Surah Al-Hadid (The Iron) — سورة الحديد - **Verse:** 26 / 29 · **Juz:** 27 · **Mushaf page:** 540 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-hadid/verse-26 ## Arabic وَلَقَدْ اَرْسَلْنَا نُوحاً وَاِبْرٰه۪يمَ وَجَعَلْنَا ف۪ي ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا النُّبُوَّةَ وَالْكِتَابَ فَمِنْهُمْ مُهْتَدٍۚ وَكَث۪يرٌ مِنْهُمْ فَاسِقُونَ ## Transcription Walaqad arsalna noohan wa-ibraheemawajaAAalna fee thurriyyatihima annubuwwatawalkitaba faminhum muhtadin wakatheerun minhum fasiqoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley We sent Nuh and Ibrahim and placed Prophethood and the Book among their descendants. Some of them are guided but many of them are deviators. ### Progressive Muslims And We had sent Noah and Abraham, and We placed in their progeny the prophethood and the Scripture. Some of them were guided, while many were wicked. ### Shabbir Ahmed And indeed, We sent Noah and Abraham and granted their descendants Prophethood and the Scripture. And among them there is he who goes aright, but a great many of them have drifted away. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation And We sent Noah, and Abraham, and placed among their progeny prophethood and the Writ. And among them is he who is guided; but many of them are perfidious. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation And We had sent Noah and Abraham, and We placed in their progeny the prophethood and the Book. Some of them were guided, while many were wicked. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira We sent Noah and Abraham, and gave prophethood to their progeny and the Book, and some of them are well-directed, but many of them are disobedient. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) And We have already sent Noah and Abraham and placed in their descendants prophethood and scripture; and among them is he who is guided, but many of them are defiantly disobedient. ### Muhammad Asad And, indeed, [to the same end] We sent forth Noah and Abraham [as Our message-bearers], and established prophethood and revelation among their descendants; and some of them were on the right way, but many were iniquitous. ### Marmaduke Pickthall And We verily sent Noah and Abraham and placed the prophethood and the scripture among their seed, and among them there is he who goeth right, but many of them are evil-livers. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Indeed We[1] sent forth Noah and Abraham and established in their line Prophecy and the Book.[2] Then some of them embraced the guidance and many of them are wicked.[3] _Footnotes_ - [1] Now it is being told what corruptions appeared among those who believed in the Prophets who came to the world before the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) with the signs and the Book and the criterion. - [2] That is, whichever Messenger came with Allah’s Book, was from the progeny of the Prophet Noah (peace be upon him) and, after him, from the progeny of the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him). - [3] Became transgressors and disobedient. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab We did send Nuh and Ibrahim and We kept the Divine prerogative of prophethood and the Book in their line, Among their descendants were those who opened their hearts' ears and their minds' eyes, but also those who counselled deaf and were disposed to wickedness, and they were many. ### Bijan Moeinian I (God) appointed Noah as a Prophet and Abraham (after him). I chose the Prophets after them from the descendants of Abraham and gave them the Scriptures. Some of their followers were righteous but most of them chose wickedness. ### Al-Hilali & Khan And indeed, We sent Nûh (Noah) and Ibrâhîm (Abraham), and placed in their offspring Prophethood and Scripture. And among them there are some who are guided; but many of them are Fâsiqûn (rebellious, disobedient to Allâh). ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali And We sent Noah and Abraham, and established in their line Prophethood and Revelation: and some of them were on right guidance. But many of them became rebellious transgressors. ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran And indeed, We sent Noah and Abraham and reserved prophethood and revelation for their descendants. Some of them are ˹rightly˺ guided, while most are rebellious. ### Taqi Usmani Indeed We sent NūH and Ibrāhīm, and kept the Book and prophet-hood (continuing) in their progeny. So, some of those (to whom they were sent) were on the right path, and many of them were sinners. ### Abdul Haleem We sent Noah and Abraham, and gave prophethood and scripture to their offspring: among them there were some who were rightly guided, but many were lawbreakers. ### Arthur John Arberry And We sent Noah, and Abraham, and We appointed the Prophecy and the Book to be among their seed; and some of them are guided, and many of them are ungodly. ### E.
