Surah Al-A'raf (The Heights) — سورة الأعراف - **Verse:** 8 / 206 · **Juz:** 8 · **Mushaf page:** 150 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-araf/verse-8 ## Arabic وَالْوَزْنُ يَوْمَئِذٍۨ الْحَقُّۚ فَمَنْ ثَقُلَتْ مَوَاز۪ينُهُ فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ ## Transcription Walwaznu yawma-ithini alhaqqufaman thaqulat mawazeenuhu faola-ika humu almuflihoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley The weighing that Day will be the truth. As for those whose scales are heavy, they are the successful. ### Progressive Muslims And the scales on that Day will be the truth. Whoever has heavy weights, then these are the successful ones. ### Shabbir Ahmed The scales on that Day will be truly equitable. Those whose constructive deeds are heavy, will prosper. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation And the weighing, that day, will be the truth; then whose balances are heavy: it is they who are the successful. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation And the balance on that Day will be the truth. So, those whose weights are heavy on the balance, those are the successful ones. ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament The scales will be set on that day, equitably. Those whose weights are heavy will be the winners. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira And the weighing will be just on that Day. Then those whose (deeds) are heavier in the balance will find fulfilment, ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) And the weighing [of deeds] that Day will be the truth. So those whose scales are heavy - it is they who will be the successful. ### Muhammad Asad And true will be the weighing on that Day; and those whose weight [of good deeds] is heavy in the balance -it is they, they who shall attain to a happy state; ### Marmaduke Pickthall The weighing on that day is the true (weighing). As for those whose scale is heavy, they are the successful. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary The weighing on that Day will be the true weighing:[1] those whose scales are heavy will prosper. _Footnotes_ - [1] This means that when the Balance is fixed on the Day of Judgement, 'truth' and weight will be identical. The more truth one has to one's credit, the more truth one has to one's credit, the more the weight in one's scale; and vice versa. One will be judged solely on the basis of this weight. In other words, no consideration other than truth will enter into the calculation. A life of falsehood, however long it lasted, and however full of worldly achievements, will carry no weight at all. Weighed in the Balance, the devotees of falsehood will discover that their life-long deeds do not even weigh so much as a birds feather. The same point has been expatiated upon in (al-Kahf 18:103-5) : 'Shall We tell you of those who are greatest losers in respect of their deeds? It is those whose efforts have been wasted in this life while they kept believing that they were acquiring good by their deeds. they are those who deny the Signs of their Lord and the fact of their having to meet Him (in the Hereafter). So their works are in vain and we shall attach no weight to them on the Day of Judgement.' ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab The balance of justice on this Momentous Day is truth personified. He, whose deeds of wisdom and piety surpass in weight, shall he and such persons rejoice beyond a common joy. ### Bijan Moeinian The scale will justly measure the deeds. The one whose good deeds weight heavily [and outweighs his wrongdoings] will succeed. ### Al-Hilali & Khan And the weighing on that day (Day of Resurrection) will be the true (weighing)[1]. So as for those whose scale (of good deeds) will be heavy, they will be the successful (by entering Paradise). ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali The balance that day will be true (to nicety): those whose scale (of good) will be heavy, will prosper: ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran The weighing on that Day will be just.
