not with those who submit?”

## Verse 33

قَالَ لَمْ اَكُنْ لِاَسْجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقْتَهُ مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ مِنْ حَمَأٍ مَسْنُونٍ

Qala lam akun li-asjuda libasharinkhalaqtahu min salsalin min hama-in masnoon

Said he: “I am not one to submit to a mortal whom Thou hast created from sounding clay, from dark slime transmuted.”

## Verse 34

قَالَ فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَاِنَّكَ رَج۪يمٌ

Qala fakhruj minhafa-innaka rajeem

He said: “Then go thou forth from it, for thou art accursed.

## Verse 35

وَاِنَّ عَلَيْكَ اللَّعْنَةَ اِلٰى يَوْمِ الدّ۪ينِ

Wa-inna AAalayka allaAAnata ila yawmiaddeen

“And the curse is upon thee until the Day of Judgment.”

## Verse 36

قَالَ رَبِّ فَاَنْظِرْن۪ٓي اِلٰى يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ

Qala rabbi faanthirneeila yawmi yubAAathoon

Said he: “My Lord: grant Thou me respite until the day they are raised.”

## Verse 37

قَالَ فَاِنَّكَ مِنَ الْمُنْظَر۪ينَۙ

Qala fa-innaka mina almunthareen

He said: “Thou art of those granted respite

## Verse 38

اِلٰى يَوْمِ الْوَقْتِ الْمَعْلُومِ

Ila yawmi alwaqti almaAAloom

“Until the day of the known time.”

## Verse 39

قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَٓا اَغْوَيْتَن۪ي لَاُزَيِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ فِي الْاَرْضِ وَلَاُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ اَجْمَع۪ينَۙ

Qala rabbi bima aghwaytaneelaozayyinanna lahum fee al-ardi walaoghwiyannahumajmaAAeen

Said he: “My Lord: because Thou hast caused me to err, I will make it fair to them in the earth; and I will cause them to err all together,

## Verse 40

اِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ الْمُخْلَص۪ينَ

Illa AAibadaka minhumualmukhlaseen

“Save Thy sincere servants among them.”

## Verse 41

قَالَ هٰذَا صِرَاطٌ عَلَيَّ مُسْتَق۪يمٌ

Qala hatha siratunAAalayya mustaqeem

He said: “This is a straight path to Me:

## Verse 42

اِنَّ عِبَاد۪ي لَيْسَ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَانٌ اِلَّا مَنِ اتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ الْغَاو۪ينَ

Inna AAibadee laysa laka AAalayhimsultanun illa mani ittabaAAaka mina alghaween

“My servants — thou hast no authority over them save those who follow thee among those who err,

## Verse 43

وَاِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوْعِدُهُمْ اَجْمَع۪ينَۙ

Wa-inna jahannama lamawAAiduhum ajmaAAeen

“And Gehenna is their promised place all together.

## Verse 44

لَهَا سَبْعَةُ اَبْوَابٍۜ لِكُلِّ بَابٍ مِنْهُمْ جُزْءٌ مَقْسُومٌ۟

Laha sabAAatu abwabin likullibabin minhum juz-on maqsoom

“It has seven gates; and for each gate is a portion assigned.”

## Verse 45

اِنَّ الْمُتَّق۪ينَ ف۪ي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍۜ

Inna almuttaqeena fee jannatinwaAAuyoon

Those who are in prudent fear will be among gardens and springs:

## Verse 46

اُدْخُلُوهَا بِسَلَامٍ اٰمِن۪ينَ

Odkhulooha bisalamin amineen

“Enter therein in peace, secure!”

## Verse 47

وَنَزَعْنَا مَا ف۪ي صُدُورِهِمْ مِنْ غِلٍّ اِخْوَاناً عَلٰى سُرُرٍ مُتَقَابِل۪ينَ

WanazaAAna ma fee sudoorihimmin ghillin ikhwanan AAala sururin mutaqabileen

And We will remove what is in their hearts of rancour — as brethren, upon couches facing one another;

## Verse 48

لَا يَمَسُّهُمْ ف۪يهَا نَصَبٌ وَمَا هُمْ مِنْهَا بِمُخْرَج۪ينَ

La yamassuhum feeha nasabunwama hum minha bimukhrajeen

Weariness will not touch them therein, nor will they be removed therefrom.

