Surah Al-Baqarah (The Cow) — سورة البقرة - **Verse:** 176 / 286 · **Juz:** 2 · **Mushaf page:** 25 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-176 ## Arabic ذٰلِكَ بِاَنَّ اللّٰهَ نَزَّلَ الْكِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّۜ وَاِنَّ الَّذ۪ينَ اخْتَلَفُوا فِي الْكِتَابِ لَف۪ي شِقَاقٍ بَع۪يدٍ۟ ## Transcription Thalika bi-anna Allahanazzala alkitaba bilhaqqi wa-inna allatheenaikhtalafoo fee alkitabi lafee shiqaqin baAAeed ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley That is because Allah has sent down the Book with truth and those who differ from the Book are entrenched in hostility. ### Progressive Muslims This is because God has sent down the Scripture with truth; and those who have disputed in the Scripture are in far opposition. ### Shabbir Ahmed This is so, because (they 'disable' the Qur'an although) Allah has revealed the Book in Absolute Truth. Behold, those who find excuses for disagreement in the Book, do so for their sectarian affiliations and thus create discord. ((4:82), (25:30)). ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation For it is that God sent down the Writ with the truth, and those who differ concerning the Writ are in extreme schism! ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation This is because God has sent down the Book with the truth; and those who have disputed about the Book are in far opposition. ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament This is because GOD has revealed this scripture, bearing the truth, and those who dispute the scripture are the most ardent opponents. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira That is because God has revealed the Book containing the truth; but those who are at variance about it have gone astray in their contrariness. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) That is [deserved by them] because Allah has sent down the Book in truth. And indeed, those who differ over the Book are in extreme dissension. ### Muhammad Asad Thus it is: since it is God who bestows the divine writ from on high, setting forth the truth, all those who set their own views against the divine writ are, verily, most deeply in the wrong. ### Marmaduke Pickthall That is because Allah hath revealed the Scripture with the truth. Lo! those who find (a cause of) disagreement in the Scripture are in open schism. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary This is so because Allah revealed the Book with the Truth, but those who disagreed concerning the Book veered far away from the Truth. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Such a destiny they incurred is simply the consequence of their negative response to the Book of virtues Allah revealed in truth and sincerity, and those who disputed its precepts have set themselves at variance, unable to mend this discord. ### Bijan Moeinian Their behavior is due to the fact that they have lost the message of God in account of dispute over what God had clearly explained to them. How argumentative these stubborn people are. ### Al-Hilali & Khan That is because Allâh has sent down the Book (the Qur’ân) in truth. And verily, those who disputed as regards the Book are far away in opposition. ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali (Their doom is) because Allah sent down the Book in truth but those who seek causes of dispute in the Book are in a schism Far (from the purpose). ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran That is because Allah has revealed the Book in truth. And surely those who differ regarding it are totally engrossed in opposition. ### Taqi Usmani All that is because Allah revealed the Book with the truth. Yet, those who have opted for dissension about the Book are in extreme division (among themselves) ### Abdul Haleem This is because God has sent the Scripture with the Truth; those who pursue differences in the Scripture are deeply entrenched in opposition. ### Arthur John Arberry That, because God has sent down the Book with the truth; and those that are at variance regarding the Book are in wide schism. ### E. Henry Palmer That (is), because God has revealed the Book with truth, and verily those who disagree about the Book are in a wide schism. ### Hamid S. Aziz That (is), because Allah has revealed the Book with truth, but verily those who seek causes of dispute in the Book are in a schism far (from the goal). ### Mahmoud Ghali That (is) because Allah has been sending down the Book with the Truth, and surely the ones who have differed about the Book are indeed in far- (reaching) opposition. ### George Sale This they shall endure, because God sent down the book of the Koran with truth, and they who disagree concerning that book, are certainly in a wide mistake. ### Syed Vickar Ahamed (Their doom is) because Allah sent down the Book in truth but those who search the reasons of disputes in the Book are in a section far (from the purpose of truth). ### Amatul Rahman Omar That (punishment) is because, whereas Allâh caused the perfect Book to be revealed to suit all the requirements of truth and wisdom (they have rejected it outright).
