Surah Al-A'raf (The Heights) — سورة الأعراف - **Verse:** 34 / 206 · **Juz:** 8 · **Mushaf page:** 153 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-araf/verse-34 ## Arabic وَلِكُلِّ اُمَّةٍ اَجَلٌۚ فَاِذَا جَٓاءَ اَجَلُهُمْ لَا يَسْتَأْخِرُونَ سَاعَةً وَلَا يَسْتَقْدِمُونَ ## Transcription Walikulli ommatin ajalun fa-itha jaaajaluhum la yasta/khiroona saAAatan walayastaqdimoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Children of Adam! if Messengers come to you from among yourselves, recounting My Signs to you, those who have taqwa and put things right, will feel no fear and will know no sorrow. ### Progressive Muslims And for every nation will be an allotted time; when their time is reached, they will not delay by one hour nor advance. ### Shabbir Ahmed All nations and communities determine the terms of their Rise and Fall in accordance with these Divine Laws. What the statement really means is that God has laid down a minimum proportion between the good and evil deeds of a nation. As long as that nation is able to maintain that minimum proportion, its existence is tolerated in order that it might be able to show its performance. Once a nation crosses that minimum limit, it is denied any further respite. Bunlardan birincisi kişinin vücudunun dayanma süresidir (ecel-i tabii). Doktorlar hastalarına buna göre ömür biçebilirler. İkincisi ise ecel-i müsemma yani Allah tarafından belirlenmiş yaşama süresidir. Bunu ondan başkası bilemez. Bu süre, kişinin vücut sağlığına bakmaz, çok sağlıklı birisi dahi ecel-i müsemması geldiği için ölebilir ([Mü'min 40/67](https://quran.so/40/67)). İnsanın ömrü ecel-i müsemmasını geçemez ama bunun altına inebilir ([Ra'd 13/38](https://quran.so/13/38)-[39](https://quran.so/13/39),[Fatır 35/11](https://quran.so/35/11)). Bu, kişinin kendini Allah yolunda feda etmesi, bir başkası tarafından öldürülmesi veya yaptığı yanlışlarla kendi ömrünü kısaltmasıyla gerçekleşir. Ecelin kısalmasıyla yeni ecel Allah katında yazılır ve kişi buna göre ölür ([Al-i İmran 3/145](https://quran.so/3/145)).Yanlış yapan kişi yanlışlarından dönerse ömrünün tekrar uzamasını sağlayabilir. Örneğin, tabii eceli 90 sene olan birinin ecel-i müsemması 80 sene ise, bu kişi en fazla 80 yaşına kadar yaşayabilir. Aynı kişi sağlığını bozarsa, Allah da onun ömrünü kısaltır. Eğer bu kişi sağlığına dikkat eder, tedavi görürse zamanla hastalıklardan arınacağı için ömrü ecel-i müsemmasına kadar uzayabilir ama ecel-i müsemmasını geçemez.Toplumların ve devletlerin de eceli vardır ([Araf 7/34,](https://quran.so/7/34) [Yunus 10/49](https://quran.so/10/49)). Bu ecel de kısalabilir. Kur'an'da bunun örneği Yunus'un (a.s.) kavmidir. Allah, herhangi bir konudaki cezalandırmayı bu sürenin dolmasına kadar ertelediğini bildirir ([Ankebut 29/53,](https://quran.so/29/53)[Nahl 16/61)](https://quran.so/16/61). Yunus (a.s.), tövbe ederek /dönüş yaparak kendisini düzeltmesiyle hem kendinin hem de kavminin kısalmış olan ecelini geri uzatabilmiş ([Enbiya 21/87](https://quran.so/21/87)-[88](https://quran.so/21/88)), böylece cezadan kurtulmuştur.
