He has knowledge of all things. ### Progressive Muslims He is the First and the Last, the Evident and the Innermost. And He is fully aware of all things. ### Shabbir Ahmed He has no beginning and He has no ending. He is the Evident in His Attributes and the Hidden in His Person. And He is the Knower of all things. (Time and Space are His creation the totality of which is beyond the grasp of human intellect). ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation He is the First and the Last, and the Outer and the Inner; and He knows all things. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation He is the First and the Last, the Evident and the Innermost. And He is fully aware of all things. ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament He is the Alpha and the Omega. He is the Outermost and the Innermost. He is fully aware of all things. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira He is the first and He the last, the transcendent and the immanent; and He has knowledge of everything. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) He is the First and the Last, the Ascendant and the Intimate, and He is, of all things, Knowing. ### Muhammad Asad He is the First and the Last, and the Outward as well as the Inward: and He has full knowledge of everything. ### Marmaduke Pickthall He is the First and the Last, and the Outward and the Inward; and He is Knower of all things. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary He is the First and the Last, and the Manifest and the Hidden,[1] and He has knowledge of everything. _Footnotes_ - [1] That is, when there was nothing, He was, and when there will be nothing, He will be. He is the most Manifest of all the manifests, for whatever manifests itself in the world, does so only by His attributes and His works and His light. And He is the Most Hidden of all the hidden, for not only do the senses fail to perceive Him but the intellect and thought and imagination also cannot attain to His essence and reality. The best commentary in this regard is a supplication of the Prophet (peace be upon him) which Imam Ahmad, Muslim, Tirmidhi, and Baihaqi have related on the authority of Abu Hurairah, and Hafiz Abu Yala Mosuli in his Musnad on the authority of Aishah: ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab He is the First and the Foremost, He is the Last and the Utmost, He is infinite, He is beyond and above all, yet exposed to the mental view and accessible to appeals, and He is beyond and below all to give support to all in all; His marvels are inherent in the whole and He is the Omnipresent Who holds prescience of all events, He is the ultimate goal and He is AL-Alim (the Omniscient) who knows all. ### Bijan Moeinian He is the First in the existence and He will be the Last Who will exist. He is the Outermost and He is the Innermost, He has the full knowledge of everything. ### Al-Hilali & Khan He is the First (nothing is before Him) and the Last (nothing is after Him), the Most High (nothing is above Him) and the Most Near (nothing is nearer than Him).
