Surah Al-Hajj (The Pilgrimage) — سورة الحج - **Verse:** 32 / 78 · **Juz:** 17 · **Mushaf page:** 335 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-hajj/verse-32 ## Arabic ذٰلِكَۗ وَمَنْ يُعَظِّمْ شَعَٓائِرَ اللّٰهِ فَاِنَّهَا مِنْ تَقْوَى الْقُلُوبِ ## Transcription Thalika waman yuAAaththimshaAAa-ira Allahi fa-innaha min taqwaalquloob ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley That is it. As for those who honour Allah’s sacred rites, that comes from the taqwa in their hearts. ### Progressive Muslims Thus, and whoever honours the decrees of God, then it is from the piety of the hearts. ### Shabbir Ahmed Such is his state. And anyone who honors the symbols set up by Allah must know that mere honoring these symbols is of no value without righteousness of the heart. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation That[...]. And whoever honors the symbols of Allah - indeed, it is from the piety of hearts. ### Muhammad Asad This is [to be borne in mind]. And anyone who honours the symbols set up by God [shall know that] verily, these [symbols derive their value] from the God-consciousness in the [believers’] hearts. ### Marmaduke Pickthall That (is the command). And whoso magnifieth the offerings consecrated to Allah, it surely is from devotion of the hearts, ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Such is the fact. And whoso venerates the sanctity of all that have been ordained as symbols[1] of Allah surely does so because it is part of the true piety of the hearts.[2] _Footnotes_ - [1] "Symbols of Allah": the performance of Salat, Hajj, Fasting, etc., or things like a Mosque or sacrificial offerings, etc. See (Surah Al-Maidah, Ayat 2 and E.Ns 5-7) thereof). - [2] That is, the observance of the sanctity of the symbols by a man is a proof that there is piety in his heart. On the other hand, the man who violates their sanctity proves himself to be void of piety and fear of God. It shows that he either does not believe at all in Allah or adopts a rebellious attitude against Him. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab So be it, and he who honours Allah's sacred acts and rites and turns his thoughts upon the duties owed to Him will have won Allah's affection; for honouring Allah's rites is an endearment of the hearts reflective of piety. ### Bijan Moeinian These are the mankind’s obligation to the Lord. Those who establish the Lord’s rituals, in fact demonstrate the piety of their heart. ### Al-Hilali & Khan Thus it is [what has been mentioned in the above said Verses (27, 28, 29, 30, 31) is an obligation that mankind owes to Allâh] and whosoever honours the Symbols of Allâh, then it is truly from the piety of the hearts. ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali Such (is his state): and whoever holds in honour the symbols of Allah, (in the sacrifice of animals), such (honour) should come truly from piety of heart. ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran That is so.