## Verse 49

نَبِّئْ عِبَاد۪ٓي اَنّ۪ٓي اَنَا الْغَفُورُ الرَّح۪يمُۙ

Nabbi/ AAibadee annee anaalghafooru arraheem

Inform thou My servants that I am the Forgiving, the Merciful,

## Verse 50

وَاَنَّ عَذَاب۪ي هُوَ الْعَذَابُ الْاَل۪يمُ

Waanna AAathabee huwa alAAathabual-aleem

And that My punishment is the painful punishment.

## Verse 51

وَنَبِّئْهُمْ عَنْ ضَيْفِ اِبْرٰه۪يمَۢ

Wanabbi/hum AAan dayfi ibraheem

And inform thou them of the guests of Abraham,

## Verse 52

اِذْ دَخَلُوا عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا سَلَاماًۜ قَالَ اِنَّا مِنْكُمْ وَجِلُونَ

Ith dakhaloo AAalayhi faqaloosalaman qala inna minkum wajiloon

When they entered upon him, and said: “Peace!” He said: “We are afraid of you.”

## Verse 53

قَالُوا لَا تَوْجَلْ اِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَامٍ عَل۪يمٍ

Qaloo la tawjal innanubashshiruka bighulamin AAaleem

They said: “Fear thou not, we bring thee glad tidings of a learned lad.”

## Verse 54

قَالَ اَبَشَّرْتُمُون۪ي عَلٰٓى اَنْ مَسَّنِيَ الْكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونَ

Qala abashshartumoonee AAalaan massaniya alkibaru fabima tubashshiroon

He said: “Bring you glad tidings to me, though old age has come upon me? Of what then bring you glad tidings?”

## Verse 55

قَالُوا بَشَّرْنَاكَ بِالْحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُنْ مِنَ الْقَانِط۪ينَ

Qaloo bashsharnaka bilhaqqifala takun mina alqaniteen

They said: “We have brought thee glad tidings in truth; so be thou not of those who despair.”

## Verse 56

قَالَ وَمَنْ يَقْنَطُ مِنْ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّه۪ٓ اِلَّا الضَّٓالُّونَ

Qala waman yaqnatu min rahmatirabbihi illa addalloon

He said: “And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord save those who are astray?”

## Verse 57

قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ اَيُّهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ

Qala fama khatbukumayyuha almursaloon

He said: “Then what is your business, O emissaries?”

## Verse 58

قَالُٓوا اِنَّٓا اُرْسِلْـنَٓا اِلٰى قَوْمٍ مُجْرِم۪ينَۙ

Qaloo inna orsilna ilaqawmin mujrimeen

They said: “We have been sent to a lawbreaking people,

## Verse 59

اِلَّٓا اٰلَ لُوطٍۜ اِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمْ اَجْمَع۪ينَۙ

Illa ala lootin innalamunajjoohum ajmaAAeen

“Save the house of Lot — them will we deliver all together,

## Verse 60

اِلَّا امْرَاَتَهُ قَدَّرْنَٓاۙ اِنَّهَا لَمِنَ الْغَابِر۪ينَ۟

Illa imraatahu qaddarna innahalamina alghabireen

“Save his wife”; We decreed that she be of those who stay behind.

## Verse 61

فَلَمَّا جَٓاءَ اٰلَ لُوطٍۨ الْمُرْسَلُونَۙ

Falamma jaa ala lootinalmursaloon

And when the emissaries came to the house of Lot,

## Verse 62

قَالَ اِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ مُنْكَرُونَ

Qala innakum qawmun munkaroon

He said: “You are people unknown.”

## Verse 63

قَالُوا بَلْ جِئْنَاكَ بِمَا كَانُوا ف۪يهِ يَمْتَرُونَ

Qaloo bal ji/naka bimakanoo feehi yamtaroon

They said: “The truth is, we bring thee that concerning which they doubted.

## Verse 64

وَاَتَيْنَاكَ بِالْحَقِّ وَاِنَّا لَصَادِقُونَ

Waataynaka bilhaqqiwa-inna lasadiqoon

“And we come to thee with the truth; and we are the truthful.

