And their cry when Our might came to them was only that they said: “We were wrongdoers!”
And their only utterance, when Our violent force came down upon them, was the cry: ‘Truly we have been wrongdoers!’
Then their only saying when Our punishment came to them was: "We were wicked!"
They had no plea when Our Requital came to them, but they said, "We were indeed unjust, and used to oppress the vulnerable. "
And their cry when Our might came to them was only that they said: “We were wrongdoers!”
Then their only saying when Our punishment came to them was: "We were wicked!"
Then their only saying when Our punishment came to them was: "We were wicked!"
Their utterance when our retribution came to them was: "Indeed, we have been transgressors."
And when Our punishment overtook them they had nothing to say except crying out: "We have indeed been sinners. "
And their declaration when Our punishment came to them was only that they said, "Indeed, we were wrongdoers!"
And when Our punishment came upon them, they had nothing to say for themselves, and could only cry, "Verily, we were wrongdoers!"
No plea had they, when Our terror came unto them, save that they said: Lo! We were wrong-doers.
And when Our scourge fell upon them their only cry was: 'We are indeed transgressors.'*
When our anger was displayed in action, nothing did they say with pining regrets and vain repentance but: "we were wrongful of actions".
The punishment came so fast upon them that they had only time to say: "How unjust we were. "
No cry did they utter when Our Torment came upon them but this: "Verily, we were Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers)".
When (thus) Our punishment took them, no cry did they utter but this: "Indeed we did wrong."
Their only cry—when overwhelmed by Our torment—was, "We have indeed been wrongdoers."
So, when Our punishment came upon them, they could say nothing but cry, "We were wrongdoers indeed."
their only cry when Our punishment came to them was, ‘How wrong we were!’
and they but cried, when Our might came upon there, 'We were evildoers. ';
was only to say, 'Verily, we were unjust!'
7:5. And their cry, when Our wrath came upon them, was only to say, "Verily, we were unjust (wrongdoers)!"
So, in no way did they have a plea as Our violence came to them, except that they said, "Surely we were unjust. "
And their supplication, when our punishment came upon them, was no other than that they said, verily we have been unjust.
When Our punishment got them, they did not say anything except this: Truly, we did wrong!
So that their cry meant nothing when Our punishment came upon them except that they (apologisingly) said, `Truly we were wrong-doing people. '
Then their cry, when Our punishment overtook them, was only that they said, ‘We have indeed been wrongdoers!’
