Surah Al-Baqarah (The Cow) — سورة البقرة - **Verse:** 86 / 286 · **Juz:** 1 · **Mushaf page:** 12 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-86 ## Arabic اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ الَّذ۪ينَ اشْتَرَوُا الْحَيٰوةَ الدُّنْيَا بِالْاٰخِرَةِۘ فَلَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُمُ الْعَذَابُ وَلَا هُمْ يُنْصَرُونَ۟ ## Transcription Ola-ika allatheena ishtarawooalhayata addunya bil-akhiratifala yukhaffafu AAanhumu alAAathabu wala humyunsaroon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Those are the people who trade the Next World for this world. The punishment will not be lightened for them. They will not be helped. ### Progressive Muslims These are the ones who have purchased this worldly life instead of the Hereafter. The retribution will not be reduced for them, nor will they be supported. ### Shabbir Ahmed Such are those who fall for instant gratification, buying the life of this world at the price of long-term gains and the Hereafter.