## Verse 65

فَاَسْرِ بِاَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِنَ الَّيْلِ وَاتَّبِـعْ اَدْبَارَهُمْ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنْكُمْ اَحَدٌ وَامْضُوا حَيْثُ تُؤْمَرُونَ

Faasri bi-ahlika biqitAAin minaallayli wattabiAA adbarahum wala yaltafitminkum ahadun wamdoo haythutu/maroon

“So travel thou with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs; and let not any one of you turn round, but go on to where you are commanded.”

## Verse 66

وَقَضَيْنَٓا اِلَيْهِ ذٰلِكَ الْاَمْرَ اَنَّ دَابِرَ هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ مَقْطُوعٌ مُصْبِح۪ينَ

Waqadayna ilayhi thalikaal-amra anna dabira haola-i maqtooAAunmusbiheen

And We decreed for him that command: “The root of those will be cut off in the morning.”

## Verse 67

وَجَٓاءَ اَهْلُ الْمَد۪ينَةِ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ

Wajaa ahlu almadeenati yastabshiroon

And the people of the city came rejoicing.

## Verse 68

قَالَ اِنَّ هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ ضَيْف۪ي فَلَا تَفْضَحُونِۙ

Qala inna haola-i dayfeefala tafdahoon

He said: “They are my guests, so put me not to shame;

## Verse 69

وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَلَا تُخْزُونِ

Wattaqoo Allaha walatukhzoon

“And be in prudent fear of God, and disgrace me not.”

قَالُٓوا اَوَلَمْ نَنْهَكَ عَنِ الْعَالَم۪ينَ

Qaloo awa lam nanhaka AAani alAAalameen

They said: “Did we not forbid thee all mankind?”

## Verse 71

قَالَ هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ بَنَات۪ٓي اِنْ كُنْتُمْ فَاعِل۪ينَۜ

Qala haola-i banateein kuntum faAAileen

He said: “These are my daughters, if you must act.”

لَعَمْرُكَ اِنَّهُمْ لَف۪ي سَكْرَتِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ

LaAAamruka innahum lafee sakratihimyaAAmahoona

By thy life, they were in their intoxication wandering blindly!

## Verse 73

فَاَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ مُشْرِق۪ينَۙ

Faakhathat-humu assayhatumushriqeen

And the Blast seized them at sunrise.

فَجَعَلْنَا عَالِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَاَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِنْ سِجّ۪يلٍۜ

FajaAAalna AAaliyaha safilahawaamtarna AAalayhim hijaratan minsijjeel

And We utterly overthrew it and rained upon it stones of baked clay.

## Verse 75

اِنَّ ف۪ي ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيَاتٍ لِلْمُتَوَسِّم۪ينَ

Inna fee thalika laayatinlilmutawassimeen

In that are proofs for those who can discern.

## Verse 76

وَاِنَّهَا لَبِسَب۪يلٍ مُق۪يمٍ

Wa-innaha labisabeelin muqeem

And it is upon an enduring road;

اِنَّ ف۪ي ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيَةً لِلْمُؤْمِن۪ينَۜ

Inna fee thalika laayatanlilmu/mineen

In that is a proof for the believers.

وَاِنْ كَانَ اَصْحَابُ الْاَيْكَةِ لَظَالِم۪ينَۙ

Wa-in kana as-habual-aykati lathalimeen

And the companions of the woods were wrongdoers,

## Verse 79

فَانْتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْۢ وَاِنَّهُمَا لَبِاِمَامٍ مُب۪ينٍۜ۟

Fantaqamna minhum wa-innahumalabi-imamin mubeen

And We took vengeance on them — and both are on a clear highway.

## Verse 80

وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ اَصْحَابُ الْحِجْرِ الْمُرْسَل۪ينَۙ

Walaqad kaththaba as-habualhijri almursaleen

And the companions of the rocky tract denied the emissaries.

وَاٰتَيْنَاهُمْ اٰيَاتِنَا فَكَانُوا عَنْهَا مُعْرِض۪ينَۙ

Waataynahum ayatinafakanoo AAanha muAArideen

And We brought them Our proofs, but they turned away from them.

وَكَانُوا يَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُيُوتاً اٰمِن۪ينَ

Wakanoo yanhitoona mina aljibalibuyootan amineen

And they hewed houses from the mountains, feeling secure.

فَاَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ مُصْبِح۪ينَۙ

Faakhathat-humu assayhatumusbiheen

But the Blast seized them in the morning,

فَمَٓا اَغْنٰى عَنْهُمْ مَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَۜ

Fama aghna AAanhum ma kanooyaksiboon

And there availed them not what they had earned.

## Verse 85

وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَٓا اِلَّا بِالْحَقِّۜ وَاِنَّ السَّاعَةَ لَاٰتِيَةٌ فَاصْفَحِ الصَّفْحَ الْجَم۪يلَ

Wama khalaqna assamawatiwal-arda wama baynahuma illabilhaqqi wa-inna assaAAata laatiyatunfasfahi assafhaaljameel

And We created not the heavens and the earth and what is between them but in truth. And the Hour is coming; so forbear thou with comely forbearance.

## Verse 86

اِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ الْخَلَّاقُ الْعَل۪يمُ

Inna rabbaka huwa alkhallaqualAAaleem

Thy Lord, He is the Knowing Creator.

## Verse 87

وَلَقَدْ اٰتَيْنَاكَ سَبْعاً مِنَ الْمَثَان۪ي وَالْقُرْاٰنَ الْعَظ۪يمَ

Walaqad ataynaka sabAAan minaalmathanee walqur-ana alAAatheem

And We have given thee seven of the oft-paired, and the tremendous Qur’an.

## Verse 88

لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ اِلٰى مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِه۪ٓ اَزْوَاجاً مِنْهُمْ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَاخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِلْمُؤْمِن۪ينَ

La tamuddanna AAaynayka ila mamattaAAna bihi azwajan minhum wala tahzanAAalayhim wakhfid janahaka lilmu/mineen

Extend thou not thine eyes towards what enjoyment We have granted categories of them, and grieve thou not over them (but lower thou thy wing to the believers,

## Verse 89

وَقُلْ اِنّ۪ٓي اَنَا النَّذ۪يرُ الْمُب۪ينُۚ

Waqul innee ana annatheerualmubeen

And say thou: “I am the clear warner:

كَمَٓا اَنْزَلْنَا عَلَى الْمُقْتَسِم۪ينَۙ

Kama anzalna AAalaalmuqtasimeen

“‘Like as We sent down upon those who distributed among themselves[...].’”)

## Verse 91

اَلَّذ۪ينَ جَعَلُوا الْقُرْاٰنَ عِض۪ينَ

Allatheena jaAAaloo alqur-anaAAideen

Who have made the Qur’an into parts.

## Verse 92

فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسْـَٔلَنَّهُمْ اَجْمَع۪ينَۙ

Fawarabbika lanas-alannahum ajmaAAeen

So by thy Lord, We will question them all together

## Verse 93

عَمَّا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ

AAamma kanoo yaAAmaloon

About what they did!

## Verse 94

فَاصْدَعْ بِمَا تُؤْمَرُ وَاَعْرِضْ عَنِ الْمُشْرِك۪ينَ

FasdaAA bima tu/maruwaaAArid AAani almushrikeen

So declare thou what thou art commanded; and turn thou away from the idolaters.

## Verse 95

اِنَّا كَفَيْنَاكَ الْمُسْتَهْزِء۪ينَۙ

Inna kafaynaka almustahzi-een

We suffice thee against the mockers,

اَلَّذ۪ينَ يَجْعَلُونَ مَعَ اللّٰهِ اِلٰهاً اٰخَرَۚ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ

Allatheena yajAAaloona maAAa Allahiilahan akhara fasawfa yaAAlamoon

Those who make with God another god; they will come to know.

وَلَقَدْ نَعْلَمُ اَنَّكَ يَض۪يقُ صَدْرُكَ بِمَا يَقُولُونَۙ

Walaqad naAAlamu annaka yadeequ sadrukabima yaqooloon

And We know that thy breast is straitened by what they say.

فَسَبِّـحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُنْ مِنَ السَّاجِد۪ينَۙ

Fasabbih bihamdi rabbika wakunmina assajideen

But give thou glory with the praise of thy Lord, and be thou among those who submit,

وَاعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتّٰى يَأْتِيَكَ الْيَق۪ينُ

WaAAbud rabbaka hattaya/tiyaka alyaqeen
