Surah Al-Baqarah (The Cow) — سورة البقرة - **Verse:** 200 / 286 · **Juz:** 2 · **Mushaf page:** 30 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-200 ## Arabic فَاِذَا قَضَيْتُمْ مَنَاسِكَكُمْ فَاذْكُرُوا اللّٰهَ كَذِكْرِكُمْ اٰبَٓاءَكُمْ اَوْ اَشَدَّ ذِكْراًۜ فَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَقُولُ رَبَّنَٓا اٰتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا وَمَا لَهُ فِي الْاٰخِرَةِ مِنْ خَلَاقٍ ## Transcription Fa-itha qadaytum manasikakumfathkuroo Allaha kathikrikum abaakumaw ashadda thikran famina annasi manyaqoolu rabbana atina fee addunyawama lahu fee al-akhirati min khalaq ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley When you have completed your rites, remember Allah as you used to remember your forefathers – or even more. There are some people who say, ‘Our Lord, give us good in this world.’ They will have no share in the Next World. ### Progressive Muslims When you have completed your rites, then remember God as you remember your fathers or even greater. From among the people are those who Say: "Our Lord, give us from this world!", but in the Hereafter he has no part. ### Shabbir Ahmed When you have returned to your homes after completing the acts of devotion, the greatest change that should come in you is that you live your life according to the Commands of Allah rather than what you were doing before, i. e., following the ways of your forefathers. People, who look for short-term gains in blind following, forfeit the long term Eternal success. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation And when you have concluded your rites, remember God like your remembrance of your fathers, or with stronger remembrance. For there are people who [merely] pray, "O our Sustainer! But of mankind is he who saith: "Our Lord! Give unto us in the world," and he hath no portion in the Hereafter. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary And when you have performed your rites remember Allah as you remember your fathers; or remember Him even more.[1] There are some (among those that remember Allah) who say: "Our Lord, grant us what is good in this world;" such shall have no share in the Hereafter. _Footnotes_ - [1] After the Hajj the Arabs used to hold rallies at Mind. At these rallies people from different tribes proudly narrated the achievements of their forefathers and indulged in much extravagant self-praise. Here they are asked to renounce all such things and devote the time which they formerly spent on trivialities to remembering and celebrating God. Dhikr refers to the remembrance of God at Mina. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab And when you have concluded your religious devotions and rites of AL- hajj, then praise Allah and extol His glorious attributes as you customarily praised your forefathers in pagan times, but Allah’s praises and glorious attributes should be extolled from one’s heart and innermost being. Nonetheless, among people are those whose thoughts are set upon the mundane of this world; they invoke Allah to bestow upon them life’s comforts to satisfy their enjoyment and content, and consequently never shall such persons have a share in the Hereafter. ### Bijan Moeinian When you complete the rituals, praise your Lord; the same way that you were praising your fathers and even with more devotion. Some people will pray their Lord to give them the best in this world; they will have no share in Hereafter. ### Al-Hilali & Khan So when you have accomplished your Manâsik[1], remember Allâh as you remember your forefathers or with a far more remembrance. But of mankind there are some who say: "Our Lord! Give us (Your Bounties) in this world!" and for such there will be no portion in the Hereafter. ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali So when ye have accomplished your holy rites, celebrate the praises of Allah, as ye used to celebrate the praises of your fathers,- yea, with far more Heart and soul. There are men who say: "Our Lord! There are some who say, "Our Lord! Some men who say: "Our Lord! Give us (Your bounties) in this world!" But they will have no portion in the Hereafter. ### Amatul Rahman Omar When you have completed the rites of devotion of the Hajj prescribed for you, remember Allâh with praises as your lauding of your parents or yet more earnest devout lauding. Ona ahirette bir kısmet yoktur. ### Gültekin Onan (Hacc) ibadetlerinizi bitirdiğinizde, artık (cahiliye döneminde) atalarınızı andığınız gibi, hatta ondan da güçlü bir anma ile Tanrı'yı anın. İnsanlardan öylesi vardır ki: "Rabbimiz, bize bu dünyada ver" der. Onların ahirette nasibi yoktur. ### Hasan Basri Çantay — Kur'an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim Menasikinizi (hacca ait ibadetlerinizi) bitirince (cahiliyyetde) atalarınızı (böbürlenerek) andığınız gibi, hatta daha kuvvetli bir anışla Allahı anın. Artık o insanlardan kimi "Ey Rabbimiz, bize (nasibimizi) dünyada ver" der ki onun ahiretden nasibi yokdur. ### İbni Kesir Hacc ibadetinizi bitirince; atalarınızı andığınız gibi, hatta daha kuvvetli bir anışla Allah'ı zikredin. İnsanlardan öylesi vardı ki; Ey Rabbımız, bize dünyada ver, der. Onun ahirette nasibi yoktur. ### Muhammed Esed — Kur'an Mesajı İbadetinizi bitirdiğinizde, atalarınızı hatırladığınız gibi, hatta daha güçlü bir haykırışla Allah'ı hatırla(maya devam ed)in! Çünkü öyle insanlar var ki, (sadece), "Ey Rabbimiz! Bize bu dünyada ver." diye dua ederler. Böyleleri, ahiretin nimetlerinden nasip alamayacaklardır. ### Şaban Piriş — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Anlamı Hac ibadetinizi bitirince atalarınızı andığınız gibi, hatta daha da kuvvetli bir anışla Allah'ı zikredin. İnsanlardan: -Rabbimiz, bize bu dünyada ver, diyenler vardır. Onların ahirette hiç bir nasibi yoktur. ### Süleyman Ateş — Kur'an-ı Kerim ve Yüce Meali Hac ibadetlerinizi bitirince atalarınızı andığınız gibi hatta, daha kuvvetli bir anışla Allah'ı anın. İnsanlardan kimi "Rabbimiz bize dünyada ver!" der; onun ahirette bir payı yoktur. ### Yaşar Nuri Öztürk — Kur'an-ı Kerim Meali Gerekli ibadetlerinizi bitirdiğinizde yine Allah'ı anın.
