Surah Al-Fath (The Victory) — سورة الفتح - **Verse:** 17 / 29 · **Juz:** 26 · **Mushaf page:** 512 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-fath/verse-17 ## Arabic لَيْسَ عَلَى الْاَعْمٰى حَرَجٌ وَلَا عَلَى الْاَعْرَجِ حَرَجٌ وَلَا عَلَى الْمَر۪يضِ حَرَجٌۜ وَمَنْ يُطِـعِ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُولَهُ يُدْخِلْهُ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْر۪ي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهَارُۚ وَمَنْ يَتَوَلَّ يُعَذِّبْهُ عَذَاباً اَل۪يماً۟ ## Transcription Laysa AAala al-aAAma harajunwala AAala al-aAAraji harajun walaAAala almareedi harajun waman yutiAAiAllaha warasoolahu yudkhilhu jannatin tajree min tahtihaal-anharu waman yatawalla yuAAaththibhu AAathabanaleema ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley There is no constraint on the blind, nor on the lame, nor on the sick. We will admit all who obey Allah and His Messenger into Gardens with rivers flowing under them. But We will punish with a painful punishment anyone who turns his back. ### Progressive Muslims There is no burden on the blind, nor is there any burden on the cripple, nor is there on the sick any burden. And whosoever obeys God and His messenger, He will admit them into paradises with rivers flowing beneath; and whosoever turns away, He will punish him with a painful retribution. ### Shabbir Ahmed There is no blame for the blind, nor is there blame for the disabled, nor is there blame for the sick. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, He will admit him in the Gardens underneath which rivers flow. And whoever turns away, him will He punish with an awful doom. And whoso obeyeth Allah and His messenger, He will make him enter Gardens underneath which rivers flow; and whoso turneth back, him will He punish with a painful doom. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary There is no blame on the blind, nor on the lame, nor on the sick (if they do not go forth to fight).[1] Allah will admit those who obey Allah and His Messenger to the Gardens beneath which rivers flow and will inflict a grievous chastisement on those who turn away. _Footnotes_ - [1] That is, the one who has a genuine excuse for not joining jihad is not accountable, but if the able-bodied, strong people make excuses for not joining it, they cannot be regarded as sincere with regard to Allah and His religion, and they cannot be given the opportunity to take advantage of the gains as members of the Muslim community, but when time comes for making sacrifices for Islam, they should lag behind and seek the safety of their lives and properties. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Absolved from guilt shall be the blind and the lame and he who is sick. He who obeys Allah and His Messenger, will Allah welcome into gardens of surpassing beauty beneath which rivers flow, and he who turns a deaf ear will Allah subject to a condign punishment. ### Bijan Moeinian The one who has a genuine excuse (being blind, lame or sick) for not joining the fight, is not accountable. Whoever obeys God and His Prophet, God will admit him into Gardens underneath which rivers flow. The One who turns away, on the contrary, will be severely punished by his Lord. ### Al-Hilali & Khan No blame or sin is there upon the blind, nor is there blame or sin upon the lame, nor is there blame or sin upon the sick (that they go not for fighting). Kim de sırt çevirirse, onu acı bir azab ile azablandırır. ### Hasan Basri Çantay — Kur'an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim A'maaya (muhaarebeden geri kalmak hususunda) vebal yok. Topala vebal yok. Hastaya vebal yok. Kim Allaha ve resulüne itaat ederse (Allah) onu altlarından ırmaklar akan cennetlere sokar.
